I'm on day 4 of my diet and I'm doing really well. I'm counting calories and fat. However, late yesterday evening I got a headache that I have yet to be able to shake. I wonder if my body adjusting to the new diet has anything to do with the headache. Is my body in shock from being used to having fatty, high calorie foods?

Oh, forgot to add... I have cut back on my caffeine but haven't cut it out completely. I have a diet soda in the morning, then water the rest of the day. I know that sometimes quitting caffeine can cause headaches but I haven't completely cut it out. And drinking a diet soda this morning did nothing to help the headache.
Caffeine is probably the problem. I have had terrible headaches from cutting caffeine. I have never had headaches from cutting food, however.
Cutting lots of calories can make you pretty grumpy and emotional for the first 1-2 weeks. People around you will definitely notice. Later.

I agree with cfj - our bodies really get use to the caffeine.

IMHO it's probably from the aspartame cutback. i've heard of many cases where people stop drinking the diet sodas and get migraines from cutting out the aspartame(nutrasweet). are you drinking any of the new diet sodas with splenda? i'm just curious if we will be seeing people who drink those regularly develop problems when they stop after months. caffeine can also attribute to the problem.

Actually I'm not drinking many sodas at all. I sometimes have a diet coke in the morning but then after that, it's water the rest of the day. Today it's been strictly water. The headaches have passed though. I guess whatever it was, my body got used to not having it :D
