Is anyone else doing this diet? I kind of have my own diet (even though it's through a small medical clinic). I eat about 1200 calories a day, but I don't count them up. I measure how much protein I eat (7 ouces), and I have a list of foods I may eat and a list of forbidden foods. I eat all the 'good' veggies that I want. I eat two fruits a day. I eat a small amount of bread or crackers every day. I have 3 protein supplements a day...it all totals about 1200 calories. There aren't any dairy products or heavy carbos like rice or potatoes or pasta. I suppose I could eat them if I wanted, but the amount allowed is so small, it would just frustrate me if I did. I'm pretty good with this diet most of the time. I try to keep drinking water. The foods that I eat are healthy, but I'm not losing quickly. How would you describe this diet? I think it's kind of a combination of low fat, low carb and low calories! Wow! I guess I just want to hear from people who have done this...and hear if it really does work? I hope so, but don't anybody who'se done it. Thanks, Cat

I'm a little concerned about how low the cals are....I'd have a hard time sticking with it, myself, and I think my body would rebel and gain when I got off it...

protein I eat (7 ouces), I eat all the 'good' veggies that I want. I eat two fruits a day. I eat a small amount of bread

i eat about 7 ounces of lean protein a day in the form of meat or poultry etc..and all the veggies i want and the two fruits usually and two pieces of bread at lunch...(whole wheat) ...but you lost me with the protein suppliments..and no carbs or dairy..i eat cereal for breakfast and i try to have at least 3 servings of non fat dairy every day...just curious, why dont you eat dairy? i also eat potatoes or rice etc..i eat about 1600 cals a day usually..i try to eat well balanced..

almost any program will work..im trying not to be on a "diet" ..i am trying to change how i eat forever..i think that is an important question to ask yourself when chosing a program..can you stay on it forever? because if the answer is no, prob the weight will come back with some of its friends ....

Jessica, I'm worried about the same thing...I hope that I don't gain once off it. I know it's not a complete lifestyle change. I feel like what I'm doing is just temporary and will eventually have to change for me to stick wit it.

Sooz...your diet sounds similar. I think that if I stopped the bar and drink supplements, I could add some rice or potatoes. When I feel psychologically stronger to do that...that will be my goal:o I don't think I could lose right now on more than 1200 calories.
I had a friend that joined this clinic with me, but quit as she hated it and now she's finally losing weight doing her own thing.
Next time I'm at the clinic I'll ask why there's no dairy. I think it has to do with lowering the carbs, but...don't really know...there's very little, (like 1 ounce of low fat cheese). I take vitamin , calcium, etc. supplements to make up whatever is missing in this diet . Also, they monitor my blood.

Thanks so much for giving me your input...good to hear%%-

I really think you can lose on more than 1200 cals a day, as well as eating what you like!!--I'm proof positive!! But it does take more time, and probably more exercise than strictly "really lowering cals..." but my main goal is not to see this fat (and all its friends!!) back on my frame!! At the same time, I do thinlk it's possible to lose weight and keep it off with "severe" approaches, I just think that'd be the really hard part ( Bell stated a statistic og 95% of dieters regain their weight--yikes!!)

at any rate--this is a great site, it's a great place to find support for all diet approaches (you may want to check out the "calorie counters" forum, as well as as starting a thread in miscellaneous approaches...)

Good luck to you!!
