View Full Version : Question about One A Day
jennylea 02-12-04, 11:54 AM This question isn't for me but for my aunt who asked me if I had heard anything about this.
Have you heard anything about the One A Day vitamins that are supposed to aid in weight loss? I told her I had heard of them but didn't buy them because I figured it was a crock. She had a coupon and bought some but didn't want to take them if they are dangerous, etc. I'm not sure what is in them that is supposed to help weight loss. If anyone has heard anything or knows, please reply! I told her I would ask here because you all know alot about alot of stuff! Thanks in advance!
Hi Jenny: I did a google search but re One a Day vitamins....and then are are one a day weight loss vitamins...so I am not sue which ones she has...I do not believe vitamins can help with weight loss.....
But then again maybe some one will teach this old gal something new today...
Take care jenny...
Louise
jennylea 02-12-04, 12:15 PM Thanks Louise. The ones she has are One A Day Weight Loss vitamins.
jessica 02-12-04, 12:54 PM ???I'm afraid they do it with caffeine. They call the active ingredient green tea extract, but what's that? Often "diet helps" use a form a upper (caffeine, ephedra, etc) to suppress the appetite.
But I can't claim to know alot about the One A Days...
Maybe we need a pharmaceutical rep to field this one?
jennylea 02-12-04, 12:58 PM I will tell her the info I've gotten so far. I haven't done any other research other than this. Thanks!

I found these reviews for One-A-Day Weight smart vitamins. I told her not to take them and sent her this link. Thanks for all your help!
Allison 02-12-04, 01:21 PM Hi Jennylea (love your name)!
I just wanted to tell you about my experience with these vitamins. Nausea...at first...I don't think that these are for people with weak stomachs. After about a week with daily intake, the nausea stopped. I have always taken vitamins, but these do give me more energy throughout the day. As far as weight loss goes, I couldn't tell any difference. So, when I finished the bottle, I bought different ones. Overall, I think that the bad out weighs the good. But, I do think that many of the reviews on that link were people overreacting. Just my two cents...:)
jennylea 02-12-04, 01:53 PM Thanks for replying Allison! My name is actually Jenny Lea. Just shortened it up, I guess! I'm never good at picking names for things like this. I relayed the info to my aunt and she's not going to take them. People overreacting? On a website? Never,...... ;)
Thanks again! Nice to meet you!
sierragirl 02-12-04, 01:58 PM I personally have never tried them, but when they first came out I did some research on them. Lots of people said the got really nauseous after taking them, mostly because they didnt eat before hand. No one reported seeing any kind of loss either.
I take them, and I do agree that I have experienced nausua while taking them. But I do when I take any pills, so I just chalked up as that.
I take them for the multi-vitamin aspect, and i guess I fell for the green tea aspect that they throw in. You hear so many great things about green tea.
I will admit I mostly bought them 'cuz I had a coupon and plus i got 30 pills free....
I think anyone who looses weight with them because they aren't just taking a pill, they are exercising and eating better.. and they give the pill all the credit.
When dieting, (or when you aren't dieting!) I think a good multi is very important. But I wouldn't really recommend one a day weight smart, they are just trying to cash in on the whole "diet money making thing"
bird songs 02-13-04, 08:12 AM Green tea naturally has caffeine doesnt it?
According to fitday.com on the nutrition panel, I exceed so many of my daily needs. I would worry about taking a multivitamin, because of the fat soluble vitamins..
What if I add that to the already excess fat soluble vitamins I have put in my system by eating properly?
If you get more vitamins than your body needs, you'll just pee expensive urine (well its the truth!) the excess just comes out in waste products, specifically urine. I don't think a multi would hurt, but if you feel comfortable with the nutrients you are already getting in your diet thats great. many people don't eat enough variety of foods to be able to do that. If you have any more concerns about it though, give a local nutrienist a call. I wouldn't suggest talking to a doctor (unless they specifically deal in nutrition and weight loss.. because well I don't believe they know as much as they should about this type of thing.. you know what the call guys who graduate at the bottom of their med school class? doctors.
