As I continue getting older I am learning a lot about how the real world works. Recently, my boyfriend and I purchased a home together and decided that it might be a good idea to get life insurance so that if something happens to one of us everything can be taken care of. Being as how if either one of us were to pass away neither of the other one of us could afford to pay all the bills. I am sure it works that way for most people.

Anyway, yesterday we had our first little meeting with the insurance agent and though I sorta thought this was coming, I was still a little surprised it happened. As we were talking I learned that because I was overweight that my policy was not preferred and that it would cost me about $6 more a month to be covered than if I was at a healthy weight.

Now I know that I am trying to loose weight and that as soon as I do I plan to get re-examined and can hopefully this will make my policy cheaper. Well I guess this give me another reason to push myself to loose weight, another goal. GET CHEAPER LIFE INSURANCE!!!

One of my mini goals is actually to lose enough weight to be considered within a healthy range for life insurance. I have about 10 pounds to go to get there. Keep in mind that once you lose enough you have to see the doc to confirm that you are at that weight, then keep it off for 6 month in order to get it lowered. At least that is what my company says. So in 10 more pounds I will go see the doc and 6 months after that my rates will drop. It will save us a bunch of money. Good luck.

I didn't know you had to stay at a certain weight for 6 months to get the rates lowered. I am sure that once I am low enough that I can do that, but that is news to me. I guess we did not get into that part.

Who do you have your insurance through, if you don't mind my asking?
