Hi Amanda,

I do have some suggestions ....

Make an OMELETTE using EGGWHITE .. you can put sliced fresh mushrooms or fat free Cheese (1 to 2 tablespoons) ..

Make an EGG MUFFIN SANDWICH using EGG SUBSTITUTE, FAT FREE ENGLISH MUFFIN, SLICE OF FAT FREE CHEDDAR (or SWISS) CHEESE, SLICE OF CANADIAN BACON (or FAT FREE HAM) ...

Waffles ... I can recommend VANS GOURMET WHOLE WHEAT WAFFLES or KASHI ORIGINAL WHOLE WAFFLES ...

1 cup of FRESH FRUIT (blackberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon) WITH AN 8 ounce container of YOGURT ...

French Toast -- using Whole Wheat Bread, Eggwhite, Vanilla Extract , Cinnamon -- and a Light Syrup

these are just a few ideas .. imho it's imperative that we have variety in our menus ... if we eat the same thing day in and day out we get BORED and instead of thinking of this as a change we think of it as a DRAG. I hope this helps have and make it a great day. Always, Monica

Hi Amanda :)
I LOVE breakfast - it gets me through the day! I go with (when I'm at home!) Oatmeal (1c), half a cup of nonfat milk, grapefruit, and some whey protein in the oatmeal. (I had a personal trainer set up my entire diet 'profile' awhile back.)
If I'm out and about, I found a few places that serve a really Yummy fruit salad (just fresh fruit. no sugar added), I get some fat free yogurt, and if I'm ravenous, some oatmeal :) I'm lucky enough to have a fridge at work, so if there is anything I run out of time to eat, I can nuke it on a break and use it for my snack! :)

Good luck with breakfast, I'm sure you'll come up with something :)

I usualy have a smaller breakfast on the run, this is my favorite so far: half a whole wheat bagel with a T of peanut butter and a 1/4 a banana on top.

It's very tastey, but doesn't keep me full more than 2 hours. Which is perfect for me, I love having my mid-morning snack..hehe :)

Amanda,

You can eat anything you want for breakfast. I seldom eat regular breakfast foods I would rather just have a sandwich, some leftovers, whatever.

I also eat almost anything for breakfast. Usually left-overs from dinner. If I'm in a time crunch, I just eat 6 ounces of no fat cottage cheese and a light piece of bread (45-50 calories), and the mandatory 32 oz of water with each meal on my plan.

Like others have suggested, I often have stuff like a 3 egg white omelet, one of those zone meal replacement bars, plain yogurt with fresh fruit and splenda in it, etc.

Eat what tastes good to you, is not too heavy or fatty, and that will not upset your stomach (some people have sensitive stomachs in the morning).

My favorite breakfast meal is oatmeal (not instant or processed),raisins & almond slices with 1/2 teasppon of cinnamon. the studies that have come out recently on how cinnamon or clove with reduce your cholesterol by quite a bit have impressed me to add even more to my oatmeal.

also i dont eat eggs, but if you want to add something else to that meal because you are still hungry try the morning star tofu sausages they are really tasty, just like pork breakfast sausages.

In the summer time when you can get fresh blueberries at a reasonable price, I love to have vanilla yogurt with some grape nuts cereal in it, and mix it all together with the blueberries or other fruits and berries of your choice. It is super yummy!

fried eggs don't have to be bad for you....I usually fry mine but I only have the whites and I use a non stick spray, most have no fat and around 5 calories. I usually put them on a slice of toast with low fat cheese. I also like to mix it up by scrambling with a tablespoon of salsa, or sometimes I use the egg replacers. If I don't get a decent amount of protein in I'm hungry an hour later so I usually have eggs or something with peanut butter or leftovers with some kind of meat (I'm such a "meat and potatoes" girl anyway:))

Amanda,

I can wholeheartedly recommend oatmeal as your main course for breakfast. Perhaps a banana, and certainly some juice. Be sure you eat enough to find it filling -- breakfast is one meal you don't want to skimp on. If you find breakfast boring, hire some entertainment to amuse yourself (or read, or listen to music, or (ugh!) watch TV), but don't compromise on food quality or quantity just to keep breakfast "interesting".

Please, take it easy on the eggs (and, I hope that's egg whites, not whole eggs). Too much protein is like too much fat, just "empty" calories. At least when you overeat your vegetables, you're getting some nutrition out of the process (fibers, vitamins, minerals, and an assortment of other useful incidentals that help our bodies work better) for the excess calories that are being converted into fat.

I make a big batch of fruit salad with all myfavourite fruits ahead of time that lasts about 2-3 days (not longer though because the fruit starts get all mushey). When it's there all ready for you to eat it's much easier.

Genie 456 that is such a great idea! I love fruit salad! But I would probally eat it all day. and my hubby you eat tonnes of it when he comes home from work! I guess I could make smaller batches so I dont pig out on it!

This morning I actully made myself a smoothie! My mom bought me a magic bullet and I found a recipe for a low fat smoothie. I used 2 frozen strawberries a chilled banana 1 cup of skim milk and a tsp of vanilla! its pretty lowfat and soooooooo good!

Some of my favorite breakfast recipes:

1. Protein smoothie-- I mix chocolate protein powder, milk, and sugar-free cappuccino mix in a blender-- right around 200 calories, but it's really pretty filling. I also like to mix the vanilla powder with milk and lite OJ-- tastes like an Orange Julius. I also have a lot of frozen fruit in my freezer, so I will just sort of play around with that, mixing it in the blender. Just be sure to get plain fruit, not the sugar-added stuff.

2. Grapefruit. I love grapefruit.

3. I have some oatmeal bars for on the go; they are no-sugar-added. I think Quaker makes them. If I'm running late, I can eat that at my desk once I get to work. If I'm really hungry, I'll have a small cup of yogurt, too.

Some of my favorites include:

* A wheat Bagel with Scrammed Eggs (no oil, only 1% milk) with a slice of low fat cheese
* Fruit Salad from Publix (Amazingly still good even in the winter)
* Oatmeal (The low Sugar stuff from Quaker)
* Lowfat Muffin
* Dry Blueberry or Cinnimon Raison Bagel
* Wheat English Muffin with very light Lowfat Butter scimmed over the top
* Sometimes Ceral, but not normally

I get easily board with food, so I have to switch things up on a regular basis or I won't eat something for years after I ate it all the time for a while.

And when you're busy.......

Usually when I'm on vacation and there's no yogurt or oatmeal to be found, here's some of the things I've found at fast food restaurants and other restaurants that aren't going to blow all your hard work.....

Mc Donalds --- fruit and yogurt parfait and orange juice
McDonalds --- Egg McMuffin without the cheese, ordered without butter or spread (they look at you like you're a big pain in the butt, but they will make it for you.
Denny's -- scrambled Egg beaters and dry toast (my staple) and a side of fruit
Mimi's Cafe- egg white omelet and dry toast --- The omelet is huge and its full of a ton of veggies and its only 200 calories!!!

IHOP - wheat and nut pancakes ordered without butter, with sugar free syrup, I'd skip on the fruit topping, its pretty sugary tasting

Here's some of the things I've found that are convienent for home --
Tofutti "cheese" filled blitzes -- 110 calories each, something like 4g of fat, they taste great served hot with a tbsp of low sugar jelly heated on top
Weight Watchers - they have a breakfast sandwich, its 200 calories and 5g of fat and ready in the microwave in 2 and a half min.
Eggo 99% fat free waffles, 60 cal, .5g fat each. -- Really good with some sugar free syrup or some sliced fruit on top
Trader Joe's lowfat french toast -- you just throw them in the toaster, sprinkle a little cinnamon and cut them in slices and dip them in a little sugar free maple syrup, really good and quick!

If you're going all out and cooking.....
aidell's chicken sausages taste great for breakfast, and most of them are something like 100 calories and 2.5g-6g of fat each if you're really missing sausage, I'll cut up half of one and put it in my egg beaters omelet!

Krusteaz Fat Free Cranberry Orange bread -- its a mix, but tastes pretty good

Egg Beater greek omelet -- mix some frozen or freshly steamed spinach into 1/2c egg beaters, then chop 1-2 pieces rinsed off marinated artichoke hearts and 1/4c diced red pepper, 1tbsp minced garlic, pan fry with pam until soft, and sprinkle with a little lowfat or nonfat feta cheese on top with some fresh tomato ....mmmmm

Krusteaz has a nonfat buttermilk and a lowfat whole grain pancake mix, tastes great with fresh sliced berries or sugar free maple syrup.

Get frozen uncooked hash browns, spray with pam, sprinkle with salt and pepper or ms. dash, cook in the oven, they don't taste nearly as good as they do fried but when I really really really miss them I'll make them, with a 1/3 cup of egg beaters and some fruit.

Hope that helps!

One of my favorites is chocolate Malt-o-Meal with about a tablespoon of peanut butter mixed in and a glass of milk. If this isn't enough calories for you, you can always make the Malt-o-Meal with milk or add some fruit (bananas and strawberries are good in it or on the side).

I also love the English muffin breakfast sandwiches, with Canadian bacon and lowfat cheese. I have heard of people using biscuit cutters sprayed with nonstick spray to shape the egg round so it fits perfectly.
