I set my goal at 1200/day, but is that too low?? I can't seem to find a resource to tell me what level to set my calories at? I read that a 1000 a day cut will result in 2lb/week loss...

Hey i'm new.
Im from P.R, if you go to a web site like ediets.com you can make like a profile were you write, your age, actual weight, goal wight, height, and in how much time you want to lost weight, so it tells you how is your BMI and how many calories a day.

I did it, and its says that i have to take a minimun of 1200-1300, i thinks that's a lot.
Because a healthy diet have 2000 calories.

Ps. My english writing isnt very well, hope you understand.

I lost all my weight by aiming for 1500 calories a day, and I'm 5 foot 5 inches tall. Many days I ate above that and it still worked ok. At the start I was losing 2-5 pounds a week but it soon settled out to 1-3 pounds a week.

Don't try to eat too few calories because it will slow down your metabolism and backfire. :( A better idea is to step up your exercise if you're not losing fast enough for your liking. :jn Not only do you burn calories, you also hike up your resting metabolism too - hooray!

In fact, I read on the BBC that you lose more weight on 1000 calories a day than on a starvation diet for that very reason (they've done scientific tests on some poor suckers, I hope they got paid well!)
