View Full Version : "what have you done today to make you feel proud?"
I changed my signature line to this line from the theme song of "The Biggest Loser". I am using it as a baby-step mantra to get my motivation back, and thought I would put it out to all of you.
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
This can be a thread to boast of those little acheivements along the way to your goals ... like excersising when you really did not want to, resisting the call of the cookie jar, or getting your water in, or such.
I'll start ... Normally i drink only diet cola ... today i only had 2 sodas so far, and 4 glasses of water. Yeah!
LadyWendy 01-12-06, 09:04 PM WTG Heather :1stprize:
I have gone 3 days with out having sugar, flour, white bread. I'm going to have to ask hubby to put his gummy bears away as they keep calling me.
Way to go Wendy .. I have a tough time avoiding the sugar and carbs ... I have considered giving them up, but don't have the willpower yet.
GotFruit? 01-13-06, 04:15 AM I LOVE that you've started this thread! Of course, I've been using this line out of that theme song now for a couple months. Even though I've been losing since June 6 (2005), I STILL find it a very empowering phrase. I'm going to have it put onto a tshirt :D
Well, being a day when hubby's home 'with', my daily victories are commonly small. However, when we went down to wash clothes at the laundrymat, instead of having a 'normal' 6 inch Subway turkey, I had a wrap (80 calories less). Then, shared a 16 oz. Jamba Juice Enlightened smoothie made with Splenda (my portion only around 90 calories and THEN, instead of insisting we take the bus home, I walked back up the hill to our apartment. Dinner was typically portion controlled, homemade chili made with ground turkey meat. Followed by 1/2 c. Carb Control ice cream.
Tomorrow's my big exercise day... so will have much more to be proud of tomorrow.
Once again, everyone keep striving to enjoy that feeling of amazement and awe in what potential you are unlocking within yourself every day!
William 01-13-06, 04:46 AM im really impressed by how well everyone is doing. i also really love this topic, its the small victories that help us along on the right path. as for myself i avoided the frozen pizza that was calling to me and had a much more healthy choice turkey sandwich and ice water for dinner. great job fighting temptation everyone.
Way to go Williams and Gotfruit. Food choices are the best way we can change in little ways ... they do have a big impact, especially when it involves fast food items. Walking insteas ofthe bus is also a great victory. Good for you!
I stopped eating chips and chocolate today or I'm off my addiction now , I used to eat 1family pack chips ,2-3 choco par and maybe more .... I feel relaxed now !
the title you used attracted me ,I will hang it in my room as well my bathroom :)
good for you. I used to eat a whole mega bag myself .. now can make a smaller bag do at least 3 evenings ... it takes a lot of will to change that. Good for you!
dec1905 01-13-06, 03:18 PM I walked a hilly area for an hour today. I actually thought about pretending I forgot my tennis shoes today so I wouldn't have to walk during lunch but I sucked it up and did it.
Bride2Be 01-13-06, 03:29 PM Nice, I have been looking for some motivational quotes to hang up on my fridge and bathroom mirror. This is a winner. Thanks!!
well first I became a member of here, plus I joined a gym....its a start...
candiceH 01-14-06, 04:46 PM WHen I have had the graving for my low fat icecream this week I have scouped out a serving and put the container back in the freezer. I used to eat it right out of the carton.
Also after 7 day I have lost 2 lbs. :) Happy Happy!
Candice
Hi Heather, Nice to see you are still around. I'm back at it after awhile of slacking off.
Today I had poached eggs. We always have eggs and sausage on the weekend, but I had my toast dry and poached my eggs, and no sausage, so that is a good way to start my weekend.
Maryse
You are all doing great. I didn't do much today to be proud of other than i'll be under my 1500 calories. I played cards in a crib tournament from 10:00 to 5:00 So killed pretty much all my day. But I did punch in a good week.
Jessamine 01-14-06, 07:13 PM I'm proud today because I signed on at Diettalk.
This is a great thread and I too love that song. I honestly think hearing that phrase is why I kept tuning in week after week.
YOur title caught my eye as well. Oprahs website sells a shirt for about $25. I happened to buy one. This gives it a whole new twist. So inaddition to helping others I will ALSO help myself. AFter all if I'm not around I can't help anyone now can I. I am proud to have stayed at 1200 calories on a SAturday to boot. WITH my hubbie! thanks for the post
Way to go everyone. Been busy, so have a bit of catching up to do:
Kim I tend to avoid hills ... good for you for ging for it.
Jenn good for you on joinign the gym, and joining here. Hope you are getting motivation from both places.
Candice Ice cream is one of my weaknesses too ... way to go on controling the monster!
Maryse weekend breakfasts can be tough ... good for you on being strong.
Boblin being under calories IS something to be proud of ... don't knock the small steps.
Jessamine [I love your name!] Good for you for coming in to diettalk. I find checking in at least a couple times a week helps keep the motivation going ... the show is really good for that too.
LisaB Good for you for supporting yourself and others, and for keeping the cals low too.
As for me, Today, I bought a couple of boxes of fruit and veggies ... need to eat better, and have better foods on hand for hubby and teens. Did not buy any junk food items.
Pamela1224 01-16-06, 05:54 PM I stayed on program today and didn't sway off at all... i fought a major craving off by having more water-
go me! go everyone!! woo hoo we rock! lol
oh and i haven't killed my boss yet...(oops wrong forum)
Jessamine 01-16-06, 07:59 PM Everybody is doing such a great job! I'm glad I wandered into this thread. It's very affirming! :D
Today I posted in my DT journal - including my starting weight and waist measurement.
And I put together an eating plan for tomorrow so that I won't be caught grabbing the fastest thing I can find.
And I bought new running shoes that don't hurt my toes so that I can't continue to use that as an excuse to not exercise.
3 things. Must be some sort of record for me.
Well, im proud of doing more exercise after work. I did 45 minutes this morning but decided to get another 15 minutes on the treadmill after I got home, so when I get an hour in, I feel great
Maryse
EllieFran 01-17-06, 01:57 AM Oh! I love this thread! It's so great to hear everyone's little triumphs.
So this actually happened a few days ago but I still want to share it. I made a frozen pizza for my family (I had salad) but when I was slicing it, I got a huge gooey piece of cheese and pepperoni stuck on my finger. I almost popped it in my mouth without thinking about it, but I stopped and stuck it in my daughters mouth instead. Now that's will power!
Today I stayed below 1400 Calories. It feels like a small thing but hey, it adds up to be a big (or should I say thin) thing.
Wow you all are doing so great.
today im proud because my first ever art exhabition is opening tonight and even though its only been 8 days i feel so much better knowing im doing somthing about it. and even though i had the day off today i didnt binge.
GotFruit? 01-17-06, 06:36 PM Ellen, Lisa, Grace, Mary & Jessamine!! All fabulous things anyone would be proud over!!
Ellen, I noticed you wanted to get down to 120, so looked up your profile. I have to ask... Are you actually 2 ft. 3 inches tall? Please forgive me if I've been insensitive.:o Its not out of mean spirit that causes me to question... I just tend to have a child like curiosity at times. :sigh:
EllieFran 01-17-06, 07:26 PM Ha, Ha. I'm 5'3" (almost). I've changed that on my profile before but it seems to keep going back to 2'3" every time I change my weight. (Or maybe I'm just going crazy). I'll have to keep an eye on that.
Today I'm proud of growing 3 feet in a matter of minutes!
GotFruit? 01-17-06, 07:58 PM LMAO!! GOOD DEAL! :D
I guess 120's a good weight for someone your height. When I was down to 130, I was only about 10% body fat and WAYyyy too thin (the dr. had said I should stop no lighter than 150 - 'ideal' for me being 160). But, I'm nearly 5'8" and have the bone/muscle more like that of a med. sized man (unfortunately).
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I'm glad I wasn't offending a smaller stature person... I would have been so sad and ashamed of myself :o
Today I took the stairs at the Docs office, found out my blood pressure is finally under control, and decided to do more of the housework instead of making my teens do it. I have concluded there is a difference between training a child, and just being lazy.
bigslick 01-19-06, 06:30 PM I figured out how to do one of those weight tickers to add to my sig:D
hnyak .. shoot thats why I had 4 kids! Distribution of work load! Ha!
I am proud today... because my hubbie asked me to join him for lunch at Big Boy. I was dying for a big boy combo with fries and the works. But chose a grilled chicken salad and lo cal dressing instead! Yeah me! Yeah all of us!
EllieFran 01-19-06, 07:25 PM I'm proud because today I signed up for a 10 week incentive program at my gym. You get points for every workout you do at the gym, then turn your points in at the end of the week for a chance to win a prize. Next week they do a body-comp test. Then they'll do another one at the end of the 10 weeks.
Today I am proud that I did 47 minutes on the treadmill and did a 30 minute taebo tape. Also was my b-day and didn't go much over my calories for the day, even with a small piece of cake.
Maryse
GotFruit? 01-19-06, 11:08 PM I'm so proud of you too! Being good on your BD is AMAZING discipline! CONGRATS on both your b.d. AND being the Queen of SelfControl today!! :1stprize: :cake: :bd :bdaybanne
WELL, I've been so busy I've missed days of coming onto this thread to share.
YESTERDAY I made myself SUPER proud by not only getting back into the fitness center since Fri..... but when it got 'tough' after 1 hr. 20 minutes, I took a SHORT break and got a light snack to keep me going. Then allowed about 20 mins. to let that 'settle' on my stomach.... and then got right back on that ellipitical! YAY me! (hehe) I got on for another 20 mins & felt 'spent', so got off to drink water. After only 5 minutes rest, I got myself BACK on to push myself past my comfort zone. Then I did another 20 mins. I figured if I wasn't able to do a 2nd hour all in one stretch, I'd just keep pluggin' away at it until I "Got 'er done" :D I didn't stop until I had burned off a total of 1400 calories. (that'll teach my body to give me a hard time, LOL :D) As usual, I did fine with watching what/when/how much I ate.
Today, hubby & I went to Starbucks for breakfast, then I dropped my poodle to the groomers. THEN, I jumped on the ellipitical for an 'extra' session (today's not one of my normal days to be in there). MUCH to my surprise, my hour on there today, my legs felt MUCH stronger, more stamina... PREinventory week strong. WHOO HOO! I'm so happy! Lunch was a Subway salad w/only 1 of their lowfat dressing pouches. Tonight I'm having SmartOnes Ravioli Florentine. Dessert will be 1/2 banana and later snack before my 8:30 pm 'cut off' will be cold grapes and a few chunks of canteloupe
EVERYONE'S DOING GREAT! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! I'M SO EXCITED TO HEAR OUR WEEK'S WEIGH INS!! :)
Peepers 01-20-06, 08:43 AM This isn't much, but... yesterday was supposed to be my day off from exercise, but instead I walked/jogged for 1/2 hour on my treadmill. And I didn't binge on anything all day like I did the day before... so I guess I can be proud of that!
:)
Yes peepers, that is definintely something to be proud of.
Way to go on perseverence with the excercise gotfruit!
Thanks GotFruit on the b-day wish :)
Today i'm not only proud of myself, but of my two 14 year old sons. They both want to lose some weight and get fitter. We each took our turn on the treadmill this morning before work and school. They both did 2 miles, they do it quicker than me though :) and they both had a healthy breakfast.
Maryse
GotFruit? 01-20-06, 11:33 PM Hey, Maryse!! That's great news that your sons are being inspired by you!! I think 14 yr. olds do EVERYTHING without nearly as much effort as us old foggies, LOL :D I only did 1 hr. on the ellipitical this morning (-800 calories), BUT, this afternoon, did LOTS of walking.... (first down from my house to the mall, then here, then there) Probably burned another 400 cals. there. I've had a very light eating day so far. Breakfast was 1/2 dry bagel w/coffee. Lunch was a turkey wrap at Subways (190 calories) and 1/2 hr. ago had the small half of a small banana. I've got homemade chicken soup (only breast meat) in crock pot for dinner. So excited about this week-end's weigh in. If you don't mind your Ps & Qs, I'll be catching up with you! Be good! :)
Maryse ... its great that you are doing a good job on your own health, and are having an influence on your sons.
GotFruit? ... You are doing great, both with the food, and the excersise. I have a feeling you will outdo us all!
my proud moment today was when I got on the treadmill. I usually take sunday off, but I decided that I would do some. Did 20 minutes, and had it up to 10 incline and 4.5 miles per hour.
Im trying hard with the boys, tell them what is good, what to avoid, they are doing great.
Maryse
WildCard 01-23-06, 10:31 AM TWO things I have done to make me feel proud.
1. I cut out diet cokes and coffee out of my diet and have been caffeine free for 3 weeks now.
2. I started lifting weights 3 times a week. This is my 4th week and I feel great.
stickn2it 01-23-06, 11:25 AM I have been waking up and starting my day with a bit MORE CONFIDENCE over the last couple of days. That is not something I experience on the regular. This morning I only hit the snooze button twice...I-) a huge step up for me. I also shed a few pounds, it's probably just he beginning water weight since I just started, but hey ITS A START...some motivation to really kick it up.:cheer:
Wildcard ... I cut out coffee years ago, but am still addicted to my diet cokes. Good for you for giving them up!
stickn2it .. way to go! that snooze button can be a real challenge. Keep up the great work.
For me, today I have lost over 3 pounds this week. and I am pushing my water intake ... I am usually drier than a camel ... only drink diet cola, and very little water. I am trying to reverse the quantities. I have gotten down to 2 cans a day, and 4 glasses of water.
stickn2it 01-26-06, 03:02 PM Way to go hnyack on the water intake and cola reversal.
I manage to only hit the snooze once this morning, am continuing to do well on my calories.
hnyak great job on your water! I am working on the same am up to about 4 cups now. I am proud that last night I splurged on a fewglasses of wine with hubby ( kids not at home!) felt guilty but stayed within my cals for the day by having a 3 oz potato and HUGE salad with a tad of broiled chicken and a smidge of dressing. I was still starving. ( probably due to the alcohol) :o
but I drak lots of water last night and woke up with a 2 pound weigh loss. Hopefully not dehydration!great job to all!
Joan Mack 01-26-06, 07:15 PM I am proud because I did volunteer work and saw what a great job I did when I proof read. Only 2 minor errors! I don't have anything to be proud of with my diet except that I did not eat much. Unfortunately, little exercise but will try for an hour swim on Saturday.:)
GotFruit? 01-27-06, 02:32 AM Today, proud of just keeping with the old grind of water/eating right... since I don't normally get exercise on a Thurs.
But my Wed. MORE than made up for things to be proud of.
I started my morning off as normal at 24 Hr. Fitness but only did 1 hr. on the ellipitical. That was because I had SO many errands that were neccessary for me to run. So, threw on jacket (it was raining) and headed out on first bus that went by. Got a 16 oz. Enlightened Jamba Juice with protein & immunity boosts added. It was a good thing I did because I was not able to eat until 6:30 pm.8-| From there, ran across the street to Post Office, then ran down to the dentist (just to pay off hubby's tab there), then ran down to bank to get some $$. Grabbed next bus the opposite direction. Transferred once in Honolulu to take bus to dog's vet to pick up medications (flea/heartworm, etc). Grabbed another bus BACK to transfer point where I wait for another bus to go to Pearl Harbor's Exchange. Our vacume had died so I needed to buy a new one, but box is so big the bus won't let you bring it on to get it back to my house. So, dragged it over to the UPS store where I shipped it to myself. Ran back to the commissary for $100 of stuff I had to drag home in a duffle bag (YES, VERY HEAVY). Ran to the bus stop, where the bus WAS... until I got THREE FEET AWAY! X-( It pulled off leaving me there :c( I sat down on the bench, knowing it was going to be another 40 minutes before another showed up, it was beginning to rain... I broke down in tears of frustration. Suddenly, I found a strength & determination I seldom experience, well up within me. I said, "No! I will NOT be a victim!" With that, I dragged my duffle bag, purse, 1 extra bag of groceries and began to walk swiftly down 1/2 mile to the next street where an abundance of bus routes run. After only about 2 mins. of being there, a bus pulled up which I jumped onto. Five minutes later, it was PASSING THE BAD BUS THAT LEFT ME STANDING THERE AT THE EXCHANGE! HEHEHEHE :D YAY ME!! So, I ride, transfer and take another bus back over the mountain to my town. By this time, its getting late and its raining hard again. I decide to go back to the 24 Hr. Fitness center where I had left stuff in my locker. I did another hour on the ellipitical after my long/hard day!!! Whoo hoo! I felt like Super Woman or something! It was SO empowering to push past anger, physical exhaustion and discouragement ... making the hard choices and conquering! :) Supper was McD's grilled chicken sandwich, no mayo and discarding the bun, 1/2 order of fries (no salt) and a 160 calorie ice cream cone. Total calories burned on the ellipitical was 1450 :D WHEW! I slept well! I-)
got fruit, all I have to say is you are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! Case closed!
GotFruit? 01-28-06, 01:40 AM Thanks, lisa. To be honest, I amazed myself! Gee that's fun! (hehe) :D
Today I did 1 1/2 hrs. on the ellipitical which only burned off 1400, but I had to run 2 errands and get home to pack up my laptop to ship off (FedEx was supposed to come any time from 1-5 pm). Got home at like 11:20 only to find a tag on my door that he had come at 10:18 X-( So, after calling to set up another pick up time (Mon.), went out and did more errands before returning home, walking dogs, doing 3 loads of dishes (by hand), cooking dinner. *sigh* its another night of trying to stay awake until I hit the bed, lol :) Supper was a Smart Ones salisbury steak/mac. & cheese meal plus a bowl of steamed veggies. I'll finish the day up with 1/2 apple and 1/2 orange (I THINK I have one in there) I didn't get enough water while on the run today so will be pushing that all night too.
Everyone keep up the good work!!
stickn2it 01-28-06, 05:33 PM It was yesterday...but I managed to workout for 1 hour and 20 min. I didn't even realize how long I had been in the gym...It was great...so proud of myself.:cheer:
Today, I went to a babyshower ate responsibily even though I was among some co-workers and friends who were pigging out. For once, I don't feel guilty about what I ate.
stickn2it 01-28-06, 05:35 PM I meant 1 hour and 50 minutes...sorry
Joan Mack 01-28-06, 06:17 PM Hi: Today I walked for 45 minutes and swam for 45 minutes. This is the first time I went to our local school's brand new pool. It is very nice. Tomorrow I intend to walk for 45 minutes. Monday I hope to swim for 45 minutes if the school is open. We are expecting another snow storm which may close down the school. It was tough walking but it should get easier when I do it more often. I have arthritis and my whole body felt achey as I trugged along. The swim was fun and it was nice not to have to ride for 30 minutes to get to a pool. The place where I walk is only ten minutes away and very pretty. It helps to keep it close to home, save on gas, save time and aggravation and also I like it better being close to "my little town".
If I can keep this up, I am sure to lose weight and feel better.
stickn2it 01-29-06, 12:22 AM Great Job on the walking, Joan Mack. Keep up the good work.
Joan Mack 01-30-06, 08:28 PM Hi everybody...Sunday I was sick so did very little. Today I did 45 minutes, 3 miles and 1 houir swim. It was great and I feel better already.
You all are doing great ... the little bits do add up. Keep it up.
stickn2it 01-31-06, 04:17 PM I was a little sick yesterday, but today I managed to get up and get right back on track with my calorie counting and water intake. Yah Yah for me!!!
Joan Mack 01-31-06, 08:56 PM It was rainey and cold today so I went to the Mall and walked for 45 minutes. Hope tomorrow to walk and also swim. Thanks for all the encouragement.
GotFruit? 02-01-06, 02:31 AM Its not a day I normally get any physical activity, but we walked down to the laundrymat and then back up to our house again.
What I really feel proud about was the fact that we went to the mexican restaurant for late lunch/early supper at 3pm and ordered 1 combo plate. Everything on there tasted AMAZING & I felt I had died and gone to hog heaven. YET, I managed to restrain myself and didn't even eat 1/2 of each thing! YAY!! Also, ordered cheesecake flan (had the texture of flan but tasted like cheesecake) but only had 3 small bites and left the remaining to hubby.
Tonight we ate super lite, some leftover salmon from last night... then shared grapes, an apple and a small banana.
So, its been a neat day and being able to borrow his work computer for a few minutes has made me really happy so I could touch base with all of you here. YAY! Tomorrow I get to go to 24 Hr. to work out DOUBLE YAY!! :D
Joan Mack 02-01-06, 08:29 PM Walked 3 miles, 45 minutes and swam for 45 minutes. I can fit into a blouse which was too tight before. I'm so happy, I'm going to wear it tomorrow. Hooray!
GotFruit? 02-02-06, 04:46 AM 2 x 45 minute sessions on the ellipitical this A.M., 1 additional 45 minute session on the ellipitical this P.M. In between, much walking carrying heavy backpack (filled with canned goods, flour, cat food, etc). Kept solid with my eating program.
Failure: Only had about 80 oz. of water :o
stickn2it 02-03-06, 04:44 PM Worked out at the gym for 2 hrs....ON MY OFF DAY!!
Serenity 02-04-06, 01:20 AM Even though jumping on the scale this morning was a huge setback (I was 157 last week- I was *supposed* to be 155 this week, not 160!) I am not going to toss my hard work to the wind and eat a bunch of the delicious donuts my co-worker brought in.
No matter how tasty they look. :help:
Joan Mack 02-04-06, 05:00 PM Hi, am exercising and enjoying it, again 45 minute walk today and 45 minutes in the pool. Don't think I'm eating too much so the pounds should come off.:)
lovemyjeep 02-05-06, 12:52 PM The plan for today is taebo and a walk maybe. Also I have a TON of housework to do *sigh* I can include that too right ? LOL:laugh:
Joan Mack 02-05-06, 05:31 PM Hi everybody, today I swam for 45 minutes and it was good. I noticed there may be a place to walk near the pool. This would be good as I could go to one place and get everything done at once. So, I'm going to try to see if I like it.:)
mrdewey 02-06-06, 11:51 AM I just did it! A co-worker brought in donuts for everyone today and I didn't take one. I had a cup of herbal tea and had just as much fun on my break and walked away very pleased. What a great feeling. Thanks for the question!
Peepers 02-06-06, 12:22 PM WTG, everyone!!!
I got on the scale this morning and found out that I'd finally reached my January 31 goal! I'm a little late, but at least I finally made it!
:dn :dn :dn
SpiritLed 02-06-06, 12:27 PM 3 miles Leslie Sansone
Joan Mack 02-06-06, 05:18 PM Did a 45 minute walk at the mall and 45 minute swim today. Also had my lab work done which meant I had to go to the lab (about 40 minutes drive from my house), without anything to eat or drink this morning. Hooray for me :)
Joan Mack 02-07-06, 09:32 PM Here I am again, 30 minute walk today, plus volunteered for over 4 hours, plus did laundry and grocery shopping. I am woman, I am invincible! :)
good for you joan ... way to go!
i lost 4.5 lbs when finishing my period WOOHHOOOO
Joan Mack 02-08-06, 08:21 PM Congratulations everybody. Walked 30 minutes and swam for 60 minutes. Feel really good and glowing after my swim. :) Hope to keep it up through the year.
Tonight I took the kids swimming, and instead of sitting in the hottub, I joined the agua-fit class. Last time I went I only managed 10 minutes ... tonight I did 30 minutes of the 45 min class!
GotFruit? 02-09-06, 03:44 PM Well, Mon. my workout was mediocre... with only 1 hr. taking off 700 calories. I HAD intended to go back in the afternoon & do another hour (THEN I would have felt proud) but hubby suddenly took off early, so I had to skip it :( . Yesterday, however... I DID make myself really proud. I did 3 sets of 50 minutes on the ellipitical burning a total of 1800 calories AND I did 2 sets of using the dumbbells to work those angel wings of mine (some folks call them bat wings, but I choose to envision myself as something more lovely than a bat! LOL). BOY, am I in a world of hurt this morning (shoulders, neck arms) but nonetheless, PROUD, heheheh
Everyone's doing so well... keep up all your excellent efforts and like the one guy's shirt on Biggest Loser last night said... NEVER GIVE UP! :D
Joan Mack 02-09-06, 09:20 PM I did not exercise today but I won again at scrabble. Undefeated in 2007!
stickn2it 02-09-06, 09:21 PM I went to the gym and had a real good workout!!:lift:
I can relate to the soreness ... yesterday I went to an aquafit class, and managed 30 of the 45 min ... today I did all 45 minutes, but man am I sore ... especially my quads! Walking like a bow-legged cowboy who lost his horse.
lovemyjeep 02-10-06, 10:09 AM I did pilates this morning and 10 mins of tae bo. I am soo proud!
stickn2it 02-10-06, 04:18 PM I went out to eat with co-workers for lunch, and ate very responsibly. I am so proud of myself for not falling for the peer pressure to join everyone else with fried shrimp, fried fish, and french fries. Instead, I had grilled chicken with veggies, salad, and potato with fixings on side so I could portionately add what I wanted.
Joan Mack 02-10-06, 05:55 PM I got a note from my doctor's office. My cholesterol is 198 and is lower than the 200 normal range. I also did good in the "good cholesterol" category. I got 55 when anything over 45 is considered good. So I am happy and proud.:D
GotFruit? 02-11-06, 05:03 PM Way to go, stickNtoIt!!! That's exactly how I handle things like that and look where its gotten me!! (went from 365 to 228 in the time span of June 8, 2005 - Feb.10th, 2006 - only EIGHT MONTHS) :D
Well, yesterday I did an hour on the ellipitical and burned 800 calories. Then I went to grocery store & got my lunch, a small banana, an orange and a 60 calorie Light N Fit by Dannon yogurt. Ate the yogurt & banana while getting a pedicure. Then after my manicure, ate my orange before going BACK to 24 Hr. Fitness for another hour on the ellipitcal. Since I had a lot of water and my orange in tummy, went slower and only lost another 600 calories... so a total that day of 1400 calories burned. BUT, also... I DID start using some of the weight training machines for the first time. I'm happy about that! Dinner was salad bar at Sizzler plus I had ordered carne asada wrap. I didn't know it came with fries... ate only 4 of those. But when I bit into the wrap... it was SOooo delish, meat so flavorful & tender... that the warning sirens with flashing lights and whistles went off in my head. I allowed myself only 1 more bite after that and made hubby finish the entire wrap. (the fries sat there, discarded... poor things, LOL).
I'm telling you, it was SOooo hard to "just step away from the wrap, Ma'am" ... but surprisingly, I did it! hehehe  We then went to Safeway and bought $14 worth of fruits and more low cal. yogurt before going home. I've rededicated myself to getting back to eating small portions every 3 hrs. as I had been doing when losing 4 lbs. a week. I had felt so bad for a few days for going longgggggggggg time between meals but then having higher calories in one bigger meal. I'm sure that was a major factor in me losing only 2 lbs. this week. X-( Ah well! My committment to myself is back in force and I'm excited about this coming week! whoo hoo! :D
emily445455 02-11-06, 05:42 PM My blood pressure was high in December, so about a wk ago I went to get it checked again.
It was at a normal range, I attribute it to dieting. yay!! I'm becoming healthy!!
Joan Mack 02-12-06, 02:28 PM I swam for 45 minutes yesterday. I won again at scrabble too (undefeated for the entire year of 2006, thus far!). Today it is snowing out so I have to force myself to iron some clothes:( Not my favorite thing.
Joan Mack 02-13-06, 08:13 PM I swam for 1 hour today. Heard it might get warm later this week which would be nice for me to go to the park and walk. Tomorrow I hope to go to the mall and walk for 1 1/2 hours. That's a lot but I can try!
GotFruit? 02-14-06, 04:42 AM More vigorous workout my first hour on the ellipitical this morning... burned off 850 calories. Had a very small banana and 1/2 orange while on the run doing errands around town via either bus or legs :) Then took bus over to hubby's work and had a turkey wrap. Back to the 24 Hr Fitness, did another hour on the ellipitical, but slower... only burning 650 calories, bringing my total to 1500 calories. Had a nice, yet 'in control' dinner. Now I'm TIRED! lol :) but PROUD :D
Joan Mack 02-14-06, 07:05 PM I walked outside (my docs prefer it for my asthma) for one hour. There was lots of yummy chocolate at the volunteer job and I did succomb...but not too bad. I have been a lot worse!
emily445455 02-14-06, 08:24 PM Well, last night I did 20 minutes on the bike (burning 156 kcal!!!!) and did 60 crunches (20 straight, and 20 on each side of my stomach).
It burned like crap...but it was so worth it!!
I lost another pound since last Thursday.
emily445455 02-15-06, 12:07 AM Nice Job, Colter!!! :)
GotFruit? 02-15-06, 03:35 AM Got in an additional one hour ellipitical workout to burn 700 calories in this morning. Then early evening, got in a 3/4 mile walk in the rain (love my new big umbrella)... what fun! :D Eating was good, water consumption wasn't bad (room for improvement).
Happy Valentine's Day!
Diet Right 02-15-06, 04:34 PM I am new here and tomorrow will be my actual first start day, so I'm in preparation mode. I've made a very "green" shopping list and have deleted the video games from my computer. I am self employed and spend waaay too much time playing games and not moving!
emily445455 02-15-06, 04:41 PM :) good for you, diet right! Good start!!!
I had a perfectly good opportunity to buy some chocolate after lunch this afternoon, but I didn't and I didn't die! LOL.
And tonight I am going to do cardio for about 10 minutes and do about 30 crunches.
I'm proud of my grocery shopping today, I spent a lot of money but almost everything was fresh veggies, fruits and lean meat.
you all are doing fabulous!
Joan Mack 02-15-06, 07:56 PM Everybody is doing very well. I must confess to giving into a volunteer platter of cookies, cupcakes and muffins. I had one muffin and one cupcake. Will not have dinner which is not a problem as I am not hungry and hope to ameriolate the damage. I did 45 minute swim which was fun.
GotFruit? 02-16-06, 03:53 AM Had an extremely light breakfast w/coffee, then went off to 24 Hr. Fitness where I did 1 hr. on the ellipitical, burning 700 calories.
Then I was 'off' to run errands but got sidetracked when I ran into my calabash Auntie & her friend who "kidnapped" me off to WalMart  They REALLY had to twist my arm :D hehe NOT!
After shopping we had lunch, I ordered the mini plate of grilled ahi (yellowfin tuna) and instead of indulging in their VERY delish macaroni & beloved rice, I got them to give me tossed salad. :) Unfortunately I allowed myself to use the 100 calories of french dressing they gave me, on it :( *sigh*
Auntie & I shopped for a couple more hours, then headed back to our side of the island and the shopping center, where we met up with my hubby and we all went off to (oh noooooooo!) the chinese restaurant (some of the worst food for dieters). I ate small portions but it still was 'BAD', LOL So, if I don't do well this week when I weigh in, I'll know why! 8-| It wouldn't have mattered much at all if I had gotten back to the gym as planned for an additional hour on the ellipitical, but I never did make it there. WHAAAaaa! BAD SUNNY!!!
Tomorrow's almost here... and that's a new day to be better in every way :) I'll also make sure I drink way more water than I did today too!!
Joan Mack 02-17-06, 10:16 AM Hi...went to a friend's house for lunch and ate all the delicious food. I went last night for a one hour swim. We only have one hour open swim time or I would have stayed longer. Am reading for a class I'll start soon on famous short story masterpieces. So that's good too...food for the mind. Best wishes to all.
Something to make me feel proud....Iam changing my attitude gradually for the better into losing weight.
Joan Mack 02-18-06, 08:32 PM I swam for 45 minutes at the pool. It was very cold and I was chilled and took a long nap. We had a church breakfast earlier and it has filled me up for the entire day, so I have not eaten much.
Joan Mack 02-19-06, 07:18 PM Another 45 minute swim today. I am feeling good. Congratulatons to all who are working towards their goals.
stickn2it 02-19-06, 08:51 PM I had been kinda bummed because my weight had been stumped for about a week or so now. Today I weighed and am down another 2.5 pds. I am so excited and motivated even more. I GOT TO MOVE MY TICKER...finally after over a week.
Pipermac 02-20-06, 10:19 AM I pigged out on Cookies this past weekend!!!!!!!!! and I dont feel Bad About and it doesnt get me down!
I am proud because I know I can do this every now and then but I can still be healthy and still lose weight Without depriving my self of the joy of Cookies!!!
:)
stickn2it 02-20-06, 10:58 PM I burned 970 calories today. Worked out twice today and usually only do it once.
GotFruit? 02-23-06, 02:07 PM Yesterday, I started the day with a fantastic 1 hr. on the ellipitical, burning 800 calories. Later in the afternoon I rode my bike for the first time. Rode down to the bank, then through a housing area where I stopped to say 'hi' to 2 friends and ended up over at the 24 Hr. Fitness. Went in, did another half hour on the ellipitical (only burned an additional 400 calories, but figured the bike riding made up for me going easy on myself, LOL). Then picked up dinner... a turkey sub at Subway before going home. It was a great day! :) but now my shoulder/neck/back feels sore from the stress of trying to carry that darn bike back UP the stairs to my apartment, (gee, it went down the steps easy enough!)
Currently I'm still laying in bed, waiting for hubby to have his shower. After we have coffee/breakfast here, we're taking buses into the military base to pick up refills on his diabetes meds and also grocery shop. Dragging heavy bags home on 2 or 3 buses will be MY exercise for the day!
Joan Mack 02-24-06, 12:36 PM I have not been contributing to this thread as I did in the past. I came down with a sinus infection and feel too tired to exercise. Hope to feel better soon. I am taking antibiotics. Today I washed my car by hand. It is so cold that the water starting icing up on the car. Also cleaned bathroom and kitchen. Hope to do more as I might have company next week. Soon I will get my kitchen and bathroom floors redone by the apartment management. So that will be a lot of confusion, am sure. Lots of volunteer stuff coming up too...got lots on my calendar.
Joan Mack 02-25-06, 10:10 AM I did walk for 75 minutes yesterday. We had our New York in Bloom show yesterday where gardens clubs come in and decorate the museum. It was great. Today am headed to the pool. Hope it is open as it is snowing now.
:rose: yesterday i completed my 300th work out at curves. today the thing that will make me feel proud is finishing all the tasks i start out to do. that is going very well so far. i have done the grocery shopping, four loads of wash, and dusted the down stairs. :spring:
GotFruit? 02-28-06, 05:58 PM I had a HUGE day yesterday... made me proud enough to cover yesterday and today, LOL :D
Early in a.m. did the ellipitical, burning only 250 calories before deciding to jump off and join the class going on downstairs in the dance room. Didn't realize, but they had been in session for awhile when I joined. I've never gone to any of their classes yet. Just jumped in, in a little spot in the corner where I could try to stay out of the 'space' of the lady who was there... and did my best to keep up. It was one of those aerobic classes that they incorporate step thingies as well as light dumbbells. (I had neither). STILL, it got my heart rate UP and stretched out my hamstrings that desperately needed loosening up.
Then I ran back up, grabbed another ellipitical & did another 45 mins, burning another 500 calories (total by this time was 750 cals). Then I dabbled with some of the weight training machines that I seldom approach. PLUS, I even did crunches on 2 of the ab machines! whoo hoo!!!
Next, I took a break and went to get a nail repaired that had broken the night before. Had 16 oz. of water, 1/2 c. grapes and 1/2 banana while at the nail place. Then had a turkey subway 6 inch. Then shopped at Ross' and found that I fit into a cute pair of SIZE 16 capris (soft, light grass green denim) YAY :D
Then it was back to the gym. I did another 40 mins. or so, burning off another 550 calories, giving me a total of the day of 1300 calories burned. (not counting whatever I burned off at the aerobics class & during the weight training). Enjoyed a luxurious soak in the jacuzzi.... ahhhh :) It was finally time to grab a few groceries & head home. Dinner was a huge pile of steamed veggies, about 1/4 c. brown rice, the remainder of my grilled yellowfin tuna from a couple days ago... and 3 bites of chicken breast off my hubby's 1/2 roasted chicken. Dessert/evening snacks were canteloupe, grapes (just a few), 1/2 orange. I had about 120 oz. of water over the day.
I feel EXCELLENT today!
:rose: i got everything i set out to do at work today done. :spring:
I passed up a punschke on Fat Tuesday! OFfered it to me 2x also!
Joan Mack 02-28-06, 08:58 PM Hi, I completed 1005 minutes of exercise during February. I am going to use that as a base and hope to improve during the spring months. My friend hurt her leg so I took her to the drugstore, bank and grocery store today. I made sure to help her get her stuff and waited on line and carried all the groceries for her. So I am proud to have helped a friend!
stickn2it 03-12-06, 08:56 PM I usually use Sunday as an excuse to rest from working out, but ended up watching television and walking on the TM for 60 min and burning a little over 400 calories. I also was able to kick it up to my fastest pace ever...a huge accomplishment for me...no incline, but I'm going to get there one day.
%%-got everything i set out to do today done. :stpatty:
LB_SpecV 03-18-06, 12:06 AM Everyday I try to do one good deed, whether it be picking up and throwing out a piece of garbage someone left on the ground or helping someone in need wheatever it may be.
%%-yesterday i finished typing up the recipes that i'm submitting for the cookbook that the old navy stores in my district will be selling in october. i also printed them out yesterday. i turned them into today. :stpatty:
stickn2it 03-19-06, 01:55 PM I wore a Salmon colored suit...that I love...to church this morning and it felt great and was looser that when I actually bought it years ago. I haven't been able to zip that suit comfortably in over 7 months.
Its always a great feeling when favorite clothes fit better ... way to go Kelly!
emily445455 03-19-06, 04:53 PM I started a prayer journal and already have a page filled out. :)
lisad00 03-20-06, 01:48 PM To day I cleaned up my e-mail and applied for a new job.
lovemyjeep 03-20-06, 02:08 PM Today I have eaten healthy, not gotten into the kids yummies and going to excersize. I feel proud today. I had fallen off the wagon and I'm back on and feeling great about it!!!!!!!
Joan Mack 03-20-06, 09:22 PM I did all the work in getting new linoleum put down in bathroom and kitchen. Now I can dance on the results! Also hope to have over 1005 minutes of exercise for March...that 1005 was my total for February. Today I swam and yesterday I went to the mall to walk. Am feeling better because of the exercise.
:easter: i ate healthy yesterday and rested. wasn't well yesterday so decided that rest instead of exercise was the best thing for me. :hbunny:
LindyGirl 03-21-06, 09:22 PM I ran the longest I've ever run without stopping: 10 kilometers. THat's about 6.2 miles. I'm very proud (and very sore:D )
lisad00 03-23-06, 01:29 AM I quit the gym today without crying or getting agitated.
:easter: you made the decision that you thought was best for you. i'm going to curves as soon as i'm done checking my e-mail. :hbunny:
Pipermac 03-23-06, 11:18 AM I ran the longest I've ever run without stopping: 10 kilometers. THat's about 6.2 miles. I'm very proud (and very sore:D )
NICE! I havent gone that much yet! I have gone 8k. first 5k without walking, th elast 3 k had a few short walking breaks. that was a few weeks ago...this Weekend I want to Go for a LONG run and see how far I can go right now.
I think I may be able to do 10 k if I keep my pace slow.
what was your time for the 10k? I think If I am able to do 10k right know it would probably have to be at a pace of about 4.5 - 5mph. or about 75 minutes for 10 k.
My daughter and I stopped at some traffic lights, and a young couple in an old beaten-up van sang out and asked us for directions to a government angency. My daughter told them to follow us, and we lead them to the government agency.
A young man, young woman with baby climbed from the van and walked over to our car to thank us.. they told us they were the victims of the cyclone north of us, and had lost everything. They were hoping the government agency would be able to help them. After they walked away, my daughter and I agreed to give them some money. So my daughter ran after them and gave them the money, and the woman gave my daughter a hug.
I did have some misgivings about the young couple's story, but sure as heck they did seem genuine.
emily445455 03-24-06, 10:15 AM Today, I made the Easter Challenge!! :hop:
Yesterday, I worked out at my school gym for the first time!! It was nerve-wracking..but really fun!! :mus:
:)
:easter: i've decided to go through some of my clothes and give them to the local thrift shop. i'll feel proud when i do that. :hbunny:
Joan Mack 03-24-06, 08:15 PM Melrosa...may good things happen to you for your generosity and concern for others.
I am proud I walked over an hour today but my feet are burning. Pretty soon I will total up March's exercise minutes.
:easter: i also went for a walk before i started work this morning. :hbunny:
stickn2it 03-24-06, 09:03 PM I worked out for a little over 90 minutes...burned awesome calories.
DukeGrl08 03-26-06, 08:09 PM Hello everyone :)
Hmm...lets see. Nothing spectacular happened today, but yesterday was pretty good.
It was initiation for my sorority, and afterwards there was a reception with lots of cake and cookies. Of course it all looked delicious, but I was able to resist the temptation and just had some fruit when I got back to my dorm. Then I went to the gym and worked out for almost an hour. I felt really good by the time the day was over.
:easter: got some of the projects i wanted to do done today. :hbunny:
stickn2it 04-06-06, 10:30 PM I bypassed picking up fast food while out shopping around today. I was hungry, but close to being home so I waited and made something healthy when I got to the house. It would have been so much easier just to pull through a drive thru, but I didn't. HOORAY FOR ME!!
:easter: good for you for passing up the fast food! i brought a salad home for supper tonight. :hbunny:
stickn2it 04-07-06, 12:16 AM Kudos for you too, Ciecie!!
GotFruit? 04-07-06, 02:46 AM Yesterday I had an AMAZING day of physical exhertion, which began by my exercise at 24 Hr. Fitness, went on to dragging a 50 lb. bag (dog food, cat food & people food) up and down bus stairs until I got it home... then up a flight of stairs to my apartment. Followed by dragging a huge duffle bag with about 25 lbs. of clothes down to the laundrymat to wash, then dragging it home.
BUT, the one thing that made me most proud... At the drug store, they had the new 'bar style' pop tarts on sale... and after debating with myself... I WALKED AWAY WITHOUT A BOX IN MY HAND! whoo hoo!!! (man, it was tough though!) :D
Today I made bake tofu as per Fagan's instruction and it was YUMMY!
Gwenzilla 04-07-06, 01:47 PM I'm proud that I have returned to keeping my journal, and started getting serious again about dieting after a long period of backtracking.
Oh yeah that and the fact I woke up this morning and stayed on plan - so far at least :D
:easter: i can now fit into a pair of dress slacks that i haven't been able to wear since before christmas. when i lose 5 more pounds, the slacks will fit much better. :hbunny:
stickn2it 04-07-06, 10:17 PM I went to the grocery store and bought exactly what I needed...NOTHING MORE...that is huge for me.
:easter: i may do something that will make me feel proud tomorrow. i may get a bookcase for my room. :hbunny:
I went on a hike today around a mountain lake on this great crisp spring day. It helps if you live in the mountains:) In the winter, no one likes to leave home, but we all emerge from our dens come springtime.
stickn2it 04-10-06, 09:27 PM I woke up this morning feeling awesome and not sluggish as usual. I got up 30 minutes earlier than usual and didn't hit the snooze. I made some pretty good decisions in how I am going to live my life.
Jasmin71 04-10-06, 10:33 PM did 3,10 miles in 50 minutes for the first time !!!!!!
iam so exitet :)
:easter: got weighed and measured at curves today. lost 3.5 pounds and .20% in body fat. everything else was the same. also went for a power walk this afternoon. :hbunny:
way to go ciecie, jasmin71, kelly, crisco, and gwenzilla.
I bought some easter creme eggs for the kids, a reward if they got their rooms clean today ... and although I was tempted all afternoon/evening while they sat on the table awaiting the inspection of finished rooms ... I did not give in to them.
I have been dreading Easter Candy! I have one child to buy for, and I have been thinking of getting a premade basket for her, or just buying individual treats. If I can resist the Whoppers (malted milk balls) then I will be very proud of myself. I am not going to shop until Friday.
danze68 04-11-06, 02:27 PM I signed up my whole family at the local gym. This way we can all go together and work out each evening. We've been looking for a way to have more family time and to motivate myself especially and my son and thought this would be great. My husband and daughter are already physically active but are excited about working out with us and supporting us.
ellymae 04-11-06, 03:03 PM I have been exercising at least 3 times a week and making myself proud. Today I did almost 30 mins. to Richard Simmons Disco Sweat video. Was only able to do 20 mins. when I first did it, so proud of myself that I can do a little more now.
:easter: went for a power walk during my lunch break from work today. my work was all caught up before noon so i was able to get two or three chapters read in a book i've been reading. :hbunny:
ellymae 04-12-06, 06:31 PM Today I did 6.5 miles on my exercise bike at various speeds and tensions, and did one tension that I could barely pedal, but I was able to do that a little longer than I thought I could, so got a real good workout on the exercise bike today.
:easter: in addition to going to curves tomorrow, i'll go for a power walk. :hbunny:
I avoided a second serving of taco salad, I walked to the grocery store instead of drove, I avoided diet coke(even though it was calling my name), LOL.
:easter: i have to agree with you nancy. one serving of taco salad is enough for me, too. :hbunny:
Joan Mack 04-13-06, 08:05 PM I completed 1,200 minutes of exercise for March and hope to do the same this month. I am going to the Bronx Zoo one day and another day to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. See...you really can have fun without eating.
stickn2it 04-13-06, 10:17 PM Went to the gym today: 60 minutes on Eliptical Machine, 10 minutes walking on TM @ 3.5 and 15 minutes running on TM @ 4.1!!!
:easter: went to curves this morning. went to church tonight. :hbunny:
emily445455 04-19-06, 05:41 PM I went to class today, even though I REALLY didn't feel like it!!!
:spring: i did a good job cleaning at work today. :flower:
danze68 04-21-06, 12:20 AM We started to golf as a family. We are all going to learn together. I am happy about this because it's something we can all do together and it's good for us.
Michelle
prettyfat 04-21-06, 02:33 AM I've been reading the boards to get ideas on what the best way to loose weight is.. not that big of a deal but I am trying.
:spring: i bought a baby gift for my brother and darling sister-in-law today. :flower:
LindyGirl 04-21-06, 09:27 PM I was depressed this morning. But I didnt' give in to it. I called my mom because she always makes me feel better. Then I told myself that even though I didn't want to go running, "Action comes first, motivation second." I ran two miles and now I feel so much better. I am learning every day to recognize the signs of depression (which lead to over-eating) and confront them head-on.
stickn2it 04-23-06, 12:13 AM I worked out tonight...and for a Saturday that generally does not happen. Also, I had lunch with a friend and ate off of the guiltless menu at Chili's. I also tried something I've heard others say, which was to already have in mind to only eat a portion at the restaurant and take the rest home. I tried that and it worked. I had the rest for dinner tonight.
nedgoudy 04-23-06, 12:22 AM I rode to an Earth Day Fair in
Pasadena California and did a
total of 40 miles round trip on
my recumbent bicycle today.
And I have stayed under 158 lbs
all year (SO FAR.)
:spring: welcome to the group ned! i went to curves this morning to work out. i shed a few tears when i saw the first pictures of my new little nephew, caleb andrew carlson, tonight. :flower:
I was feeling really moody and in a slump which is when I'm at my most vulnerable. But I managed to restrain myself from buying my favourite chocolate brownies at the supermarket. Walked right on by. It was so hard but I did it.
One day at a time. Or should I say one brownie at a time.
:spring: keep up the great work nessie and welcome to the group! :flower:
Hi, I'm new to the forum. I think this is a great thread.
I'm proud of the fact that I ate a low fat yoghurt for breakfast instead of the bacon sandwich that I really wanted to eat.
stickn2it 04-23-06, 06:21 PM I weighed this morning...as usual for a Sunday...and I am down 2 pds. I couldn't believe it. I have been struggling with my last 5.5 pds pounds over the last month. I have stuck around 180.5 for weeks and was beginning to get frustrated, but I stuck in there and put forth even more effort and have finally lost two pds...and can move my ticker...FINALLY!! Not a lot, but it means the world to me. I had been considered extending my goal once I reached 175, now this has given me the strength and confidence to do it.
:spring: congrats on losing 2 pounds! i went for an hour and fifteen minute power walk this afternoon. :flower:
stickn2it 04-24-06, 09:24 PM Way to go Ciecie...I made it to the gym and worked out for 75 minutes. I also passed up the doughnut holes in the lounge this morning at work.
:spring: i went to curves this morning and for an hour long power walk this afternoon. :flower:
AzureN1ght 04-24-06, 11:28 PM I successfully had my first new day of SBD and went to the gym bright and early this morning!
Arianne 04-24-06, 11:36 PM I got honest with myself and saw that the portion of meatloaf and mashed that I served myself was a mega serving, I removed some of both and put it on a saucer. When finished with my portion, I came back to kitchen and was extrememly tempted to eat the portion that I removed. I almost had it in my mouth when I made myself put plastic wrap on it and put it back in the fridge. It was a HUGE victory for me!!
Glad to see this thread. I'll be visiting it regularly.
AzureN1ght 04-26-06, 12:27 AM I went to the gym tonight, even though I really didn't want to.
RachelGoren 04-26-06, 01:56 PM I think this is a GREAT thread. I see so many people beating themselves up over what they haven't done right, what goal they haven't reached, etc. It's good to remind ourselves that we CAN resist temptation, we CAN have self-control, etc. Great posts to everyone! Three cheers:
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
:spring: welcome to the board rachel! :flower:
AzureN1ght 04-26-06, 10:59 PM I stuck to my plan today. Successful Day 3 of SBD and I went to my bellydance class and did that for an hour!
stickn2it 04-27-06, 08:44 PM Maintained a POSITIVE attitude at work today...even when I didn't want to.
:spring: i got some spring cleaning done. washed the bathroom's window curtains, shower curtain, and shower curtain liner. :flower:
AzureN1ght 04-28-06, 01:35 AM Day #4 of SBD was a resounding success, I exercised and I resisted birthday cake (one of my weaknesses)!
danze68 04-28-06, 11:33 AM I stuck to my plan today. Successful Day 3 of SBD and I went to my bellydance class and did that for an hour!
That sounds like a fun workout!

LindyGirl 04-28-06, 10:35 PM On Wednesday I really really did not want to be at the gym. And I especially did not want to run. But I did it anyway, and even ended up running more than i normally would have! Then I rewarded myself with a (much needed) rest day, so that my muscles could be happy again. And today, even though I didnt want to, I went running again and did a whole 5K! I'm really proud of sticking with my program.
stickn2it 04-28-06, 11:01 PM Bought groceries and cleaned my house.
RachelGoren 04-29-06, 11:21 AM LindyGirl, that is great! You should be very proud of making yourself go, even if the motivation wasn't there, and doing it twice! You're an inspiration!

:spring: i tried on some old clothes last night. guess what? they are too big!!!! i decided to throw some of them out since there was some thread bare on them. one pair that has no thread bare is going to a local thrift shop. i also tried on a pair of denim short. they are a bit lose. i'm going shopping later on this coming week to see if i can get another pair of denim shorts that i like as well as i do these. i also did some more spring cleaning today. i washed my bed spread, bed pad, pillow case covers and blankets today. i put the spread and mattress pad on the clothes line to dry. i put the pillow case covers and blankets in the dryer to dry. i also put some more of the decorator pillows in mom and dad's room in the dryer. i put them on the air cycle. :flower:
stickn2it 05-07-06, 02:50 PM Good work, Ciecie. You've been a busy little person. I also attempted to get some serious laundry done this weekend. More importantly, I officially met my weightloss goal...NOW THE REAL WORK BEGINS...the maintaining. I have learned so much this time around, and most importantly that this is/will be my new lifestyle. I will not go back to what I used to be. I am considering setting another weightloss goal for myself...I see some areas that still need quite a bit of improvement, and now that I know how to do it the right way, I am sure I can reach my next goal also.
:spring: i'm going to try to finish the spring cleaning this week. if i don't, i'll get it done next weekend for sure. :flower:

As for me...I got my tail back in gear. I had been lazy the last two days after work, but today I got back in the gym for around 2 hours.
Joan Mack 05-12-06, 08:07 PM This may be off topic but I am superwoman. I swallowed a camera (had an endoscopy) without having a sedative. They always said I had a big mouth and I guess that's right!
:spring: the thing that made me feel proud today was that remembered what street a classmate of my sister's lived on while his dad was principle at the school here. my sister is planning her 25 year class reunion. the information she sent tim came back as being undeliverable. i got to thinking that they lived on whallon street and that maybe some of the people that live there are still in contact with his mom. :flower:
Today I almost didn't work out because I just didn't feel like it, but I picked myself up and went to the gym for an hour. I know if I didn't go I would feel really crummy about it later, and I felt so good after working out.:D

LindyGirl 05-19-06, 02:43 PM I made the conscious decision NOT to allow myself to feel guilty for taking a day off of exercising to give my (aching) muscles a rest. Then I went to class, even though it's Friday and I really didn't want to.

peace4ull2u 05-26-06, 03:41 PM There is alot that is going on in my life right now and one of those things is my eating habits. I have developed an emotional eating disorder, and do not know how to stop. I have been out of work since jan.2006 among other things. my weight just makes it worst. when i was 160 pounds I felt great about myself and now my life is ugly and so is my body. I'm very suicidal and very depressed everyday. what have i done today to make me feel proud? I searched the web and found this site, to reach out for help...
energie 05-26-06, 05:10 PM -deciding I'm really gonna get my life in order(lose weight/take care of myself/getting myself together and planning for the future/looking and feeling the way I want and doing what I want)
-working out today at the gym and going for a walk if I feel like it
-sticking with my calorie range
ellymae 05-28-06, 05:42 AM I stuck to only eating stuff that is good for me and I finally got the bottom of my bedroom closet cleaned out , and donated half a pick up load of stuff to a benefit yard sale. Always feels good to help someone in need.
Ellen
stickn2it 05-28-06, 01:41 PM I GOT TO MOVE MY TICKER...down 1.5 pds.
LindyGirl 05-28-06, 06:25 PM I started on my English final, even though I could procrastinate for another week, and I went on a long run even though I was tired. And all before 2:30! I rock. Haha oh yeah and I'm pretty proud of the article I put together based on my TOPS presentation about how I've been losing my weight.
Joan Mack 05-28-06, 07:32 PM I have a bleeding ulcer and feel I should get my medical degree! I found out about the ppi's and other interesting facts about GERD (acid reflux disease).
I also wrote a nice poem for a friend. Hope she likes it! :)
stickn2it 05-28-06, 08:09 PM Just came from the gym, and I usually, hardly ever workout on a Sunday.
stickn2it 05-29-06, 05:14 PM I did exactly what I felt like doing...w/o any regards to what others thought.
LindyGirl 05-29-06, 06:27 PM Good Job! Disregarding others' judgements is so much harder than it sounds. Good for you doing what you want!
Joan Mack 05-30-06, 05:14 PM I had a great idea to send a poem every month to my friends on e-mail! I brought flowers to an ailing friend. I figured out why I have a bleeding ulcer.
Still can't fit into some tops...darn it!
ellymae 05-31-06, 06:51 AM Hi everyone.
Joan Mack you better go see about that bleeding ulcer, if you havent all ready. You need to take care of yourself.
Good luck getting in to the tops you want. Just keep your mind set to loose weight and get into them and you will.
I was proud of myself yesterday for doing good on my eating . I didnt overeat, and ate plenty of fruit and veggies.
Today I am proud of myself for getting my everyday housework out of the way, a load of laundry in washing, and taking my blood sugar ( sometimes I forget ), and its only 5:51 am. Not to shabby ha?
Ellen
Joan Mack 05-31-06, 01:33 PM Gee whiz ellymae, you're like a house on fire or as they say, you're cooking with kerosene now. I found out about the ulcer a while back from an endoscopy I took without a sedative. Can't ya tell I was born in Brooklyn!
Anywho...I got my air conditioning system in today with the help of a neighbor, met a new friend and did my wash. I have to rest a lot cuz I'm tired, it's 12:30 p.m.
nedgoudy 05-31-06, 10:42 PM I rode 30 miles on my bike
today in 95 degree temperature
for the second day in a row!
Riding a bike validates me somehow
and keeps me trim and fit so I can
eat what I want within my personal
defined limits and not feel guilty or
gain a pound.
Bicycling is a great LOW IMPACT
aerobic exercise good for us fatties
and ex fatties so we don't blow out
our knees and our shins running or
walking. I highly recommend it.
stickn2it 06-02-06, 09:55 AM Treated my co-workers to breakfast this morning.
