View Full Version : So you "only" lost one pound, huh?
I can't for the life of me remember where I found this; I stole it off someone's website a long time ago. It's called "Only One Pound."
******************************
Hello, do you know me? If you don't you should. I'm a pound of fat, and I'm the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet. Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm Only One Pound, just a pound. Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds or fifteen pounds, but never only one, so I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself ever so slyly so that you never seem to notice it, that is until I've grown to ten, twenty or even more pounds in weight. Yes, it's fun being Only One Pound of fat, left to do as I please. So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying "Oh, I only lost one pound." (as if that were such a terrible thing!) For you see, if you do this you'll encourage others to keep me around because they will think I'm not worth losing. And I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you. Happy Days!! After all, I'm Only One Pound of fat!!!
pouncermom 07-05-03, 11:25 PM 108 - love that story. I often hear people say they have lost only 1 pound this week. 1 POUND IS WONDERFUL!!! Think about it. If you lose "only" one pound each week, by the end of the year, you will have lost 52 pounds!!! Wonderful!!!
I'll take that 1 pound and show it where to go (LOL LOL LOL LOL)
:rose:
I have been raving lately about 1lb, how that 1lb could make all the difference. That 1lb could put you as obese or anorexic on some doctors chart, and by losing a 1lb a week/fortnight your losing and that is all that matters.

I'm new so this is a really late response, but I like this. I'm going to post anyhow. I know I think this way....but have come to realize that 1 pound is 3500 calories gone! Do you know how hard it is to lose 3500 calories? Without gaining it back? Amazing!
My old gym used to keep a pound of fat on the trainer's desk. A rubbery, lumpy, grossly yellow, plastic simulated mound of one pound of fat. It was gross. Losing that off your body is definitely a good thing.
KIANA021 08-05-03, 02:03 PM :c( Hello I am new also. Boy what I would'nt do to lose at least one pound because then I will have lost SOMETHING! have been dieting and workingout for two weeks and have not even lost ONE POUND! So I would definately be happy to lose at least ONE POUND!!!!!
BlueEyez 08-15-03, 09:15 AM Thank you 108, that is all I have been losing for the past 18 weeks, and I was.........well..........8-| rather discouraged too, but now that I read your post, I feel better! Thank YOU:D
Hi 108 its funny stummbling across this thread, because I two weeks ago I only lost one pound and was I ever discouraged. I kept saying I wanted to lose two but ONLY lost one. Reading this made to wake up to the fact that one pound evenually adds up. ONLY one pound over 52 weeks adds up to 52 pounds a year. Thats not bad. Looking at it that way, DAMN that be great with me.
Thanks:bow:
This is a great way to look at it.
Heck, even 1/3 pound a week (which NO ONE that I know would get excited over) consistently adds up to one pair of jeans smaller a year. I could live with that! That means that in five years I could be 31 years old and sitting comfortably in a size 14 or 16 jeans instead of my current 24-26! :D
shadowz 08-28-03, 10:49 AM Ohhh! That is such a great way of looking at it! Losing a pound a week makes you look ever so sweet! ;) Great thread! It makes me feel good... Makes me figure why I dont lose faster either :D I will make 1 pound(or more if my body decrees) a week my target :P. This time next year I will be in a nice size 8(or 6) ^_^ This little piece makes me feel great! :P
great post and so so true. yes just one lb at a time one day at a time. it's the only way to go.
see you lighter
penguin 02-16-04, 07:41 AM lol!:) One pound is such an achievement. You may not be able to see one pound gone on your body, but after a year 52 pounds would sure make a big difference! And it's the healthiest way to lose weight! The slower the better, the easier to keep off permanently.... hopefully.:)
The same is true of a pound gained... it sure likes company!
1dietgirl 02-18-04, 04:06 PM I totally agree Penguin. Those one pounders really do add up, and it seems they stay off longer than if you were losing massive amounts of weight at one time. :P
