How long has it been since you rode a real bike?

I'm not sure about everyone else but I've always found that the exercise bikes are harder to use than real bikes. I can't go long on them at all.

Perhaps you are tired and need a break for a day or 2.

Wow, I can so relate to this one!! I cannot give you a perfect answer, but I am finding the same thing. I have owned my exercise bike for almost a year now. During the spring/summer/early fall, it was easy to go out on my reg. bike for 8-10 miles, then come home and do a few on the exercise bike. Now because of weather, I have to use the indoor bike more, and am finding it is that much harder to push my totals up. Perhaps it has something to do with your resistance settings. If you have them too high, you can be doing more work for less payout, and if you have them too low, you could be going too fast and your body does not have a chance to catch up. I had to lower mine, now I do about 11/2-2hrs. for 11-15 miles, depending on what I feel I need.
What I do know for sure though is, you are getting on it and doing something. That helps lots just in itself!!! Keep up the good work!!! Many blessings.

Things like how much or little you have eaten or drank that day, when the last time you worked out hard, how old you are now, etc. can make a big difference.

If you don't have enough fuel or water in the tank, you will run out of energy really fast.

Your body also gets used to an exercise routine over a relatively short period of time, and any deviation from that set routine can feel devastating.

I remember reading an article about a professional road bicycler that went on a fun trip with some friends mountain biking. He got a flat tire in the middle of the desert during a big thunder storm, and had to run/walk the bike up the side of the canyon. It almost killed him! He had to stop multiple times going up the hill to rest. This is a guy with a resting heart rate in the 30s, that rode and trained 5-7 hours a day and 5 days a week.

I would only be worried if you can feel you are having chest pains, or can feel your heart really racing, having irregular beats, or something. If you are really concerned, however, you should go see a doctor. They can find out what is really going on pretty quickly with a treadmill test.

Later.
