Greetings fellow Diettalkers,

Those of you that have chatted with me know that I am a member of TOPS. I was just wondering if any other TOPS members are also Diettalkers and could chat via the BBS? I often get into the chatroom at odd times and have no one to chat with.

Hi Faye,
Yes, I am a member. I joined TOPS in September of 1998. They elected me co-leader in April of this year. It's an interesting position as you are the "replacement" for any other officer who is absent. I have served as leader, weight recorder, secretary and treasurer in the past few months.

I couldn't afford Weight Watchers, so for me, TOPS was the best choice. There are several good programs out there. Keep trying and you'll find the one you like the best.

what is basic premise of TOPS?
i am not familiar with it although i have heard of it..

TOPS stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly. Your goal weight and diet are dictated by your own physician. If your doctor does not specify a diet, you may choose to follow the TOPS exchange plan which is based on a diabetic diet. Formed in 1948, with over 11,000 chapters across the US and Canada, it remains a grass roots non-profit organization. They don't sell diet products, or packaged foods. You may purchase their book "The Choice is Yours" at a TOPS chapter near you, for about $9. You may attend a meeting for free to see if you like it. I belong to TOPS WA 1315. I have lost 45 pounds of the 80 that I need to lose since last October. I really enjoy it and find that the whole accountability thing really works for me.

I am also a member of TOPS, and have been since May of '98. I started my diet when I got into DT, after losing 20 lbs, I started going to TOPS and have lost 22 more. I really enjoy the group that I am in. TOPS really is only as good as the group you join) some seem better than others. I am the secretary for my group, which seems to really help me, think I am more accountable this way. Anyway, will be happy to chat about it anytime. Weily

I remember chatting with you in the past. Yes, I agree you have to find the right TOPS group to join, one that fits your lifestyle and age bracket. Our group is pretty diverse, 2 sets of sisters, 6 husband & wife couples, 3 single men, a teenager, 2 mother & daughters, and the rest of us fabulous females. Makes for interesting meetings.

I was just in chat and Honey was asking about you. I suggested checking the BBS here if you weren't in the chatroom at the time.

I have been a member of TOPS now for 2 years and I absolutlely love my group. I am from southern Illinois . We have about 20 active members which 3 of them are KOPS Keep off Pounds Sensibily. I was a member while I was pregnant and thanks to them I only gained 15 pounds. I still have 40 more pounds to loose but I am getting closer to my goal. I will stop by and post here often and stop to say Hello too, See ya all lighter!!!!!!

I forgot to mention our KOPS, we have 5. 2 of them just became KOPS this year.
