So I'm a year older and I reached my goal weight and all is right with the world ... well any way.

I have spent the last three weeks living with myself and trying to figure out where to go from here. You know the old "am I happy with my weight loss, can I learn to live with maintaining and not dieting, am I as healthy as I can be"? I talked with my Dr and she was very happy with me, but pointed out that I am still considered over weight on the charts, although I am in good shape. I talked to my family about their thoughts, and the hubby is very happy with me right where I am, my sons think I could still work on getting into better shape [they mean running]. I also spent a lot of time talking to myself about what I thought.

Anyhow the bottom line is that I have decided to go for another 20 pounds, and try to reach 150 pounds. I plan to take my time getting there. I am also going to try out some new kinds of exercise. So I want to thank you all for wishing well upon reaching my goal, and hope you'll continue to support me as I try to reach this new goal.

Thanks

Hi vtmom. Congratulations on reaching goal and on setting a new goal - what a decision that must have been. Taking your time is a great idea - you know you can do it because you've come a long way already. Those doctors, they sure can be tough on a person! :) Enjoy your new journey and the new exercises.

Hey vtmom,

I understand completely! I had my own "talks with self" at 2 points so far on my journey.
Taking your time is wise, of course that's easy for me to say to you yet I'll jump up and down on my own scale and curse it for not moving fast enough!:D
But now I consider this being a point of "fine tuning" and I guess the losing is just slow as heck, but hopefully permanent!
It's wonderful you have so much family support, it really takes the pressure off and lets you concentrate on just doing what you need to do for you!

So, what new kinds of exercise are you trying out?

Donna my first new exercise is going to be ice skating. I haven't been on a pair of skate since my youngest was born. I used to love skating [not that I was very good at it]. There is a rink just down the road from me, so I'm going to give it a shot :D

vtmom, that's awesome that you're going to go back to an activity that you love! I think that's the way to not only get some exercize, but you're also doing something that will be fun for you and that's truly being good to yourself. It might bring back some good memories, too, and that's always a bonus.

You've done so well and I'm in awe of people like you and Donna who have not only lost so much, but also gotten in shape.

It's such an inspiration to others around you..... thank you both for sharing your successes with everyone so we can all continue to have hope!

I have no doubts that you'll achieve your new goal in a healthy and safe way! Good luck to you!
