Alissa, I post on many boards and something I've heard a lot of people say is that when they were stuck and not even eating all the points, they were advised to eat a few MORE points a day for a week and to keep up the exercise.
As for disciplined v. undisciplined, even though I was careful in my wording, I was pretty sure that many people would see me saying something else, which is what happened. Yes, genetics has a lot to do with how easily one gains or loses, or maintains a given weight. Some people need more discipline than others. This may not be fair, but it's the truth. It can be discouraging at times, but it's life. Almost all the women in my family are overweight, however I will not allow myself to throw up my hands and say that genetics has doomed me. I believe it is a matter of discipline, and as I've said, some people need to exercise a lot more personal control than others. No, it's not fair, but neither is life. We can sit around and cry about it--I did that for about 10 years--or we can fight for the body we deserve. I almost have it and I'm enjoying it in every possible way. Who do we admire most in the world? Those who overcome amazing odds!
I can walk in a marathon, but you'd still think it were a more incredible feat if someone in a wheel chair did it right beside me. You'd give him or her much more credit, and he or she would deserve it. I played into the whole genetics BS for a long long time, but it never made me feel better. This has been a long long row to hoe and I'm proud of what I have done. I know keeping the weight off will be a lifelong struggle, but so very worth all the effort. I also think that the drug companies are very into telling everyone they can't lose weight because of their genetics--it sells their drugs. But that's just my opinion, and nobody has to agree with me. I've lost nearly 120lbs without any drugs, without powders, without special foods. It has taken me a year and a half, so far, and it has been more than a little difficult. I won't feel sorry for anyone because of their genetics, and I surely don't want anyone feeling sorry for me.
I'm here for you if you'd like support. Your strawberry picking sounds like a great idea. Wonderful exercise and fresh air. I love to do canning, also, but have been doing more freezing in the past few years due to limited free time.
Good luck to all
Shrinking vibes to you.
Affectionately,
Nichole
