I know you probably think I'm talking about having made it to goal, which by the way is pretty cool, but the victories and success that I'm talking about are much more important.

They are those time you left that last piece of pie on the counter, or passed up the office donut, or din't pick the pepperoni of your kid's pizza, or you went out for walk even though you felt like hell. Those are the important victories. It is these tiny little day to day battles that makes or break us.

The success that I'm most proud of, the one that matter to me now, looking back over the last 2 1/2 years, isn't finally reaching goal. The important thing to me was when I fit into a size 13 again after almost 20 years, or when I found that I could break the 4 mile an hours mark while walking, or when I found out that I could sit with my legs crossed.

I know I'm preaching here, but this is just a reminder to everyone to be positive about their weight loss. The big picture really doesn't matter so much, stay focused on the little things.

I know exactly what you mean. Since starting my Atkins plan, its been hard to resist sweets and breads. I have started making desserts and other types of sweets forother people. This way I can still be around the food, but other people can enjoy whay I made.
THe hardest temptation this week was a strawberry cheesecake I made for my husband. I LOVE LOVE LOVE cheesecake.:x But I didnt touch it!! OR even take a little taste while making it. I kept thinking about how my scale has went down 9 numbers in less than 3 weeks, and thats what really drives me not to indulge! Its like that old dieters saying "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" :)

I agree...it's the little things sometimes...the little victories that matter, for those are what add up to something amazingly wonderful. Your example of not picking off the pepperoni and passing up a donut reminded me of a little success I had today with passing up a bowl of cereal after a dinner which was plenty enough to fill me up...instead, I told myself that I will have cereal for breakfast tomorrow. To many that may not seem like a big accomplishment which is why I like it here b/c a lot of people here know that it really is. Thanks for the words of wisdom, vtmom, and congrats on reaching goal. Love ya, Alecia

WTG sierragirl and alecia2121. I think you both deserve a pat on the back for your victories. I think most of us here understand what a huge things it is to leave that temping food sitting on the counter and not in our mouths.

I'm proud of both of you :D

Vtmom...I so know all about temptations. Especially when my bf is able to eat whatever he wants and I am struggle not to touch the kit kats he has hidden in the freezer or the temptation to drive to the nearest ice cream store. I too am a HUGE stickler for sweets. I am remaining disciplined, or as disciplined as possible. But you know what is a good substitute...those Slim Fast Snack bars. They are pretty yummy and they taste REAL not like those crappy soy candy bars. In fact, they're smaller portioned. I try to eat one every four days or so, just to have a sweet kick, but I also give myself a free day to eat what I want. But I know how hard it is to JUST SAY NO to sweets! They are little annoying boogers!! They're like leeches..."eat me! eat me!" lol

Hang in there! You're doing great! Smiles and hugs
Mel

Hey Mel, I like your relating sweets to leeches. Cause you know if you eat that candy bar its going to attach its self to your hips just like a leech :tomato:

Wow VT... I am loving this forum.. so many people are making it!
And you are so very right about the small victories, those are the ones that get us where we want to be. Not only that, but each victory creates more and more self esteem.
I am so very happy and proud of you.

Please be aware of your free day by keeping a food journal. You don't want to turn a saturday of pan cakes for breakfast, Applebee's for lunch, and 4 slices of pizza at dinner to negate the progress for the week for adding an extra 2000 calories to the day.
