My name is Cynthia Bane, and I’m a faculty member in the department of psychology at Denison University in Granville, OH. I’m conducting a study to examine how message boards like this one might help people reach their behavior change goals.

I’m conducting a survey of people who contribute to and/or read weight management message boards. The survey consists of questions that will help me to describe the final sample of respondents I get (e.g., age, race, gender), questions about perceptions of health and fitness, questions about perceptions of others’ health and fitness, and questions about perceived support for weight loss attempts. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.

This survey has been approved by the human subjects committee at Denison University. Participation is completely anonymous and responses are completely confidential.
