I'm new to the site & the whole dieting thing, just wondering if any of those diet pills (Hydroxycut, Trimspa, etc.) actually do anything to help???

I have tried several, and found all a waste of money. All they did was give me a buzz like I had chuggaluged about 6 cups of coffee at once ... not a pleasant feeling: all jittery and upset stomach. The ones that have appetite control have the draw back, at least for me, that when the pill wore off, I was ravenous, and ate more than I would have if I had eaten normally through the day.

Geez, that's a good enough reason not to even try them. I need the "magic" pill that doesn't exist! LOL

They do help some people but because alot of them have ephedra like substances in them they may be a little risky.

I tried the green tea diet pills and I was having heart strain on the first day so I threw them out. I am not going to try pills anymore.

has anybody tried Hoodia Gordonii? it's in the diet pills they sell you at quick weight loss center. i had a consultation yesterday and the program is very expensive let alone what they charge for the supplements.

I have been taking Hydroxycut and I have lost 16pds in 5 weeks. Not as much as they "swear" you will lose but it is 100% the reason I am able to control my eating / apitite. Days I skip a pill, I eat way to much. Plus it gave me the energy that I need. There was NO side effects for me with this one. NONE! But I had tried TRIMSPA! Avoid this one like. I felt like I was going to ...die! The side effects were so strong, more then the jitters but dizzyness, funny feeling in my heart, a weight on my chest.. Horrible!

I use and love HYDROXYCUT- But pills aren't for everyone and it's best to check with your doctor. Plus there is no "Magic" pill, I still walk 7-10 miles a day and eat 800-1200 calories.. so even with the pills dieting still takes ALLOT of work! Argh:D

I've tried at least 1/2 the diet pills on the market. Release, Trimspa, Hydroxicut, Metabolife, and a bunch more. I've even tried prescription Phentermine. Honestly, I've done better dieting without any pills. Some diet pills will have terrible side effects. They can make you agitated :caf: and then when it wears off you totally crash. I was like a different person with some of the pills. Some gave me cottonmouth and insomnia. It's hard to sleep when you're on diet pills. I won't spend any money on them anymore. I've tried enough to know that they won't work for me.

What has worked best diet-wise for me is exercise and counting calories. And I've gotten some of the best exercise doing house work and yard work! I just turn on the stereo and go to town! :dn

Lots of luck to you and be careful if you do decide to try out a diet supplement!

The only things that I have ever taken that make a slight difference and don't have too serious side effects for me are:

Co-enzyme Q-10
B complex vitamins
Chromium complex
Omega 3 fatty acids (to replace some fat on super low-fat diet only, really)

Like I said, the positive effects of these are minimal or actually questionable for how many extra pounds they make you lose. They all do nothing more than make you feel a little bit better while you lose the same amount of weight eating the same food portions (feel a little better with suppliments, is all - which can make all the difference sometimes). That's it. Everything else is either smoke and mirrors, acts like an amphetamine and kind of dangerous and/or short term, or has some other pretty serious side effects that I'm not willing to live with.

Be careful.

Like Cfj said: "Smoke and mirrors."

Save your money and buy some walking shoes, a pair of dumbbells and a calorie counting book.

I love how the small print says "included in a diet and exercise plan". Like you couldn't do the same thing without the pills...

Diet Pills do different things to different people.
At the beginning of my journey I used Dexatrim Natural Green Tea formula just to curb my appetite for the first week so that I could get a head start. It really helped me a lot.

But other people take them and either feel no effect or too much effect (as Lisa did).

The best advice I can give is to ask your doctor. If you are not in good health, do not take them. And if you do take them, monitor your health.

If nothing else, try buying One A Day Weight Smart. They are vitamins with green tea in them. They help boost your energy and curb appetite a little bit. And you get the added benefit of the vitamins.

The Only thing I would reccomend is something that suppresses Appetite. This is the only thing you can take and truly judge if it works or not. you can tell if your appetite is curbed or not. Everything else.....How could you ever know if it works or not? How do you know that you wouldnt have had the exact same Success without it? Any of these pils if they do work...only will make a small difference. 90% of the success will come from your diet and exercise...the other 10% if you are klucky will have come from the pills....but then again...how do you know??
