Today on the treadmill, I was trying out a theory. If you're starting toward the back of the treadmill, it's easy to fall off, get "behind" when you speed up the belt. On the other hand, if you start from up front, in control of your speed and pace, it's easier to stay on top of a pace increase. Similarly, with your attitude--if you start out "on top of things"you're less likely to fall behind. That "power position" attitude has alot to do with how you are, physically. Slump, walk slow, "sleepwalk" through your day...How dynamic is that? Hold your back straight. Tuck in your belly.Smile and make eye contact with people. Stride like you mean it, use the power in your legs. Feel the difference?--It's a really good illustration of teh mind/body connection, where the body affects the mind.
On the treadmill today, 2.5 miles into it, getting tired, I kept repeating "power position" in my brain. Altered my posture. And danged if it didn't work like a charm!!
