Ok, after reading the Thread that Nascobar started, I have much motovation. I am 16, and a Sophmore in Highschool. I hate school so much, not because of the people, but because of all the crap in school, the people in the school, is really the only reason I enjoy going to classes, but that is besides the subject. I really want to lose about 50 pounds, I am 260, and I hate it. I never thought Water was such a big influence on losing weight. I am going to start drinking alot more water. I stopped drinking Pop (Soda) over 9 months ago because I used to drink about 3-6 cans a day, :-\. But as long as I stopped now, it's all good. I have not smoked a cigarette in 6 weeks now, I figured the short breath, and chest pains wouldn't help much. I have smoked for a while now, but I have also stopped that now, I don't know how long I will be aboe to quit for, but this is the longest I ahve gone in as long as I can remember. All I have to do now, is accually lose weight. No one ever makes remarks to me about my weight, people are just used to me being the way I am, but I just wont to lose it for myself now. Not to prove anything to anyone else, just for myself. I really wanna do this, and if you have any information for me, please post here, and I will be very thankful for it. I will post results every now and then so you can see what is going on with me, so I am just going to drink ALOT of water, and be working out. Please check back to see how I am doing, thanks everyone!!!! Check back soon.

Yeah, now that i quit smoking, I get really mad really easy. But that is wearing down now, it is just withdrawl. Chewing about 2-3 packs of that Dentine Ice gum per day! Any strong gum and stuff like that helped alot. She will calm down after awhile.

Lol, my screen name is just something I thought up. My signature is not anything to think about, just a thought. No, if you are under the age of 18, you cannot buy smokes, but there are certain places where I can buy them, they ain't supposed to sell themn, but they let me buy them, or I just have some friends buy them, and I pay them back. I really wanna lose about 50 LBS, how long do you think this can take????

Hi Grave,
It's great that you have joined Diettalk. I've been a member since the end of February. There are a lot of great people here who know what you are going through and will help you each step of the way! Congratulations on kicking your cigarette habit! Was it peer pressure that started you on the road to smoking?
Also, drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water does help in your weight loss efforts but you need to add fruits, vegetables, whole grains(no white bread or pasta) and limit drastically your sweet intake. Another key is portion control. You need to remember Grave that you didn't gain the 50 pounds overnight so you must be patient in losing the 50 pounds. It's a journey, not a race! It takes hard work but fad diets(i.e. Slimfast, Atkins, etc) are not the road to take. Sensible eating is the key and increasing your exercise. What kind of workouts do you plan on doing? Aerobics(treadmill, elliptical trainer, bike etc) are the key to fat burning. Eventually add some weight training to tone your muscles.
Good luck in your weight loss adventure!
Toni
