Hi Everyone,

I'm a new member here at diettalk. I have been on a plateau for quite a while and it seems to be breaking by me gaining weight. Let me start off by saying I've been on weight watchers since Sept 2001. Originally I lost 20 pounds but slowly the weight has been creaping on. I don't quite understand considering I'm still on the diet and I just joined a gym. I'm very frustrated and was wondering if I could get any feedback. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and either do an arobics class or cardio. I think my only down fall with this diet is I give myself one day a week where I don't have to count my points (I don't follow my diet). I need Help!:c(

Thanks

Just curious if you are going by the scale or by measurements? Don't forget that a pound of muscle is a lot smaller than a pound of fat, so although you may be gaining weight, it may very well be lean muscle. I say try measuring and see how that goes. If you are still shrinking, there is no need to worry what the scale says- you may be heavier than what you had originally planned, but be much leaner and totally buff in the long run. If it was me, I wouldn't care if I was 150 lbs as long as it was all muscle and I LOOKED awesome!

HTH!

..I would also look at that "one day"--hopefully you aren't totally overdoing it...another thing, is, you may want to up the cardio a bit, or add weights, the standard rule is, 3 days ex to maintain weight, 5 days/wk to lose...

good luck

To lose one pound of fat it takes either burning off or eating 3500 calories less in a weeks period. In other words hard work to lose it and yet easily gained. I suggest maybe just having a special treat that day instead of not counting the whole day. Jessica may have a point in that you don't want to counteract your week's efforts in one day.

Good Luck, Stay Motivated and you'll do it!
