Hi
I am new here and this is my first post I am trying to lose 25 pounds but i would be happy losing only 20 but I don’t know the right foods to eat if anyone have any suggestions as to a meal plan to follow or just some good healthy foods to eat that would be a big help. I like to eat salads but I cant find any good salad dressings If you know of any good brand names and flavors could you let me know it would really help me and my wallet because I tend to spend a ton on salad dressing trying to find one that taste good enough to eat. Thanks to everyone here you all have been my inspiration to finally try to lose this weight.

Let's see if i can help you out in the salad dressings department. You're not supposed to go with a nonfat variety, as you need the fat with the vegetables in order to absorb all the nutrients in the food. Your best bet is anything low-fat, and my favorite is Newman's Own Light Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. It's not low-fat, but it is low-calorie. 45 cals per serving, 40 from fat.

Hello Tabentley
Welcome to our humble obold:) You're going to love it here at DT we are all encouragers and we're going to help you loose those 20lbs and you can be a new you in 2006. I'm Taneisha I've been a member here at DT for 2 years now and I can vauch for this Message Board the people here give you helpful advice and all the good stuff. But with Diet Food I think you should try the South Beach Diet you can find the dinners cereals cereal bars in your local grocery store this diet truly does work. I wouldn't try any low fat dressings you can still use Ranch Dressing but try to use a Minimal amount don't keep piling on more dressing everytime it runs out.
I hope you enjoy your stay here bye

Green beans are great low cal easy to get veggies.

I enjoy Kraft's line of "Light Done Right" salad dressings (at least, I've been using their Caesar Salad dressing & Coleslaw Salad dressings for over ten years). This line of reduced fat dressings has 50% of the normal amount of fat, so they are still good and tasty.
But, watch out for portion control, more than a couple of flat tablespoons of dressing on or in a salad is too much, and you're just kidding yourself if you add a lot more than that.

ps. If you're really hungry, salads taste just great without any dressing at all.

That's a new one on me. Where have you heard about that? only eating vegetables week after week, you're right, you do need some trace amounts of fat for proper nutrition, unless you're also eating avocadoes and such.]
I once tried one of the nonfat varieties of salad dressings -- didn't taste like salad dressing at all (so, what's the point?) and it was horribly expensive.
