My diet counselor gave this bit of information to me and I thought I would pass it on. She indicated to me that when a person overeats on any given day, it will take about 3-4 days to show up on the scale.

Hi Tess!
I am surprised by this information because I usually see the bad results the next day, especially if there was extra salt or sugar. :-/
I guess everyone is different...

Even if you Overeat...most of the time you will NOT see it on the Scale...unless you have one that measures in ounces.

The Reason why Many people will see a Gain in weight the next day after eating a lot the day before is not due to fat. it is due to water. In Particular Glycogen. When you are dieting your Glycogen Levels are usually on the Low side rather then on the High side. you Body on average can hold 500g of Glycogen. each gram of Glycogen holds 3 grams of Water. When you Over Eat you will natually Fill your Glycogen. When Glycogen is full it can add 2kg (4.4lbs) of Weight. this is Why When someone on Atkins goes off and Eats a bunch of Carbs they Quickly Gain Weight. But it is not FAT. It is also why Peopl on Atkins Initially lose so much...they deplete their Glycogen.
