Okay ....now that I have been doing good with my eating plan, I decided to dig the rice cooker/vegetable steamer out of the basement......I totally forget how to use it.

There is the middle with the metal heating element, then the bottom outside ring..then the cups that sit on top.

Can anyone remind me, how to use it......do I put water around the outside, not where the heating element is, or do I put it where the heating element is.....man I feel dumb.

I know for rice, you have to also put water with the rice...any one have their instructions handy...that can tell me how much rice per water??

any help would be deeeeeeeeeply appreciated...lol

Thanks

Barb

DO NOT put water with the heating element!! (Water, electrical components......)
Anyway, so to use the cooker for either rice or veggies, water goes into the main bowl that sits on top of the heating element. Just use less for veggies, maybe fill it 1 1/2-2 inches or so and put the veggies in a steaming basket that sits on top, or is suspended in the water bowl (depending on how your machine works).
Turn it on..and from this point, knowing when it's done depends on your model, but you can also check it now and again.
And a good rule of thumb 1 1/2 to 2 cups water per cup rice (use 2 or a bit more if it's brown rice). IN THE BOWL--you mix the rice and water together.

thanks gettingdown...I appreciate the help. I dont' know if saying the heating element was right.....dont' want you to think I am daffy enough to pour water on a naked heating element. It is just a silver metal flat surface on the bottom......there is no basket to sit on top except for where you would put the rice or veggies. I tried it..but just putting the water in that base, figured it would either be right, or I would short it out and need to go buy a new one with directions..it worked....and sounded like I remember, so I guess that was right.......but I do appreciate that you took the time to try to help me.

How did you lose your weight so far, if you dont' mind me asking? I am struggling yet again. hoping to get back to where I was a week ago soon.....in the frame of mind..out of the frame of mind...but I did it to myself so I need to get back there too.
