Sure would like some input here on what everyone will be doing for Thanksgiving Dinner.........will it be lowfat? If so do you have any good recipes? Go ahead and eat but in moderation? I am just not for sure how to handle this day. I find that if I totally deprive myself of something I am more apt to binge. What are your thoughts? I really need some input here. I know that I will get some great feed back from you all so please respond ASAP, as it will be here sooner than we think. Thank you in advance. Sandi

I know for me, blue_eyez, I try to healthy up our favorite recipes as much as possible. But it's more about portion control on that day than anything else. I don't deprive myself of everything because that seems to cause bingeing in me, too. I deprive in the way that I won't have as much of everything that I used to have, but I'll still have a bit of the things that I love.

Some of the things that I make aren't important enough to me to eat and add the calories/sugar/fat etc..... maybe you could make a dessert, for instance, that you really like but make the other desserts for others..... ones that you can easily pass by. That might be a thought.....

Just know that one day's worth of eating isn't going to ruin weeks of good work. If you've been working hard up to the day, you'll be okay eating and enjoying yourself.

Thanksgiving dinner will be much like Christmas dinner.

Traditional with all the foods everyone loves and requests.
Some of which aren't the wisest choices for me to partake
of and some that will be fine.

So what's my plan? Good question :D

Wish I had an answer for you. *g* I do have some
thoughts but no hard and fast plan other then playing it
by ear. And we all know how well "that" works.. :)

Part of it depends on what is a trigger point I think.
The smell of favorite foods cooking and baking.
Actually preparing the meal.
Hunger
Emotional mind set concerning the meal itself and what it
signifies.

How to keep those under control could be something as
simple as using a favorite scented oil or perfume under one's
nose. Smelling that vs the baking pies can help.

When preparing the meal also fix some snacks that can be
eaten without any guilt. Hearts of celery with cream cheese,
meat roll ups with Laughing Cow, in a baggy, ready to go.

Don't allow hunger to gain the upper hand. Eat as you work.

For the meal itself. We're the only ones that know if we can
have a portion and be satisfied or if it will lead to emotional
cravings for more. And we're the only ones that know if the
price is too high.

If I feel like I can have some of what I want and then let it
go? I will.

If I think it will re open Pandora's box making it as difficult
as
it was go get to where I'm at now? I won't.

Sure it would be easier if everyone that's coming to dinner
was in the same weight boat I'm in. *s* Sadly that's not the
case. I'm surrounded by the tall and skinny.

Bless their pea pickin little hearts *g*

First off, I'll get this out--I'm a No Diet-er. So either read or ignore the rest of my post with that in mind; really, I am not *on* a plan to go *off* of.

So, that said, yup, I plan to enjoy the holiday, to taste everything, to savor the yummy things (sliver of pumpkin cheesecake; I *do* make the best:o ) and, yup, have a nice glass of whatever wine is going. Possibly two.

HOWEVER, my own personal strategies will be those I use everyday, to load up my plate with more veggies than taters, more meat than sweets. I can have a taste of the twice baked potatoes and not polish off the whole dish. I can stop at the sliver of cheesecake, not pop at the pie. And I will stop eating before 7.

AS I cook, I will burn my yummy candles; as I cook I will drink herbal tea. I will enjoy my loved ones, I will be thankful that we can all get together, that we're all (God willing) alive and well.

Mine will be alot like Jessica's. Because we are stationed overseas the holidays are always a big thing with all our friends getting together, everyone contributing something. I will take a vegetable dish. But i will try all of the food. i will just eat in moderation but I will enjoy myself. After dinner all of the women will clean up and then go for a walk.

Take care.

Thanks everyone, I was kind of leaning toward eating a bit of everything, in moderation however. But getting feed back from others is always a good thing too. Oh Jess, pumpkin cheesecake.........yum......lol
