I just finished reading the book Tales From the Scale: Women Weigh in on Thunder Thighs, Cheese Fries and Feeling Good...at Any Size. by Erin J. Shea

As a woman who has been overweight since the age of 9, this book helped me realize that I'm not crazy for some of the mental traffic I have. The book is a series of entries done by seven women who have all lost weight--chronicling thier struggles with weight since childhood. It's a short book--259 pages, and it's set up almost like a blog (an entry by each woman for each chapter).

The Chapters are titled Thus:

1 The Twinkie Defense or "How We Got This Fat"
2 This One Time? At Fat Camp?
3 The Fat Girl
4 The Tenth Circle of Hell: Weigh-In Day
5 I've Always Liked Big Girls: Sex and the Fat Woman
6 Fatty Clothes: For When You've Given Up
7 When Aunt Flo Attacks and Other Battles in Operation Fat Loss
8. Now What? Life After Weight Loss

It's a book full of humor--bitersweet humor that I believe only a "Fat Girl" or "Former Fat Girl" would be able to appreciate. The mental traffic, the depression, the lonliness, the self-loathing...things that I know I've experienced throughout my life.

Anyway, I'm going to get off my Soapbox--I just wanted you all to know that this amazing book exists.

That sounds really good ... thanks so much for posting about it. I'll definitely see if I can get a copy! I love getting book recommendations (do you think my name gives that away??).
