Well, I've found myself on a new unknown level since hitting what I feel is a more normal weight/pant size. I know I'm still overweight but I don't FEEL as obese as I did...even 10 lbs heavier than now. I'm at a size 12/14 now and since that is just...kind of an average...it's just very helpful for my confidence/self esteem/self image, etc.
Before I found myself at such a low point I'm sure it was in the negatives if one were able to apply a numerical value... I still have an extremely low self esteem, but it's nowhere near what it was---although I still have my friends telling me how I need some confidence..
I just...I don't know how to put this to words...I hope it has come across somewhat...and not just gone over your heads..
Just wanted to know if anyone else found themselves with new found confidence. Everyone says confidence doesn't come from the way you look, but I really feel in my case that it does spur directly from how I see myself...physically not...mentally/emotionally/personality wise..or whatever...okay I hope I didn't confuse anyone...

Good for you, what terrific progress you have made!!! It's all a matter of attitude! I can't wait to fit into 12/14s again.

I found some new confidence myself after I lost weight, so I know what you are saying. For me it was a feeling of "I have accomplished something very important in my life!"

And, like you, I like those smaller sizes. Keep up the good work. :D

Well confindence at any level is great. Yet, you shouldn't put all your self-esteem in one attribute. Because less face it you can be in a car accident or have a baby in your tummy and the appearance will change. At that point you need to say, I still an great because I am nice, smart, good with kids, good with math, I can tie my own shoes, I can balance a coke can on my head, ect.

hee hee! It was easier to tie my shoes when my tummy was smaller! But this too shall pass!

good point lisad00. I'll figure it out sometime along the way, I'm sure...just a matter of having that awakening, I guess! :)

Aslen,

Your great success show your desire, determination, dedication, and discipline. The weight loss journey is one that requires time and perseverance. As time goes on and you are seeing that you have been able to meet your weight loss goals. I think it does boost your confidence. The numbers prove that you have the ability to accomplish a goal that is very difficult.

Let's face it, there's nothing better than to try on clothes and realize you need a smaller size! It is a thrill that words cannot describe. When you fit into that size that you haven't worn in a long time, it just feels so good.

Clothes shopping becomes fun instead of intimidating and painful. It is a tangible result that you can see, touch and feel. It causes you to step back and say to yourself, "It is really happening! I am really doing it!"

I think gaining confidence in other areas of your life is a gradual process. As you come to accept yourself more and more, you will find you have more and more confidence.
