Exercise journal: 01/10/06

I think one of my main problems is that I don’t have anyone to answer to. No one asks me how I did on eating that day or if I exercised. I see a councilor every Wednesday but that isn’t helpful in the ways of working out and eating right everyday. I only have to answer to her once a week. So here goes my journal stating what exercise I do each day and how my eating went for the day.

45 minutes
3 plus miles
Various inclines and speeds
Weight Training: arms

I ate healthy and well until about 10:00 at night. I always do that!! Instead of just jumping in bed and getting a good nights rest I sometimes binge late at night. I need to learn to control that.

Exercise:

30 minutes on the Elliptical
Weight training: upper arms
Calories burned: 320

I ate healthy. I still did the late night eating though. I got home from the gym late and was super hungry. Guess I better start eating bigger dinners or maybe just eat dinner a little later so it tides me over.

One disadvantage of going to the gym with my fiancé is that he is so darn skinny that he doesn’t do cardio. Therefore after he gets done with his weight training it’s time to go. Sometimes I’d like to spend a little more time on the cardio. He’s working on upping his reps so that I do have a little more time. It is also a blessing too though. Sometimes I get carried away and will stay on that darn machine too long if I’m at the gym alone.

Question: How much cardio is too much cardio???

I can't answer your question - but I wanted to stop by and say "hi"

Your doing great ! :D

answering to ourselves is hard and yet we are our worst criticizers

No workout today.:( We planned on it but I got in a car accident instead. My car was towed and it is going to cost me (so far) about a thousand bucks.:c( When you are planning on getting married you don’t have an extra thousand dollars hanging around! I am okay though just a little banged up. I didn’t break anything or get a black eye. That would have really looked great in the wedding pics. I think a good walk would do me some good today. I am stiff! I’ll need to take it easy for a few days though. Thank goodness my fiancés sister is a massage therapist!!:sigh:

That money was supposed to go toward a mattress. I can't sleep on a blow up mattress forever!! Such is life, such is life...

B2B,
Glad you are ok, too bad about the accident and your car being towed.

In response to your first post, your fiance should also be doing cardio to strengthen his heart, lungs, respiratory system, circulatory system etc. It isn't always just about weight. And he should be more willing to support you in your fitness efforts, don't get stuck with someone who won't support you and it is always just about them, that will suck!!! Because it won't be like that just with exercise, it will be like that with everything.

Personally I think 30-60 is the most cardio someone needs to do, if they are doing it several times a week. And you could do some strength training as well. Build those muscles to burn that fat!!! LOL.

Oh, my man does support me big time. I didn’t mean to make it sound like he doesn’t. When he is done working out he will tell me that I can keep going as long as I want. My problem is that I feel guilty making him stand around while I keep on truckin’. He’ll get on the treadmill next to me and walk while I finish if I ask him to. He is actually the best thing that has ever happened to me. He loves to work out as much as I do so I know we will keep a healthy life style of working out and weight training. That is a huge plus!!

I’ve been trying to take it easy since the accident (I got in a car accident on Thursday, I don’t know if I posted that). I took the “day off” Thursday and Friday to recoop. I went to the gym Saturday and Monday getting in a little less than usual but at least going. My back and neck are in bad shape so I don’t want to injure them even more. My eating has been pretty out of wack. We went out to dinner a few times and that always throws me off. But hey, it is a new week and I am ready to merge into the healthy-intaking ways again.

Through all of the craziness of the past week I finally learned something. First, my sweetie loves me unconditionally. Not that I didn’t know that before but he has proved it time and time again with flying colors. Second, don’t freak out until you have a final answer from the source. My stress level will appreciate this one if I file it this ol’ brain o’ mine. Third money comes and money goes, life goes on…this is what dirt poor feels like. Fourth, there are decent human beings out there that care more about others welfare and improvement than being paid…my councilors grown a halo. Fifth, I look dang hot with short hair :o (hair extensions are of the devil). X-(

Can I just erase from Tuesday on this week? This is more difficult than I thought!X-( I usually get to the gym at least 4 times a week. With the wedding only 2 ½ weeks away and so much to do for it I am tuckered out and out of time. I made it to the gym twice last week. TWICE!:( How lame is that. I thought I’d be able to step it up the last couple of weeks before just to look extra fine in my beautiful gown. Blast. My fiancé and I have planned to put working out first this week. Here’s hoping we make it at least 4 times…

And food, bridal shower, birthday parties, family gatherings. Pizza (yes, I burnt our dinner and we aren’t even married yet). I was just welcoming him and spaced the chicken on the stove.:x Twitterpatted I guess... No more giving in just because it is there and it is a “special occasion”. Thank goodness I didn’t put any weight on…I just didn’t lose any either. I guess I really don’t need to. They are just vanity pounds anyway but I'd really like to!:o I just need to get my workouts in and my eating under control.

Just a comment, do you see all the stress that you are putting on yourself all for the sake of looks? You have a ton of things to do for this wedding coming up, a wedding where the groom proposed to the bride at the weight she was, it wasn't conditional upon her losing 10 pounds, he wanted her.

What about letting go of the pressure, get to the gym as much as you can just to enjoy working out, and to relieve stress. Then, enjoy the rest of your 2 weeks, planning, dating, having fun, parties, etc. This is one of the most exciting and fun times of your life, don't kill it by always feeling bad about weight, workouts, etc.

Even if you ever, heaven forbid, got married again, it will never, ever, in your life, be quite like this time.

You are right. I am the one that has an issue with my weight, not him. I will do just that. Thanks for the pep-talk! :D

Well here I am, two months after the wedding and I’ve put on weight.X-( I can’t even fit in my favorite pair of jeans any more!! It hurts, ohhhh it hurts. My husband and I just stopped going to the gym after the honeymoon. We’d go about once a week, twice if we were really lucky. So much to do and so little time, it’s rough.

We’ve been trying harder the past week and a half. We did pretty well last week. This week I made a goal to run 12 miles. I usually run between 2 and 3 miles each gym trip. I did 2.75 in the 30 minute time period I had on the cardio yesterday. I can do it. I just have to put my mind to it and stick with it. That means as little as 4 trips to the gym running at least 3 miles each trip. On leg days I don’t get any cardio in at the gym though so that means getting up before work and running outside. That is tough to do when hubby is at home in my warm bed snoozing. I have to do it though. I don’t want to just give up and let go now just because I am married. I remember one of my cousins just started wearing sweats after she got married and packed on a few pounds. Heck no! That will not be me.

So wish me luck. I’ll start updating again for motivation and remembrance.
