View Full Version : A New Start
I've been away from the site for a while... and I've gained back 10 of the 20lbs I worked so hard to lose. So, I'm back to what works!
I have not been exercising
I have not been drinking enough water
I've been eating twice as much as I should be when it comes to portions, salt, and fat and I haven’t been eating enough vegetables and fruit.
… I actually notice that I feel weak and I’m Thirsty a lot!
So...
*I'll begin to exercise again (minimum of a 1/2 hour 5 days a week)
*Drink lots of water (minimum of 64oz a day)
*And eat correctly (maximum of 1500 calories a day)
My goal is to lose 70lbs so I can gain 10-15lbs back when I go on the cruise in June!!!
Boy oh boy-
This is my first holiday as a "professional" and my goodness can the faculty lounge be a danger zone.
Today there were dozens upon dozens of Doughnuts, home made brownies with cream cheese in them, mini muffins, cookies, etc. Fortunately, I'm not nuts about sweets- I'm more of a carbohydrate/fat gal and my stomach is feeling a little off today I think I've caught a little of what the kids are passing around. However, my point is- it was still tempting.
I ate a donut- my supervisor couldn't stop raving about them so I ate one. It's not the end of the world; I had a decent lunch and dinner- but not nearly enough water. There is always something to work on. :)
Stress doesn't help- I just graduated from Graduate School, I'm an unemployed elementary school counselor now, and I'm still waiting to hear from a potential employer. I had a second interview yesterday and I'm STILL waiting to hear. They should be calling any day now. The suspense is beginning to take its toll.
But I’ll survive, I always do…
Well, that's all for today, until next time...
getnfit@38 12-18-02, 07:58 AM Hi Emily,
Sounds like you know what you want to work on, and knowing is 1/2 the battle! :)
I actually have the water thing down to a science now! After forcing my husband to drink 5 bottles of Gator Ade, I took the empty 20oz. bottles as my water bottles, and I keep 5 at a time in the fridge. Once you start on a bottle, you're usually pretty determined to finish it, and each one you finish is 20oz of water. And finishing one at a meal is easier than anything, so if you're able to find some bottles about that size (20oz is pretty non threatening), they're easy to carry with, and easy to finish because it's just about the right amount, not too much and not to little, and before you know it, you've had 4 bottles of water or more by bedtime. It takes time to increase, but not much in 20oz increments! :)
Donna
getnfit@38,
I actually have a similar system... Problem is I just got out of the habit, but your right. Once you start drinking it... it's easy to finish. You've inspired me to get on the ball. I'll go get it and get with it today! Thanks!
It worked really well before. I have one of those Nalgien (sp?) bottles- the ones hikers usually carry with them. They are great to bring to work, they have a nice screw top and are very easy to pack and carry to work or wherever. I drink 2 a day (or more) and that's the minimum requirement per day.
Have a terrific day, Thanks so much!

I just took a look at your stats! Your're doing a wonderful job! You must be so proud! Keep up the good work!!!! :D
Nutdoc;
Welcome back girl. :D
I have been really busy this month with lots of overtime at work. Tis the season for us to not know which end is up during this time of year.......lol
I can also understand what your saying about the faculty lounge being a danger zone. It's the same at work. Where ever you look there are chocolates, donuts, cakes, fancy pastries, you name it, if it's loaded with calories it's at work these past few weeks.
I have a challange going in the exercise forum that a few have joined. I would love to see you join us also. :)
I hope you get the job you want as waiting has got to be the hardest. Take care and once again welcome back.

I was offered the job!!! And I accepted!
I'm going down there on Monday to sign my contract, get my fingerprints taken and my KEYS TO MY OFFICE and the rest of the building.
Now I move! I can't wait to move- it's fun looking for apartments however, I'm dreading the packing and cleaning part, but hey it has to be done... so I must do it, so it will be done.
Hi Judy2! I knew you'd find me :) It's terrific to hear from you again! Regarding Exercise, well, I'm looking at an apartment that is two miles form where I work- so I can walk 4 miles a day! Not bad. Plus, I'm planning to get a dog this coming summer and he/she will need exercise too. AND, I was thinking about joining Weight Watchers when I move. It will acomplish two things at once... 1) drop some lbs and 2) meet some people.
Well, I have to go. It's my last day at my internship site, so I have to get ready.
Have a great day!
I am devoting the entire day to cleaning. This way if my landlord wants to show my apartment while I'm away for the holiday, he can. AND when I finaly get around to packing I wont have to clean as much as I go. Big job ahead, but I'll feel really good when it's done. Maybe even too good. I might not want to leave. :)
So, here I go
:super: cleaner is on the way!
