View Full Version : OA info? sassy252 03-24-06, 11:55 AM I am going to try OA monday. Anyone know anything about it? I saw you had a thread but it says closed. Thank you emily445455 03-24-06, 01:53 PM I went a few times, but it's not for me. It's for people who can't control their eating, like AA is for people who can't control their drinking. It's for people with eating problems. Not just people trying to diet. That's really all I gathered from when I went. :) Mel 03-24-06, 03:47 PM Well, aren't people overweight because they can't control their eating??? emily445455 03-24-06, 04:00 PM There is a difference between being lazy, not wanting to eat healthy or workout...and compulsive and excessive bingeing eating. Mel 03-25-06, 12:08 AM I know a lot of people who go to OE and they're dieting. And not just because they binge, but because they just have a hard time sticking to a diet. They got to OE just like people go to TOPS. Only I think at OE they tend to delve more into the reasons you eat too much. I don't think it's just for major eating disorders. Sassy, if you're thinking of trying it, see what you think. If it's not for you, then maybe try something else. It might be just what you're looking for. Then again, maybe not, lol. emily445455 03-25-06, 12:11 AM Yeah I'd just say try it out. That's what I did and found out it wasn't for me...but it may help you...can't know til you try. :) sassy252 03-28-06, 10:23 PM I went and I guess they are no longer in this area. I am not lazy ,I am DISABLED. I do what I can to get exercise and I do overeat. I have been disabled for several years. and they wt is just hanging in there. and I am married to an alcoholic. So I have stresses. and yes I know excuses are like rearends we all have them and they all stink. I can't seem to get control over it so I wanted some support which I have not been able to find on the net. I was doing ediets and I need to sit in a real room with real people sorry it just wasn't enough. emily445455 03-29-06, 12:08 AM Perhaps Weight Watchers then? They have physical meetings where you can go sit with a group of people...just a though... Hope you find what works for and helps you. :) |
