It's very strange. Two weeks ago, I went to the tatoo parlor and got my tongue pierced.

Since then, I haven't been eating nearly as much...only when I have too(3 normal meals). I don't even snack around anymore. I haven't had any sweets or soda pop since. I wonder if it's because I constantly have something in my mouth now?

It's so strange to me, because I'm always snacking...but now it's like if I go eat something I have to take 10 ten minutes to go clean my tongue and rinse my mouth out really good.

I'm so happy, I hope I keep dropping weight. I think it's the best thing I could have done for myself.

Well glad it seems to working for you, but even for the sake of reaching my high school weight [as in what I weighed 20 years ago], there no way I'm putting a hole in my tongue ... but if it make you happy:)

Well, whatever works for you, but personally I think toungue piercing, on top of the health dangerous, is absolutely ridiculous and I wouldn't go around recommending it to people - especially younger people, if I were you. If you like it, fine, but don't push others into it...

i wish you luck with the tongue piercing thing cause i work in a doctor's office and about a week and a half ago a 15 yr. old came in with an infection in his tongue from a piercing that was just beyond disgusting looking---was put on 2 antibiotics and dr. said he was lucky it did not get to his bloodstream.

bloodlust02,

Partying on with the tongue ring.

If your eating is a product of an oral fixation then the tongue ring will help.

I am glad you are following the directions and keeping it clean so you will not be a vicitim of the many side affects.

geez.... bloodlust wasn't telling people to go and get one for the sake of weight loss bloodlust was discribing something (sorry don't know your gender) he/she found unusual... i think it is rather rude of you to jump on her/him like that....
for the record i don't have any piercings other than my ears.. so i am not advocating piercings either

Hi Bloodlust,

I think it is interesting that you have lost weight since your piercing. Two things come to mind....1) It satisfies the oral sensation and 2) You think twice before you eat because you know the effort it takes to clean your tongue afterwards. I thought of a 3rd one-everyone I know that has their tongue pierced plays with it all of the time-I wonder how many calories are burned playing with it!LOL!

Seriously, chewing gum helps me not to eat as much.

Makes sense we were always told to go brush our teeth if we felt we wanted a snack, by the time you were done with the mouthwash many times you didnt want to snack, i am sure it is the same with the piercing. with all my allergies i wouldnt want any nose, tongue or belly button(never had a flat tummy for that anyway) plus i am 53! came from another generation, just cant comprehend all these piercings! LOL wouldnt be too thrilled if any of my grown kids had them either, my daughter did have a tummy piercing, but had to let it close up due to infection. if my adult children wanted them they would get it, dont get me wrong, doesnt mean i would like it though LOL

my daughter got hers done too - but did not lose weight - maybe yours is placed in the "right" spot like for anchupuncture ( cant spell lol sorry )

My daughter has 2 eyebows piercing, 1 tongue, 1 in her chin, and 1 in her nose, as well as a couple tatoos.
and just for the record - I myself do not like them, and was concerned about infections due to them but would never call her absolutely ridiculous as one person in this thread said!

She is a wonderful person, a super Mom and a great daughter - she does not do drugs, she has a job, and holds her own weight ( no pune intended ) with this world and I think she is super!

Her looks do not make her absolutely ridiculous !
