Here is a link that tells us off the dangers of not eating enough.

http://dietsnutrition.allinfoabout.com/features/verylowcalorie.html

Here are some highlights:

Your body uses blood sugar, made from carbohydrates, for fuel just as a car uses gas (petrol). Without blood sugar, the brain and central nervous system, as well as other bodily systems, will cease to work efficiently.
Losing lean body tissue can be very dangerous. Even organs can be broken down to use as fuel.
A lack of serotonin in the brain can be another problem which leads to clinical depression.
You might find that the lack of essential nutrients on a very low calorie diet leads to a deterioration in the condition of your hair and nails.
There are more.

........Nancy,

An outline of sensible, low calorie diet limits is at one of the links provided by your post's link, and suggests dieting at 1500-1800 calories/day for sedentary women, and 2000-2200 calories/day for sedentary men.

Use an activity calorie counter (such as at free calorie counter (http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html), to refine these very rough estimates further if you're not of 'average' build, or, are active (more active people should add calories/day to these figures).

That is good info for anyone who is feeling guilty about eating. I used to feel so guilty everytime I took a bite of anything. Then I learned if you eat you lose. I was not losing much weight and I was always so tired and weak.
Now I have energy and I am losing weight more than I did when I wouldnt eat much at all.

R-d, not sure why you pointed this out to me, but I use fitday.com.

Nancy: I think r-D's post is self explanatory..just saying to get a more accurate amount of calories needed per day use free calorie counter and in your case as you use Fitday..but r-D did not know that I would assume this is the reason for his post..:)
