It is that time of year again..........you know winter Well it is fast approaching and I really would love to get some advice from anyone who cares to help on how to beat cabin fever. I am a Fla gal transplanted to West Virginia, so I do not drive in the snow! which tends to make me get bored and depressed which in turn causes temporary :caf: insanity:caf: till the spring. I'm sure you get the picture. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Blue eyez: i think many who go through winter kind feel the way you do especially when you are not used to it.

Here in Canada, we ski, skate, cross country ski...now that might interest you...snow shoeing......maybe there are groups in your area that form to do these kind of things...or just go out for a nice walk...there are many nice days that are great for walking and of course if you are dressed warmly it can actually be enjoyable....and the other way of looking at it it does not snow everyday so you can drive the days that are good enough to drive...and walk in the malls...just get out...I think sometimes we have to push ourselves but it is worth it.

Hope you find something you like to do.
Take care

Well, those tennis rackets we use in the summer can be turned into snow shoes and we can get our walking in lol

Go outside and pile the snow and created charactures..

Indoors take up a new hobby that will take awhile to complete, like cross stitching, quilting, 3d puzzles, anything to keep you from looking outside lol
Bundle up on the couch and read a darn good book.
All we need is this kind of diversion from the feeling of a 'long winter' lol
Stay here on DT and hybernate lol
When you do get out, go to a place that is very well lit up, the light keeps depression from setting in.
Burn lights in the house.
Think about how cold and long the winter would be if you didnt have the cabin to get a fever lol
I guess what I am saying, is I havent the foggiest idea, I am the same in winter. But, it is a time of rest, for us as well as earth lol
The hardest part for me is the last part of winter when spring teases us mercilessly lol

Thank you ladies for the advice. Doing stuff indoors will most likely be my best bet. I just hate the cold. Seems if I get cold I just never get warmed up. Hubby last at me last evening as I have already pulled out my flannels and wore socks to bed.........nothing like getting in the mood...LOL

I do drive on nice days but I tend to stay close, as it could snow at any given moment. We live up in the mountains so the local forecast we here doesn't quite pertain to us. Our weather is like night and day to that of the folks who live in the valley. I got out today and feel better, staying busy I think is the key!

BlueEyez! How funny! I am a winter born and bred girl transplanted to the sunshine state! i moved to Florida about a year ago and forgot how hard winter can be! I hated driving in the snow, too! It sucked and I have had some pretty scary experiences with driving in it. My best friend's sister and I went off the road twice. It was so frightening! But you know I suggest just make the best of it. I know that the cold is not that great, but make a snow angel, build a snowman, go sledding. Do something active in the snow! I mean, that is always fun! Otherwise, indoor activities, read good books and watch good movies. Do some shopping. Make a scrapbook! I know what it feels like when you're waiting for spring and there's still snow on the ground in April!!! BLAH!! But make the best of it. I sure do miss my four seasons, though!
