JessicaL2005 02-21-07, 06:46 PM I did Nutrisystem for two months, I lost 5 pounds right away because the food isn't that good. After that I couldn't deal with how bad the food is and gained it all back. The portions are pretty small, and its basically low carb and high protein, lots of soy protein in everything, the chicken doesn't really taste like chicken, its kind of spongy tasting, the gravies, teriyaki sauces, pasta sauce all started to kind of taste the same, the stews and soups are all really thick and starchy and salty, I wouldn't do it again...If you try it out don't get the muffins, they are so horrible tasting, they taste bad bad bad... Don't get the orange beef, its disgusting, and the dessert mint bar is about hal the size of a bite size candy bar...don't get that either.... kaykay 03-02-07, 07:18 PM Thanks Jessica! Great advice! I think I'll save my money, it sounds horrid! I like to eat large portions for fewer calories. That dont sound like my kind of plan. I just ordered some Shirtaki noodles over the internet that have no calories or carbs. Sounded to good to be true, but at no calories and all the noodles you can eat, I'll give it a shot. Have you tried them? JessicaL2005 03-13-07, 01:49 PM Haven't tried those but at GNC they have some sauces without any calories, I have no idea how they do it, but the BBQ sauce was actually pretty good, I was a little too afraid to try the alfredo sauce (didn't want the dissapointment) and the italian dressing was pretty good too. I love noodles though, let me know how they were! doulachic 03-17-07, 05:48 PM Have you heard of Diet-to-Go? It is a fresh food delivery service (they ship it frozen) and it is like something you would make on your own. It's almost like restaurant food.:) I have been doing it for three days (i just started) and so far the food is really good. They even have different plans: low fat, low carb, vegetarian, and calorie counts of 1200 or 1600. and you can get the full meals which are breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks or without snacks...or just the lunch and dinner (which is what i do) or just the dinner entrees. anyway check it out at www.diettogo.com good luck!:) smallfri 03-17-07, 06:09 PM hmm, I was looking at that, the food actually looks good. Expensive for me but I would think would be great for a single person. Although it is still really expensive. I spend that much on food for my whole family a week. And I get all the good foods. doulachic 03-18-07, 12:09 AM It is spendy. i am only doing it for a month, and only because we got our tax money back.:) I am married with 4 kids, and i spend about that much on weekly groceries for the family as well...this is basically a "splurge" on myself. I know i won't be able to do it until i reach goal, but I am just wanting to jump start my weight loss with DTG, and then i am hoping i will be motivated to continue on my own. What i like about DTG is you can just order it by the week, so it's not a long term commitment if it turns out you don't like it. anyway, everyone has their own thing that works for them!:) kaykay 03-31-07, 11:10 PM When I think about it, I probably spend that much trying different diet foods that I may or may not like! Those lean cuisens are over $2 per meal, then I always buy something new at the grocery store or something new I've heard about! Spaghetti squash is over $4 per squash! Then I bought those fishy smelling no calorie noodles that cost me over $25 with shipping and all, then I didnt like them so I threw half of them away. I could save all this money I try on new or different things and invest on a week supply or even a month supply. I've been looking at the medfast advertisments in magazines. I like microwave meals like lean cuisene or smart choice, so I really dont see the difference what brand it is as long as its good and you dont go over your calorie limit. I really like the Panini's. They are yummy with a little salt and fat free ranch to dip them in. Beth 04-01-07, 12:45 AM Kay, here is an additional thread about Nutrisystem that may be of a help to you :) http://www.diettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57095&highlight=Nutrisystem josephcole 04-02-07, 01:38 PM Hi Kay, Jim Forster's Diet-Blog.com has an awesome review of NutriSystem at the following link... http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2005/11/15/nutrisystem_a_complete_review.php To summarize, it can come in very handy for helping you lose weight and apparently is successful in that respect, but most customers do not continue for long due to various reasons. If you read the comments, you'll also notice that some people suffer from migraines, diaherria and other symptoms. Their food is also very high in sodium which should be a concern, especially if you suffer from high blood pressure. Hope that helps. Warmest, Joseph Cole |
