View Full Version : The Adventures Of Minnie Continues...
Minnie mouse 01-01-03, 12:04 PM Well here I am and welcome to my new journal.
It feels homey already.
thsi is my 4th journal since i started diet talk and i hope i have much success to write about in here.
A new year and a new beginning for me.
It feels good to have a fresh new start.
I learned alot in this last 9 months since joining this site. and i learned we are all human and all have set backs on the way and to just pick up the pieces and keep moving forward.
a long time ago if i slipped up i would've just quit but i've come so far to ever go back to how i was.
I always hated to exercise and much to my disbeleif i really miss it now so i have made progress there.
I have made many great friends here who are so caring and supportive and it has meant so much to me and helped alot.
I am learning to love myself and to care about my health and to put myself first for some things.
I am so excited about starting over. I have been ready mentally for several days to get started and tommorow i go back to work and back to routine and i am happy about that.
I know i cannot be perfect and wont try to be but i am going to try to be the best i can be and try to make good choices for myself.
When i do have any set backs i will not hate myself but i will look at how far i've come and that it is only human to slip and i will learn to forgive myself to and to go on.
tommorow i will weigh and change my stats as i have gained quite a bit im sure so i will go from there.
but my weigh in's are going to be on fridays still , but i just got to mark where i will be starting from.
I am ready to let go of this fat and to welcome a new, healthier body.
I will say that from all the over eating that i feel much lazier and much more tired. i feel bloated and pants feel tighter.
i like the way i felt before even when i was hungier. I like to have the plan of points and the disipline it provides cuz i cant do it myself and be trusted not to over eat cuz i always do.
Ok my friends wish me luck. Tommorow begins the fist day of the rest of my life.
I am ready!!!!
have a great day and a quote i have in my head for when i slip is:
To Err is human,
but to forgive is divine
So we all need to forgive ourselves when we have a bad day cuz no one is perfect and we are harder on ourselves than anyone else.
Love you all.
mom2five 01-01-03, 12:18 PM Good luck Minnie.

chumlette 01-01-03, 10:47 PM Way to go, Minn.
I've been waiting for you to pick yourself back up and trudge forward with me again!
Just look at where you were a year ago today. You have come so far. And next year, you will be looking back on today, and thinking "wow! I never knew I'd come THIS far."
Happy New Year Minn!
Minnie mouse 01-01-03, 11:15 PM Hello everyone and i see alot of people started new journals for the new year. May we each find success along the way.
well my family came for dinner and i must say i did a good job with all the food. the kids helped set the tables and stuff and hubby made the oreo pie(he did a great job)
but with the forecast calling for ice and snow tonight my family stayed a few hours and headed home so they wouldnt get caught in it but we had fun.
my mom even brought fudge and jalepeno poppers which i love.
the girls got cool gifts. my one got silk blue pants with the word angel on them, an angel shirt and a silk matching jacket with a hood that says angel.(she got her other gifts before)
my other girl got 2 really nice blouses and a bra and undie set she loved and she got pink sil pants that say cutie with matching jacket and a shirt that says princess.
so all went well.
my house is all nice and clean too and tommorow i have work. i hope the weather isnt bad for my first day back to work.
kids have been used to staying awake on vacation and now had to go back to regular bedtimes.
ex called earlier. i tell you he is a pain in my ass. i had words with him on the phone. the kids are going to see him on friday too but it was over trivial things he tries to get involved with with the kids and exert his opinions on what i need to do in certain situations like my girl with that boy. well i went off on him. he is so sad as a parent and the nerve to tell me how to be one. i was fit to be tied so i told him off after having enough of his crap. i deleivered presents to his family on sat. from HIM and got no thanks or anything just compaints so i decided no more being nice. ok enough venting on that but i will say when i yelled he settled down his tone.
he just said he didnt want to see our girl get in trouble and i said well all it takes is a girl to meet 1 *****hole boy and her life could be ruined, you know what i mean" and he did know what i meant since i was talking about him and then i said good-bye.
I was proud at the way i asserted myself against him. Yeah for me!!!
well i am going to get a good rest tonight and hammer in on my plan tommrow and will let you all know how i do. I have alot of faith in myself.
i have been mentally preparing for a few good days now.
im sure my body wont know what hit it but after i shock it back in place it will be ok.
i know i need to re-shrink my tummy so i expect to feel hungry for about a week and i know my muscles are weaker now so i expect to be sore so i will take it easy and build myself back up to where i was and i am excited too.
well im going for now. wishing you all a great day tommorow. take care and talk to you soon.
Happy re-shrinking !!!!
I will be with ya buddy !!!
hope your day is wonderful tomorrow

mickeyvoll 01-02-03, 06:26 AM Hey Minnie! Congratulations on your new start - I know that you will achieve what you want to achieve - you are obviously keen and ready to get back with the exercise and diet regime.
I hope you continue to reap the successes you have already made, in this coming year and the years to follow.
Minnie mouse 01-02-03, 10:48 AM good morning everyone.
I must be brief here cuz i got to get ready for work.
well i weighed after 5 weeks of not following plan and no exercise i have gained 13.5 pounds. :(
much to my dismay. although i have no one to blame but myself as i ate for the past 5 weeks anything i wanted too but i learned a hard lesson here that i must follow my program which is very dispilined and structured for me.
so today i started fresh. I did 25 crunches and i rode 5 miles on my bike and i have my daily menu all planned out to follow.
so i will change my stats with much dread to what i weigh now and look forward to keep changing them to lower numbers.
ok I gotta go so have a good day and will talk later.
mickeyvoll 01-02-03, 11:04 AM Hey Minnie, at least you know what you have got to do. Those pounds will soon melt away once you get back on that bike.
mcmarto 01-02-03, 11:19 AM Hey Minnie!
Congratulations on your new start!
We need to be conscious of when and why we eat...and this will be our year!
Good Luck!
mcmarto
Minnie _ I am happy to see your back on track :)
I too went awol and gained at least - 10 lbs....grrrrrrr!
But the important thing is we are back and ready to WIN this battle!!!! :)
Jade
Ruthieb 01-02-03, 07:56 PM Minnie, I waited untill you started a new journal to stop in I wanted to stop in and tell you how much you and your friendship means to me. You have always been there for me and it means a lot to me. I've battled depression the last few months and it has just meant a lot to me to have you on my side. Thanks For Being My Friend, Ruthieb
StaceyJG1 01-02-03, 08:27 PM Sandy,
You did it once, you WILL do it again. No doubt! It will come off fast, too, since it's "new" weight. You know what you need to do, so do it!
I took a couple of days of eating what I wanted, not pigging out, but decided to take a little break. It's tough to get back in the mode, but I will. Good for you doing 5 miles! You'll be feeling that later!
I'm proud of you for sticking up for yourself to your ex. He sounds like a real peach! I have one of those, too.
Ok, Sandy, I'm counting on you to help me get back in the mode of this battle, and I'll be here for you too. We will succeed this year...this is OUR year!!
jukie1028 01-02-03, 09:48 PM Hey Sandy!
Don't you worry now, before you know it you'll be back to your usual speedy self making the rest of us moan in exhaustion. Those pounds will run screaming for mercy, I promise.
Thank you for stopping by my journal, and oh yeah... good for you for standing up to the ex!!!!!!! I'm very proud of you!
Have a great evening...
chumlette 01-03-03, 12:56 PM Don't worry, Minn. Just take it one step at a time. Accountability was your first step. Then getting back to exercising was your second step. Every minute of every day, you have two choices to make regarding living a healthy lifestyle. Just remember you can always make the healthier choices more often then the less healthy choice and still lose weight. So, keep your chin up girl. We can do this together. You've got all our support behind you.
maximum 01-03-03, 01:40 PM  Here's to a NEW US! I too have been MIA.. OF course my action was my hand to my mouth. I gained ... Drum ROLL please, 16 pounds........And I'm tippin the scales... pfffffffffffff...... But I'm ready to get rid of it. We will do this!
Ex's - to make a long story short mine left me when our daughter was 8 months old. 13 years later, he has remarried and has two more daughters 3 and 4 years old. Well his wife left him and the kids, and he calls me and says...." all I can remember is you telling me." " I hope everything you ever did bad to me happens twice as bad to you."
"WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND''
Keep in touch..:)
Minnie mouse 01-03-03, 05:17 PM Hello! well i posted here a few minutes ago and somehow it was lost so now i am mad. so i need to be brief.
yesterday went well in all areas.
today had snow so no school so i had to miss work.
me and hubby took tree down and decorations and i decorated for valentines day.
didnt exercise yet but eating is good so far.
all your support and friendships here mean the world to me and are such a help in my progress.
your all you special.
this will be our year of success.
have a good weekend and talk soon.
Ruthieb 01-03-03, 11:27 PM Minnie, You will get back on your bike nd everything will be good as new you have worked to hard to turn back now. Ruthieb
Minnie mouse 01-04-03, 10:10 PM Hello~~
well today was a long day. Hubby went snow plowing this morning. but then he plowed out our driveway which was good cuz its big and then we dont have to shovel it out.
well kids didnt go to see there dad. i couldnt figure out what happened as i kept calling him all day and no one was there or so i thought. well tonight he called and he got lots of snow and they had lost power so he may take them next weekend instead.
well hubby, me and kids got subway and then went to wallmart where my hubby got himself walkie talkies he wanted for hunting for next year. he is so happy with his new toy.
i got a pedometer i am very happy with(my new toy)
he set it for me. it records the miles i walk, how many steps i take, the calories burned, my height, my weight, the date. its really nice.
i will be using it tommorow.
and each day and recording how far i went and calories burned.
my older girl got a new CD player. she had hers for a year and it finally gave out.(her new toy) the other 2 kids didnt get toys but new batteries. my son has been playing game boy all day.
havent heard a peep out of him.
Last night we switched the kids rooms around.
they look good. im sure i burned calories doing that work.
had pizza last night due to snow and not going for groceries. we ordered out and hubby had to go get it cuz they werent deleivering this far out with the snow.
I did ride 3 miles this morning on the bike too. :D
so now i have my bike, weights, pedometer, journals,ww books, workout tapes, and food scale so i am ready to do this.
when we move to a bigger place which were looking to do this spring or summer hubby says i can have a treadmill. i am so glad. i want one so bad but no where to put it here.
so all in all a good day, very busy and long too.
i got alot of laundry done, and house cleaned up.
i was productive.
i am going for now to read for a bit. take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Minnie it sounds like you had a busy day. Love that attitude -- we can do this. I went out today and bought a journal and have decided I will only put positive reinforcing thoughts and ideas in there to keep me motivated. I've also decided tomorrow I'll take my measurements ( don't want to do that but they say you may not loose pounds but you loose inches.)
Hope your having a great weekend. I'm going to soak in a nice hot tub and read as well.
Sandy,
wow, you are so ready to get fit. That is fantastic. Good for you.
You should be at the exercise chat!!!!!!!
see you.
jukie1028 01-04-03, 11:02 PM Hi Minnie!
You sound so happy, I'm glad! Thanks as always for stopping by my journal, you know I love that.
I'm so jealous of your new toy, I want a pedometer too! Is it a digital one, I'm guessing it must be. How very cool! Of course, I'm afraid if I get one I'll find out just how little walking I do, my job is at a desk and I tend to sit and crochet at home. It could be a very depressing purchase for me.... I'll probably still do it though, why not?
Have a great evening!
Laura Little 01-05-03, 02:18 AM Hi Minnie...:D
Long time no see..:( So glad the holidays are over.. But we are having a dinner at my Granny's tomorrow..THE LAST ONE!! If I make it pass that with out a gain I'll be lucky.
I haven't been working out like I really should be but at least doing some thing every night before bed.
Have fun with your new toy, I bet you will be surprised what you do walk in a day.
Have a GREAT Sunday..
Laura
mcmarto 01-05-03, 02:20 AM Hey Minnie!
What kind of pedometer did you get (brand)?...I have one too but I haven't worn it in...must now find it!
I have to go back to work on Monday (school)...I would love it if we were snowed out!...But of course...here in Chicago...the CEO never cancels school!...HAHAHAHA!
Have a great Sunday!
mcmarto
Hey Minnie!!
Where on earth do you get all that energy? You put me to shame! I'm betting that with all the running around that you do, that new pedometer is going to be worn out within 6 months!!
I just wanted you to know that you are such a great inspiration! We are going to do it this year! Have a good weekend.
Sherri
Minnie I have a pedometer too - can you hubby set mine for me? no one here can 8-| lol
As much walking as I do on my job I would love to know the amount.......sigh
Maybe I should give it to my grand children and let them play with it, maybe they will figure it out lol
Jade
mickeyvoll 01-05-03, 12:56 PM Hi Minnie
If you move house in Spring/Summer and get that treadmill you will practically be able to open up your own gym!!! I'm jealous. I want a treadmill, but we haven't room for one here. I should try and convince my partner to move, we need more storage space!
Good look with the pedometer - it will be interesting to see how many steps/how far you go in a day!
Minnie mouse 01-05-03, 01:04 PM Hello everyone~~
In answer to the pedometer questions:
The name brand i got is called "sportcraft" it was only 8.43 in wallmart.
my hubby set it cuz it was confusing but now that its all set its easy to use. I am wearing it now. Yes it is digital too.
I got all my exercises out of the way this morning cuz i need to go get groceries in a bit and stock up on all my lowfat snacks and such so im not tempted by other foods here.
well i rode 5 miles on the bike, i did 40 AB crunches, i worked out with the dumbell weights and of course i am counting steps with the pedometer which i will report reading of it tonight.
I had grits for breakfast while hubby was eating Ham & eggs(one of my favorites)
I am really energized today. Didnt sleep real good either due to running to the bathroom all night from all the liquid im consuming.
My arms were so sore from the weights as i havent done them in weeks but i feel good now and glad i got the exercise accomplished earlier today so its out of the way and my metabolism is kicked up a notch for the day.
well i hope you all have a wonderful sunday.
Laura: you will get through the dinner fine. you are doing so well and then after your dinner thankfully the holiday meals are finally over.
Julie: You wouldnt beleive that if you wore the pedometer that the steps add up fast. mine has a setting for miles but also for steps taken which is what im counting and the calories burned. i have been awake for 2 hours and am already at 1,800 steps and i just did normal walking in the house with cleaning up and stuff so by the end of today i am aiming for the `10,000 steps reccomended by the diabetes assoc.
Jade: i wish i could let my hubby set your pedometer. maybe someone else can for you. when i opened mine its seemed so confusing but after hubby set it, its easy now. setting it was my problem.
Lee: laways a pleasure to hear from you. a hot bath and reading after a long day sounds relaxing to me.
I was doing measurements but stopped for now. i know its more accurate sometimes than the scale and i should measure too.
SLM:Thanks for stopping by. everyone here is an inspiration to me too. Keeps me going when i want to give in. thanks for stopping by.
MC: I am sick of snow and dont want anymore. there calling for 1-2 this afternoon and more on wed. night into thursday as of now but the forecast always changes.
i just hate the winter.
Crazy: glad to hear from you Nancy. i should go to the exercise chat and report what ive done all week. what day and time is it again? I will think on it.
ok i hope i got everyone , if not im sorry. i gotta run to get the groceries now before it snows again.
talk later!
maximum 01-05-03, 01:55 PM Hey Min~ Thanks for stopping by. Hmmm I have a pedometer around here somewhere. Mine would have about 10 step on it by the end of the day.... HAHA HA... oh!
Funny to hear about snow. Not to brag but its been in the high 70's here. I feel blessed. I wonder if shivering burns calories
;)
jukie1028 01-05-03, 02:08 PM Hi Minnie!
$8.43 at Wally World hunh? I'll be getting one next week then. No need for the expensive ones if you like yours and it sounds like a good one. Cool!
Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
Ruthieb 01-05-03, 05:25 PM Hi Minnie, Just want to check in and see how things were going with you. I'm still doing good with the eating and going to start my exercise this week after the kids get back to school. Ruthieb
Minnie mouse 01-05-03, 06:12 PM Today is going good. went and got groceries. i am all stocked up now on good foods and lowfat snacks too.
i took the pedometer off cuz i kept hitting the re-start button but at last count i was over 3,000 steps. tommorow im going to put it on a different part of me that i wont keep bumping.
tonight gonna watch a good movie on tv and take shower so i doubt if i will be back on tonight and tommorow morning son has dentist appt. then after work my girl has basketball practice and theres a boy scout leader meeting at night that im the secretary for so i will get on here when i can.
take care and talk to you all soon.

mcmarto 01-05-03, 08:02 PM Hey Minnie!
You sound so pumped...I am impressed with all of the exercise you have been doing!...Keep up the good work!
In regards to winter...I don't care much for it either...I just keep thinking...first day of Spring is March 21st...and though sometimes we still have snow here in Chicago at this time...it will be 2 or 3 weeks away from warmer weather!...
Oh just think...by March 21st we should be at least 15 pounds lighter!
Woohoo!
mcmarto
jukie1028 01-05-03, 09:16 PM The first day of spring!!!!! Birds singing, flowers blooming, bees buzzing..... aahhhhhhh.... I'm aiming for 20 pounds, howsabout you? ;)
Are you sure you kept hitting the reset button Minnie? Maybe it kept rolling over like a car odometer when it hits 100,000+... you run all over the place so much perhaps you just kept rolling it over? It wouldn't surprise me a bit if you did!
Have a great evening!
Minnie mouse 01-06-03, 08:46 AM good morning~~

Minnie mouse 01-07-03, 10:37 AM Good morning and a busy morning i have once again. i got to leave soon to go to post office to pay bills then off to work.
my steps yesterday totaled 8,640. i was aiming for 10,000 but didnt quite make it and today i have the pedometer on but had late start putting it on so we'll see how well i do.
i did weights this morning and 30 crunches. I will need to do the bike tonight.
My weigh in day will be friday. I am a bit nervous due to this week is TOM but i peeked at scale this morning and am down 1.5 pounds. i guess the exercise is helping it,
ok gotta go. will check in on your journals tonight. have a great day.
chumlette 01-07-03, 10:38 AM Well, how is my friend Minn today? How is it being back in a schedule?
Great going Minnie! Keeping the yes foods in the house is sooooooo important. If I am around no no foods with no yes foods handy I usually cave.......sigh

Lizzie B 01-08-03, 12:26 AM Hi Sandy,
Wow you are going fast and furious!!!!! Good for you. This holiday season really was hard on some of us. Took me a while to get moving again but got stopped dead in my tracks. Extta special to see you accomplishing so much!!
Right back on track and groovin. Have a super day and glad to see you on your way again!!
love and big hugs,
Lizzie
Minnie mouse 01-08-03, 10:01 AM Good morning~~
I was so glad to hear from all of you. i couldn't come on here last night like i wanted too. It was too hectic. i was busy helping the girls sell girl scout cookies.
but after work i did follow through and ride 5 miles on the bike.
I did well on my plan yesterday and at night which is the hardest time of day for me.
This morning i rode 5 miles on the bike, did 40 AB crunches and am using my pedometer for steps. all those steps really add up to miles. yesterdays total of steps was 8,058 and over 6 miles.
i was impressed. but i keep hitting this dumb button so i dont have the calories burned off listed.
its hard to not bump this. so i keep checking it to see the steps im at and trying to remember in case i bump it off.
so actually i had more than that for steps cuz i put it on at 9 but was up from 6 and i took it off by 10 but was up to 11 so i bet i did make the 10,000 steps.
well eating is good and water needs to improve which i will work on today. we are busy at work with the .99 cent whopper special.
I am so happy to have gotten the groove back and it feels good to see the numbers going down on the scale.
I checked it today again and i am down a total of 3 pounds this week so far and i dont weigh till friday morning so im doing good and feeling proud and a whole lot more in control.
well have a wonderful day and take care.
mickeyvoll 01-08-03, 10:35 AM Wow - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Friday! Let's hope the scale continues to go down.
I'm so pleased you've got back into this - even with your pre-Christmas set back you are still over 30 pounds down from where you started from, and that's a major achievement. I'm so proud of you.
chumlette 01-08-03, 11:17 AM WTG, Minnie! I knew once you got back into the swing of things you would feel a lot better.
I agree with Mickey. You have come so far!!! Be proud of yourself, not only for the last week, but for the last YEAR!
maximum 01-08-03, 11:21 AM So,,,Looks like your right back on the wagon Good for you. Think I'll buy some side rails for mine just in case....:D
Congrats on the 3 pounds Minnie. I'm sure you will see even more lost by Friday!
Feels good to be back into the regular routine doesn't it? I just know that this is going to be a great year for you.
Keep going girl - you can do it!
Sherri
I am digging my ped thing back out and finding someone to set it for me - I am jealous , you are having all the fun with yours ;)

jukie1028 01-08-03, 09:53 PM Good for you Minnie! I'm hoping to get my pedometer this weekend so I can be depressed and motivated at the same time. I know I sit too much so maybe actually seeing that will help me to get up and move.
Congrats on 3 pounds!!
Ruthieb 01-08-03, 11:49 PM Hi Minnie, WOW 3 pounds!!! GREAT!!! I'm so happy for you it must feel so good to lose 3 pounds after the holidays. I'm still hanging with my plan doing good a little hungry tonight but I'll drink water and be okay. Stop by again soon, Ruthieb
SarahJH22 01-09-03, 12:14 AM Way to go Minnie. I wish I had a pedometer at work, I am a waitress and it would be cool to see how many miles I walk every nith.
sandielynne 01-09-03, 12:31 AM Hi Sandy,
I see you have gotten your "groove" back and you are taking off! Well, good for you kiddo! I knew there was no stoping you now.
I'm doing pretty good myself now. I've been doing well with my exercise, food, and even my water. Now how's that for determination? We are both going to shine brighter than Pluto this year............LOL Couldn't help that little pun. Hope you didn't mind........haha.
Keep up the good work kiddo.
Sandie
chumlette 01-09-03, 09:48 AM Ha! I like Max's idea for siderails to that wagon! How about a straitjacket, too? hee
Have a wonderful day, my friend.

Minnie mouse 01-10-03, 11:26 AM Thanks so much for everyone who stopped by to post here. it makes feel like i have something to look forward to with all these posts and i feel cared for.
And so nice to hear from crickett and Anita~~I miss you 2.
weigh in was great this morning. i lost 3.5 pounds for the week and i am darn proud of myself for how much i exercised and ate good and it paid off.
:dn :dn I'm doing the happy dance.
I am 36 pounds down total so far and will keep on going till goal.
feels so good to see the numbers going down again, and gives me more motivation too and all of you are a big help to me too.
I resisted cake at work yesterday and ate my applesauce instead.
My steps yesterday were 13,000 and i didnt put the pedometer on till 10. i found a new place that i wont bump it,. i attached it to the outside of my sock.
well so far today im at 5,000 steps and its only 10:30 so i should have a good number tonight.
i did 40 crunches this morning and rode 5 miles on the bike.
and i got to go to work now so talk to you all later.
have a great friday.
mickeyvoll 01-10-03, 12:16 PM Minnie
I just want to say congratulations - 3.5lb is awsome! And you should feel loved - you have so many people that visit your thread, you are so cared about!
maximum 01-10-03, 12:34 PM How long does it take you to do 5 miles on the bike?
StaceyJG1 01-10-03, 01:06 PM Super Sandy!!
3.5#!! AWESOME!! You rock, girl! You are definitely in the zone again.
You will do it!!
Minnie I went out last night and bought the same one as you have!!!! YES! :D
Told hubby your hubby set yours and he could do mine too lol
and he did!
I have a question about it though - I was watching it real close and noticed if I move my legs it counts it as a step - even if I did not take a step - does yours do this?
Like say I am cleaning my tub out - which of course even on my knees I move around, it picks up my leg movement....
36 lbs is :super: you are doing great! :cheer:

Minnie mouse 01-10-03, 06:04 PM Hello everyone~~
thanks so much for stopping by. I will tell you it is difficult at work with the whopper special going not to have one. today i was very tempted to take one home but i didnt. i decided i would come home and eat what is on my menu even if it is the weekend. i am now glad i made that choice.
To answer Jade's question, mine does the same as yours. the leg movement counts too. im glad you got your hubby to get yours going. you will be suprised how the steps add up. it is 5 pm and i am at 14,002 steps and its equivalent to 13.26 miles, and i have burned 1,175 in calories and the day is not over. i never realized i walk so much all day long.
well im going for now to eat dinner and will try to come on here again later to read and post in journals.
bye for now!
mcmarto 01-10-03, 08:50 PM Good for you Minnie!

Well...good for you for passing up that Whopper (w/ out may or cheese......510 cals...23 fat...3 fiber...or a Jr. Whopper 320 cals...14 fat...2 fiber).......in case you want to fit it in another day!...I am sure you know this though!

Minnie mouse 01-11-03, 10:01 AM Good morning and thanks everyone.
I still need to exercise yet which i will be doing when i get done posting in journals.
alot to do today.
going for groceries soon to get more good food in the house.
then in the afternoon going to my girls basketball game and tonight me and sis are taking all our kids rollerskating.
hubby is gone down my parents for the day. hes helping my dad get things out of my grandpas house. he died almost 2 years ago and the house got sold and theres odds and ends they need to finish up. plus my dad is giving us a dresser for my son(my kids have so much clothes theres no where to put them) and were getting a giant chalkboard. my grandpa made it when he was alive out of real slate from an old school building and he made a wooden frame around it. it is big too and my girl loves to play school(she wants to be a teacher one day) and it is for her to use.
she cannot wait to get it here.
Behaved last night and for snack had mini pretzels and choc soy milk. i love that soy milk now and at least im getting some calcium in.
well im going for now. have a great day and take care.
Minnie mouse 01-11-03, 02:45 PM well i will be leaving soon to go to the basketball game. i already went and got the groceries. more good foods for the houshold and plenty of good, healthy choices for me.
i got ingredients to make stuffed peppers one night this week. my whole family loves them including myself and there not to bad. the pepper itself is 0 points and just gotta count for the meat, rice and sauce.
before i went shopping i got my exercise in. i rode 5 miles on the bike, did my weights and did 30 Ab crunches so thats out of the way. it is 1:30 pm and i have almost 8,000 steps in already.
sis is coming around 4 and were taking kids out to eat before skating and of course they picked BK. so i think as my free meal tonight i will have that whopper i have been craving and skip the fries and have a baked potato instead and no soda. i will have tea in its place.
i have it all accounted for. for breakfast i had 2 bowls of cereal and for lunch 1 sandwich.
well im going for now or we wont get a parking spot at the school.
Have a wonderful saturday.( i am proud that i did all my exercise even on a saturday) im making progress.
Badelle 01-11-03, 05:19 PM Minnie,
Wow! You're doing great!!!!! I went out and got a pedometer when I read about how much fun you're having with yours. Unfortunately, my $8.43 pedometer ended up costing me $32.00. Why can't I get out of Walmart for under $30.00...lol.
Keep up the good work!
jukie1028 01-11-03, 05:26 PM Hey Sandy,
Rick was smart and didn't let me go to Wally World this week, so maybe next I'll get that pedometer.
Enjoy that Whopper, you certainly deserve it. Got to have a free meal, we couldn't survive without one. At least I couldn't!
Don't fall off your skates!
babyface 01-11-03, 07:11 PM Hi Minnie Mouse,
Not bad, all them exercises, YOU GO GIRL!:ex: :lift:
I haven't been to BK in about a year and a half (we usually go to Wendy's). Do they actually have baked potato now? What other new things do they have? I use to always get the BK broiler with cheese and without mayo. Yumm! Yumm!
As you can tell I haven't eaten dinner yet and I am a bit hungry.
Well, hope you had fun with the kids.
And congrats on getting all your exercises in!
Keep it up girlfriend!;)
Babyface
mcmarto 01-11-03, 08:08 PM Good job Minnie!
You are doing so well...so active!
I take my students out for recess (even in the cold weather)...well...I hate standing around freezing my butt...so lately I have been playing tag with them and jogging with them around the playground!...Burning up those extra calories!
Hope you had fun skating!
mcmarto
Sandy,
You are doing just great with your execise and your food. Good for you. What a great time you are having. Busy as usual though.
Take care.
Thanks for the info on pedo. thing minnie :)
Yes you should be proud of yourself - weekends are super rough and you are doing wonderful!!!!!

jukie1028 01-12-03, 10:57 AM Hi Minnie!
Send me some motivation this morning I'm really tired today.
Stay warm, even down here it's 19° and cloudy, looks like it should snow but I won't mention that to Rick. The sky has that hazy look to it, and the sun is still showing behind the clouds but VERY hazy. I'm sure you know what I mean. ;)
Stay warm!!
mickeyvoll 01-12-03, 01:01 PM Hi Minnie
I can't believe how much exercise you are getting in!!! That's just fantastic! You'll soon have those pounds screaming for surrender that's for sure!!!!
So did hubby get home safe with all the new furniture? I used to love playing with my blackboard when I was a kid - I used to want to be a teacher too!
I hope you had a great weekend anyway.
Minnie mouse 01-12-03, 03:10 PM Hello everyone~~
Yes hubby got home with the blackboard and more stuff. finally got it all put away.
well i enjoyed my free meal and didnt over do it either.
me and sis didnt skate but we walked around the rink alot. my sis cannot skate due to her back is bad from a car accident a few yrs ago.
but i got good miles in. my steps for the day were 18,200 and the calories burned were 1,527 and the miles it was equivalent to was 17.24
this morning i did 50 AB crunches and rode 5 miles on the bike.
so i exercised all weekend.
skipped breakfast today and had a nice salad for lunch and for dinner having an egg omlet with ham and cheese, peppers and onions but am making the omlet with the egg whites.
i am learning to eat better and make better choices so i can eat more.
having an ok day, kids were fighting but finally stopped it.
one girl has scouts tonight well actually from 4-6.
im going for now and have a great sunday and hopefully relaxing too.
sandielynne 01-12-03, 03:51 PM Good day to you Sandy ~
Looks like you have really got yourself in the right frame of mind and body from the way you are monitoring your food and increasing the exercise. I guess when we are determined enough, we just do whatever it takes to get where we want to be. You've done a great job so far, and I just know you'll be at goal this year.
Take good care of yourself. Glad to see you'll be getting a little R&R today. You certainly need it.......LOL.
Hugz,
Sandie...... :)
Minnie -- Congratulations on your loss as well as your drive!!!
I'm so proud of you. I'm plugging along trying to stay on program -- what I really need to do is refocus on my exercise program!!!:o Tomorrow night it's Aquacises ..... Just call me Aqua Girl.....lol. Have a great day!
Garfield (Lee)
Minnie mouse 01-12-03, 08:23 PM Hello everyone~~
well today went well. i had scrambeled eggs for dinner(only the egg whites) they were good too and i mixed peppers in too. i never had the egg whites alone without yolk but they were quite good and on ww 1 egg is 2 pts but 3 egg whites are only 1 so it saved me points too.
watched a lifetime movie with my older girl. lifetime had mother/daughter weekend going on.
we enjoyed it alot.
last night the skating was fun for the kids and a boy there liked my girl but she still likes that boy that i despise. i saw her with this new kid drinking soda and he bought her a candy bar but there just friends. she is trying to set him up with her best friend.
oh well.... i am stressed over all the boys and her on the phone.
anyways doing good and going for now to read more journals then to read for a bit. i am relaxing till bedtime after a stressful weekend.
take care!
mcmarto 01-12-03, 10:15 PM Wow...that is a lot of calories on your pedometer!...Good for you!
Are you walking more then you normally do?...This is great!...I can usually reach between 7 - 11,000 steps on mine...but only got to 13,000 once or twice!
I am going to test mine out tomorrow...where it while I walk on the treadmill to make sure its pretty acurate...I am OCD when it comes to numbers...for calories...for fat...for my pedometer...etc!
hahahaha...Have a great week.......keep up the good work!...You are doing great!
mcmarto
Laura Little 01-12-03, 10:39 PM HI MINNIE:
Long time no see. I am so behind. Looks like you are doing wonderful..
Girls and boys it will never end...I have 3 teenagers and it is really stressfull at times..Glad to see you had mother time with her.
Way to go on the cising your doing wonderful.
See ya around
Good Luck this week.
Little
tmayder 01-13-03, 10:47 AM Sandy, you are doing so darned well! It makes me smile to see it, too!
I remember when my girls were teens I would see them do things and I wanted to shake some sense into them. Just telling them that I made those mistakes once myself is not something they pay any attention to. It goes to show that we all are destined to make the same mistakes. It's how we are supposed to learn, I suppose. The problem is.... I tend to need a hammer smacked over my head a few times before I 'get it'. Anyway, maybe your daughter will learn not to give the good guys away to her friends. (Gawd, I did that so many times! LOL!)
Hugs!
Linda
maximum 01-13-03, 12:02 PM You know one of my best tools so far have been the people around my daughter that I use as example. She'll tell me all about her friends and I can pick out each one and tell her how thye will be before the end of the year, and for the last three years I have been Correct. Like one she had I told her was insecure and could only find Comfort in knowing that she has to consistantly have a boyfriend, and by the end of the year she wil have gone through lots of boyfriends and everyone will start calling her a HOOCH. And by the end of the year I WAS RIGHT.:curtsey: Yes Of course.. Thank You Thank YOu.
I have done this on several occasions, and she is amazed and gets her to thinking. Eh, I still have a ways to go. My 12 year old son worrys me more with the girls. ESH! He's 12 and the kid always has a girlfriend?????? Ah the joys in life.....And its hard cause he doesn't live with us. So I'm always wondering....
Sorry to go on about me in YOUR JOURNAL...... HA HA HA
You Excersice QUEEN YOU.......
chumlette 01-13-03, 12:10 PM Hey girl! Happy Monday! Your weekend sounded eventful! I'm glad you got a chance to relax a bit last night! Keep your head on straight this week, Minn! Let's have a successful week!!!
Minnie mouse 01-14-03, 09:34 AM Good morning everyone and thanks for all the posts.
I am having a super busy week.
Yesterday i did 50 AB crunches,5 miles on the bike and work was somewhat busy.
i couldnt use pedometer cuz hubby forgot when he set it to set the stride in so he has to do that and he has been busy too so hopefully tonight it will get done.
went to library after work, then watched a lifetime movie"hunger point" which i ve been waiting for but was terribly dissappointed in.
eating has been good too.
this morning i rode 5 miles on bike, did 50 AB crunches, and used the weights.
so the exercise has been good and consistent.
i havent peeked at the scale yet and ma trying not too but i might this morning anyways. i hope its going downwards.
making stuffed peppers for dinner tonight and will be looking forward to it all day.
we have a new guy starting at work today so hopefully he will work out cuz we need the help.
well im going for now to read some journals.
sorry if im behind. tommorow morning my son has a dentist appt. then after work daughter has a skills competiton for basketball so i will be a busy minnie.
take care and have a great day and thanks for all the great support you all give.
Hey Minnie,
You are getting that exercise in,,,good for you! You go Girl!!!! I'm terrible where the scales is concern. I'm always jumping on them to see if I've gained any pounds back, if I didn't exercise or maybe eat more then I think I should. But girlfriend, you are doing G-R-E-A-T!! You have that control & determination it takes! YESSSSS!!! You are going to succeed with your goals,,,No doubt about it!!!
Minnie thanks for suggestion this pedo. I just love mine! I only am using it when I am cleaning the schools though and like you I keep bumping the darn thing.......grrrrrr.
But hopefully I will learn not to soon :)
In about 2 hours last night I got in about 4, 000 steps at the one school I clean, then I kept bumping it and gave up.
You sure are a busy minnie lol
Take some minnie time too my friend!
Jade
mcmarto 01-14-03, 07:25 PM Busy...Busy...Busy!
But doing well on plan!
Keep up the good work!

Lizzie B 01-14-03, 08:25 PM HI Sandy,
Finally out and about and wanted to say hi!! Looks like you will be busy always!! I laughed the other night my DH and I were doing our usual " well I have to keep moving." My son said I don't know why you don't just sit if you want. I can't wait until someone tells me to just go ahead and rest I will do what ever for you. Gee I remember my folks doing the same thing when I was younger. Well my son is 37 and never stops moving!! Funny how times change!! Hahaha Hey have a good night and I hope the new guy works out!!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie
{{{{{{SANDY}}}}} I just got back from the store, so now I really feel totally ready to get back on track again. So far today I've done pretty good and managed to stay within my points.
I saw that movie Hunger Point last night and I wasn't to impressed with it either. I guess I thought it would be something different.
You know what I don't think is right. Whenever you see a movie about a person with an eating disorder, they always show the side of a person with anoxeria or blumia. Networks are totally ignorning the other side. People who are obsese and have an eating disorder because they eat to much food. What do you think of this? I think it would be really interesting to see an eating disorder story but with an obese person.
Well I need to finish looking at some posts here, and then get started with dinner.
TAKE CARE - KATHERINE
Minnie mouse 01-14-03, 11:25 PM Hello everyone~~
thanks for all the posts and katherine i totally agree that i would love to see a show on tv with the flip side of the coin of people with eating disorders that overeat as it is a disease as well as anorexia and bulimia.
actually overeaters are more in common with bulimics cuz we do the same with binge eating the only difference is we dont throw it up so we gain weight but same disease to me.
well the stuffed peppers for dinner were so good. i havent eaten anything since as im still stuffed just like the peppers. LOL
had a good day.
they cancelled sons dentist appt for tommorow as the dentist wont be there and set it for next wed. im starting to get PO'd with this dentist and soon i will be taking him somewhere else if it continues. last appt he had i wasted an hour there before work only to find out they had an emergency and it would be awhile for my son to be seen and i had work so i had to leave to take him to school and he didnt have anything done.
ok enough venting.....
but enough is enough with this already.
well the new guy at work is ok,. i dont know yet if he will work out or not.
he doesnt seem to enthused but he was nice anyways and to our good friend and co worker whose last day was today it was a sad departure. we hugged goodbye and eyes were tear filled.
i get so emotional. hes a young guy of 22 and bK was his only job so hes scared of a new one but it will be better for him and more money. he will come to visit us but it wont be the same. you get so used to working with certain people every day.
well im going for now and will talk to you all later.
Good-night! and sleep tight my friends.
Minnie:
I agree it's hard to see a co-worker go even though you know he will be better off in his new job. I am looking forward to my new position but also a bit scared as I am so comfortable in the job I have. However the thought of Days is what I am really looking forward to:)
Have a great day Minnie.
Judy2:dn
Minnie mouse 01-15-03, 09:53 AM Good morning ~~
well got my exercise out of the way. i rode 6 miles on the bike, did 50 AB crunches and 25 crunches using elbow to knee(that was hard)
I have my menu planned out for the day.
you know i always loved chicken wings so now when i crave it which i have been i make reg. chicken drumsticks(no skin) and i bake them in the oven with hot sauce on them. hubby and kids love it too and theres not all the fat of the skin and deep frying in oil. (just a tip for anyone who likes wings like i do) and it tastes good too.(you can use blue cheese also if you want to dip)
well busy day ahead. me and hubby havent gotten much time to be alone so we sorta set a date for tonight to be alone awhile. after my girls basketball competition tonight we have time alone scheduled. its sad to have to schedule it like an appt. but we are so busy.
kids are suppose to go to there dads on sat. night.
so that will give us some time to get refreshed and spend time together.
My sis is a nurse and called me upset last night. another nurse(and friend) she works with was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and it has spread to her lymph system which isnt good.
she had a hard time swallowing and had it checked out. she is only 30 and has a husband and 2 yr old little boy.
its so sad and my sis is so consumed over death cuz its atound her everyday in her work field. she works for hospice. i swear those nurses are angels.
it saddened me too.
and we talked about how we must live for today as tommorow may not come and treasure those we love and spend time together while were alive.
money doesnt matter. so many people are worried about working so many hours to get ahead and they may not even see it tommorow.
so new motto"live for today"
i am going to try hard to do that.
you are all a blessing to me and take care and enjoy your day.
Minnie,
Bless your heart sweetie! I'm sorry to hear about your friend(co-worker) leaving. I know he will be missed greatly! It is so hard to get use to working with others, I know. Maybe you and the newcomer will become great friends! That is so sad about your sisters friends and she's so young. She will be in my prayers...You are so right about how everyone works, it seems, to stay ahead and really missing out on what's really important. I tell my hubby this often, he's one of those workaholics. I know he can take time off some weekends just to relax and enjoy life, but he rarely does. He took this past weekend off, the first since July of last year.
Girl, you are getting in that exercise! You are doing great there! I like a long way to catch up with you, Judy & Lindasue. I did 75 minutes yesterday, but some days my tired bones won't let me do that much. But I'm gonna catch ya one day.hahaha
You go girl!!!!!!!:dn :dn
maximum 01-15-03, 11:37 AM Hey Minn, Gosh I can relate to the Dentist.. I swear they all have emergencys..... You know what they are? They didn't get the ball in the hole at the golf course!:D
I sadly can also relate to a co-worker and friend passing away last year of cancer. He was 40. And I set him up with my BESTEST friend. Makes me sad thinkin about it again. Damned Cancer! That same friend told me the other day, that towards the end He looked so differant but was still the same inside. It has made her look at people differantly. No matter how thin or fat or differant we are its who's inside the shell that counts.
On a lighter note...... 6 MILES on the bike??? Your Tushy must be getting a workout....BUNS O STEEL..... Good for you!
Hope you and Hubby have a wonderful fullfilling time together...
Hi Sandy, I was thinking about you, and I just wanted to stop in and say hi... Sandy I do not want to whine. and cry but I lost my job yesterday, I got fired, what eles can happen, it is a long story, let me say this right now I did not do anything illigal or anything but I did something that they just do not allow, and it was personal too. (no I was not in the stock room with anyone)
any hoot I am just so down and all I can think about is food, and the fact that I just want to eat, eat, and eat. and forget the fact that I am alive...
Sandy I am sorry I am writting this in your thread but I just wanted to come here before I went in the kitchen.
I am going to commit that for the rest of the nite I am not going to eat anything that I should not eat and tomorrow when I get up, I am going to have a positive attutide
Thanks for being there
Minnie mouse 01-15-03, 08:42 PM Hello everyone~~

ok had good day today. did great food wise and exercise. water needs to be imroved.
went to my girls skills competition for basketball and she did really well.
waiting for hubby to get home. hope its not to late or our alone time will be postponed as im getting tired.
had chicken for dinner(yes with hot sauce) and broccoli and garlic shells.
lunch was an applesauce and sugar free jello and breakfast was cream of wheat(peaches flavor)
i know i did the days menu in reverse and dont know why but probably due to being tired.
my snack for tonight will be 2 oranges.(gotta get more fruit in)
My son whose only 9 has been cursing lately. i dont know what to do with him. keep seeing more and more of his dad in him and am not liking it at all. i have punished him with going to bed early,no tv,no comopute,no privleges and so on for not behaving and it doesnt help. im at my witts end and if it continues i told him he will be going into counseling of some kind cuz its driving me nuts to have little control over a 9 yr old. the girls never gave me so much trouble but they also lived with me there whole lives and he hasnt and he had different rules and so on when he was with his dad but he did live with me for 5 yrs and all summer each summer for 3 yrs and hes been back living with me for 7 months now so i dont understand,.
i do everything for this kid. am here for him 24/7. have him in scouts in which i am the secretary, i go to all his school functions and help with homework and have taken him skating and to movies, out to eat and you name it and he has no appreciation or respect for me or my husband and im getting fed up so i told him till he improves no prileges like parties and if by the time football rolls around hes still this way he cannot join(he really wants to) i have always babied him and now im getting tough but its unfair to the girls too cuz he breaks there things and just doesnt listen, now hes swearing.
i am trying hard to be patient but its like hes punishing me for some unknown reason. we talked and hes happy to be with me and shows me lots of love but other days hes mean to me too.
like throwing snowballs at me or screaming in my face.
im sorry for whining but this gotta be the toughest job there is.
i want to enjoy him not spend every day yelling at him.
hopefully it will change with consistent punishment,. maybe he will get sick of not being allowed to do things.
well hope you all have a good night.
take care.
Laura Little 01-15-03, 09:03 PM OH MINNIE THE JOYS OF CHILDREN...:(
IS HE THE OLDEST OR THE MIDDLE CHILD? MAYBE HE'S JUST LOOKING FOR ADDED ATTENTION. GOING THROUGH A SPELL PROBABLY IS ALL. I HAVE 3 TEENAGERS AND NOT ONE IS LIKE THE OTHER..I DO TEND TO FIND THAT MY MIDDLE ONE(WHICH IS A BOY ) TENDS TO TRY TO PULL MY ATTENTION MORE TO HIM BY TRYING TO ANNOY ME..:(
HOPE YOU GOT SOME ALONE TIME WITH HUBBY. WE ARE GOING TO GET OUR FIRST SNOW STORM TONIGHT AND I AM NOT READY!!
HAVE A GOOD NIGHT
LAURA
Minnie mouse 01-15-03, 09:37 PM Thanks Laura but he is in fact the youngest child and the only boy but for me i how its just a phase for him, one he will outgrow real soon cuz i will not tolerate lack of repsect to adults.
especially parents like me and my hubby who bend over backwards to please him.
i was taught growing up to have respect and manners and i want ,my own children to have the same values and no matter what i need to do i will so that they grow up to be good adults in this world.
it makes me mad and sad at the same time to see him acting so bold. its not just bold now and then, its an all day event from morning till night.
and it really wears me out.
i pray for things to get better with him. i longed so much for him to be back living with me but didnt think he would be this bad and our family has a routine in which hes had ample time to adjust too. he just is selfish and wants things his own way and doesnt care whose feelings get hurt.
i would like for him to show feelings when he hurts someones feelings.
he will say hes sorry and then go right back to misbehaving so i dont get it.
well gotta go for now. hubby still isnt home so it looks like our "planned date" will be postponed as im tired and ready for PJ'S.
jukie1028 01-15-03, 09:44 PM HI Minnie,
See if you can't schedule a meeting with his teacher and see what's going on. Maybe new kids in class are influencing him in ways you'd rather they not. My six year old nephew came home cussing almost on the first day of school and my sister raged and raged until the teacher listened.
And Laura is right, he could be jealous of his sisters a little, but I sure can't see how you could make him snap out of that, you do so much already.
Hope you have a great evening with your husband, so stay awake so you can!!
Sandy,
Thanks for you visits to my journal. I really appreciate it. Very encouraging.
You are doing just great and it is good to 'crack down' on the kids when they start acting out instead of waiting to long to teach them.
Interesting thing is that my son was also 9 when he started trying to 'push his weight around' more with me and the girls. Had to make sure he knew from the start that it wasn't acceptable. But also understood it was part of growing up.
You asked in my journal about getting your picture in yours. I will try to tell you how I did it. I have windows XP.
What I do is go to your UserCP, then to Options. scroll down 'Change Avatar, then to where it asks you if you are using your own avatar, click in the circle. then choose Browse, it should take you to your picture file, where you have all your pictures stored.
Now DT will tell you what size the picture needs to be. I took mine from a family picture, my parents, sisters and hubbies and grandkids.
If I right click on a picture in my file a box pops up with different choices. I choose 'Edit'. this takes me to another page. Here I choose the bos near the top that makes a box around the area I want. then I slide it up to the left top corner.
Next I go down to the original bottom right corner til my cursor shows an arrow on an angle. I use this to close in the box next to the picture I made smaller. Then I 'save' the new picture.
Then I go back to my picture file, high light the new picture, click on open, then click in each of the boxes that pop up. Dt will tell you if your picture is too big.
Hope this helps and is not too confusing. This is of course if you have to edit your picture, like it is too big or something.
mcmarto 01-16-03, 01:09 AM Keep up the good work!...You are doing so well!
Hope your "alone" time was nice!...
mcmarto
Minnie mouse 01-16-03, 10:16 AM Good morning~~
thanks everyone and Nancy i do have one more question. how do i save my picure on here or get it on here. do i need a scanner or something,. i am totally lost with all of this.
just learning to do different things on here.
well hubby got home late and we postponed our date night but we did spend some nice time together this morning and hope to later tonight. after dinner i got to go get my daughters friend a birthday gift cuz tommorow night her friend is having a slumber party with a bunch of 13 yr old girls till sat. afternoon.
this morning i used my weights and i did 50 AB crunches and 20 (knee to elbow) crunches. boy i can feel it in my tummy area like im suppose to. i am a little sore but i can see a difference in my tummy too and so has my hubby.
i still need to ride the bike too before work.
I did give in last night to the last stuffed pepper in the fridge. i felt hungry and also stressed and so i ate it but its done with and ive been doing really well so i will not be too hard on myself.
gonna have my oatmeal soon and my usual (hold me over lunch) of applesauce and sugar free jello and for dinner i think i may have a smart one from ww cuz tommorow i weigh.
as for my son i agree some kids in school may cause influence but hes been like this from before the school yr started only now its gotten worse.
also i do bleieve he has jealousy toward the girls cuz i saw on his dresser carved in it "I hate Alissa" which is my middle girl. either he did it when he was mad at her or he feels this way but i saw it after the bus left so i will talk to him about it. but the cursing will stop.
and slamming doors and punching the wall and the dirty looks i get and his screaming in my face like im a nothing to him.
he misbehaved at my girls basketball competiton last night and he usually does during practices but it was bad. he was under the bleachers and kept taking off to the bathroom and talking back so hubby says for sat. game he cannot go and will stay home with hubby until he can behave at the games he cannot go to them.
ok enough venting as this is all causing me stress i dont need and a knot in my stomach.
i'll talk to you all later and have a good day.
tmayder 01-16-03, 11:01 AM Hey Sandy,
Great job with those exercises, girl!!
I don't have any experience with boys, I just had daughters. We had similar issues in our house too, but I am not sure what differences there would be. After a while I learned that prolonged periods of bad behavior always pointed to one thing... problems with their dad. My girls would give me hell when their dad was not paying enough attention to them, particularly when he started another family. They liked the new family, but they needed to feel that reassurance that they still mattered too. Does your ex and wife have children or step children?
In the case of my daughters, the only thing that would quiet them down a bit was one on one quality time with their father, and most of the time getting him to do that was like pulling teeth. Unfortunately, the parent that the child lives with is the one to catch the anger (acting out). I don't know if this is the case with your son, but that's my experience. Would your ex be willing to take the boy out somewhere for a few hours, just the two of them? It might be worth a try.
Hang tight, my friend!
linda
Hi minnie,
Yes you will have to scan in a picture of yourself onto your computer. You should have somewhere to store it or just make a new file.
Then you can refer to that file when you go to your 'edit options' to make your new avatar and then do 'Browse' to get it out of the file into DT.
You are doing just great with your food and exercise, way to go.
I also found that my son was easier to get along with ifhe had enough physical exercise. Another mom I know finds the same thing.
chumlette 01-16-03, 11:49 AM Poor Mother Minn. Well, it seems like it is gonna be quite a ride on the Teenager Train for you. Don't envy you. At most, my small cat pees on the rug. I am lucky.
You are doing so well with your exercises! I am really proud of you Minn for sticking with it. And one stuffed pepper won't push you over the edge. Just keep your focus, girl. You can do it!
{{{{{SANDIE}}}}}} I'm getting so far behind in the journals here. I do apoligize for that. This morning I'm making an effort t get caught up again.
I agree it would be neat to see your picture here. That way we all can see the face behind the words. I'm just amazed when I see everyone's picture here. Sometimes I think to myself Wow I never would of pictured them like that. Or when you talk to somebody on the phone before actually meeting. A lot of times I like to form a picture based on there voice, but it turns out to be all wrong.
Your doing so amazing with your workouts. I'm really proud of your success. Do you work on your abs everyday?
That's ok about eatign the stuffed pepper. I mean it's not like it was some kind of desert. Stuffed peppers pretty healthy for you.
I'm really sorry to hear that your son's been having difficulties. I wish I could give you some advice, but I don't have any kids. Hopefully he'll straigthen out and fly right.
have a great day! Katherine
mcmarto 01-16-03, 07:12 PM Glad you are still doing well...minus the teen troubles!
The days will get better soon!...mcmarto
Minnie,
I'm so sorry to hear about the problem with son you are experiencing. Sometimes we just wish at times like this someone could just give us the right answer or solution to work things like this out. And I wish I had the answer for you! I would certainly send it your way to help you be less stressful. I hope the stress gets easier very soon! Stay encouraged!!! I noticed in the middle of this stressful time for you, you have been determined on your exercise and weight loss journey. That is GREAT!!! Hope you and hubby gets that needed date s-o-o-n!!!
~Have a brighter day tomorrow Minnie, dear:rose:

We childless ones are awfully insightful.

Minnie mouse 01-17-03, 10:28 AM Good morning~~
well i am so happy this morning to say i lost 2 pounds this week and i am 38 pounds down now and doing the happy dance for sure that all this exercise is paying off as the scale is going down.
:dn :dn
well last night my girls went to a roller skating party with the school and i didnt let my son go. i took him with me to leave them off and expained why he wasnt going. and let me tell you that the rains from heaven came pouring down and he pleaded and begged and i stuck to my guns and said no.
of course he was mad and was going to call his dad to go with him, runaway, and all that junk you say when your really mad.
he kicked my car and called me" a mean old lady"
(real old im only 31)
and then came home and ignored me. but it made him think.
later on he cried more and apologized and said he will start fresh and try hard to behave. i told him he has 1 month to improve or he will have to go to counseling to talk to someone to see what bothering him.
i also told him if he does behave he will have privledges again and can pick one night a week to stay up a little later to watch a movie he picks.
he was wonderful this morning so lets see how it goes.
i know he can do this. and his dad may be an issue here.
he hasnt seen the kids since x-mas(maybe tommorow night he iwll be)
and hasnt called them in almost 2 weeks(he usually does)
he doesnt have kids with his new wife but does have 2 step-sons that live there so im sure theres jealousy and competition and i wonder if that is why hes acting out.
my middle girl used to have problems due to her dad but over time she got better.
i felt so bad not letting him skate cuz he loves to so much but i knew by saying no it would hurt him and make him think about his actions. like the girls behave so they got to go.
well this morning i rode 6 miles on bike while doing 3 lb. arm weights.
i also did 40 AB crunches(and to Katherine, i do the crunches at least 5-6 days a week, more if i can. cuz this is a problem area for me that needs major toning)
and were going to have subway tonight for dinner.
and my one girl wil lbe going to the sleepover birthday.
tommorow my girl Alissa has basketball game in the afternoon( hope they win cuz they havent yet)
and then basketball pictures at 4.
and i gotta buy groceries so gotta fit that in somewhere.
and will make sure to exercise this weekend too.
im going for now.
have a great friday and thanks for all the posts and all your help.
chumlette 01-17-03, 10:32 AM Yippee!!!!! Yahoo!!!!! You are on a losin' streak now, Minnie!
Go! Go! Go!!!
:whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:
mickeyvoll 01-17-03, 11:07 AM Hey Minnie!
Congratulations on the further 2lb loss - that really is fantastic. What makes it even more fantastic is that you have maintained your diet and exercise through a very stressful week. I hope you are proud of yourself!
I hope your son has turned a corner. He should do - you sound like a great mum.
Minnie;
Way to go girl. I am so very happy for you. Your right back in the groove again and the rewards are happening big time for you:D
Have a wonderfull weekend.

Geez Sandy your life is a chapter out of my book.. but I am gald you stuck with it. I just wish I could stick to it when I punish my oldest. heck I am having a hard time with my youngest but she is 4 and my oldest is 9 ... but Gina (my oldest) is getting better, it is me who does not stick to punishments and such. She knows Mom will cave, it.. and she has said to me countless times. your mean Mom just plain Mean, So I come back and say Yup, I have a right to be I am older now.. ha ha ha ha. but she knows I am right when I say no to something and you know kids they will for get about it in a day or two...
Way to go on the 2 pounds. :cheer: keep up the good work.
have a great weekend, and I hope your daughter win her game
mcmarto 01-17-03, 08:36 PM Have a great weekend girl!
How are the steps coming along...I read in a magazine that to lose 1/2 a pound to 1 pound a week (with walking alone)...you have to average 16,000 steps a day!...
This is now my goal!...Oh...I forgot to test mine out...I wanted to test it while walking on my treadmill to see if the miles were similar!
Maybe tomorrow!
mcmarto
Bettyboop 01-17-03, 08:45 PM Way to go Minnie Mouse! Not only on the weight loss but on being a good parent!!! Tough love is the hardest thing to do but it teaches your kids. They need discipline to learn and grow. Doesn't make it any easier though in the meantime so  good for you sticking to your guns!
Time to reward you now! :D Have fun!
jukie1028 01-17-03, 10:12 PM Hi Minnie Mouse!
Good for you for taking a stand with your son. Definitely the perfect thing to do, and I know you let him know that you love him even though he can't participate. He'll learn how to behave better, and you will all have much more fun together.
Have a super evening Minnie, you make my heart smile when I read your journal. :)

mdonna612 01-18-03, 10:01 AM Minnie

:balloons: CONGRAULATIONS ON THE WEIGHT LOSE!!! 2 pounds down is remarkable. I can just feel it next week your going to hit the 40 pound mark.
good for you for putting your foot down were you son was concerned.
Thanks for answering my question about how often you do crunches. I can't wait to start doing crunches again. But my ribs are really sore right now, from all my coughing, so it's proberly going to be a while.
My sister loves going to subway. I've been there a couple times. What's your favorite kind of sandwich. I like turkey with mustrad, lettuce, and pickles. but i perfer to make my own sandwiches at home. That way I can be totally sure on the points.
Have a great weekend! Katherine
Minnie you have had much advice on situation with your son, so I will make my .2 cents short lol TOUGH LOVE my friend and you are doing wonderful at it - so do not doubt yourself :)
Not sure if your area has one, but there is an actual support group called Tough Love for parents.

Have a good day if you can, stay warm!
Minnie mouse 01-19-03, 08:05 PM Hello everyone~~
It is great to come back here and see that i am missed even if only for the weekend.
well friday was a busy day at work then came home and we got subway.
saturday i had to go for groceries and to my daughters basketball game. they lost again and so far havent won any but they palyed real good. for alot of the kids its there first yr playing so after the game i took her to Mcdonalds and she got a sundae and i got a lowfat ice cream cone. it made her happy.
then i went and picked up my other girl from the sleepover.
she had fun.
came home and cleaned and oh i did forget to mention i exercised in the morning.
i did 40 crunches, used weights while on bike and rode 10 miles on the bike listening to music. :D
then me and hubby went to meet ex to leave kids off and of course hes never on time.
then we went out for dinner and we both had lasagna and garlic bread and i had a tossed salad too.(not too bad)
we spent some time alone which we needed.
today(sunday) i skipped exercise since ive been doing it 2 weeks straight i need to give my legs a break so tommorow will be back on schedule.
me and hubby went shopping big time today.
he got 2 new pairs of jeans and coveralls to wear when he works outside or on the cars.
my son got 4 new pairs of jeans(he grew alot and needed new ones)
he also got a pack of boxers.
my daughters got new bra and undie sets.(there so cute)
and me i got 2 new pairs of sneakers, work shoes(feet have been aching from concrete floors)
i got 5 new sport bras, underwear(smaller size yeah)
and i got a new lipstick and blush, socks
but while we were there the store announced for everyone to stay calm and go outside so we did and it was on fire. a small firs started from a light that blew or something. so all these firetrucks and ambulances came and after awhile we went back in and found our carts. i said it never fails when i go somewhere for something to happen.
hubby wanted work boots but didnt see any he liked so he got to look around more.
i also got a new purse. i carry a purse everywhere and need a big one cuz i carry alot of stuff in it and my mom got me a purse for x-mas but its nice but to small for me.
ok so then we went to visit my hubbys one sister sharon(she gave us our x-mas gifts of free movie tickets and coupons for snacks for all of us) she does that every year and we love it.
then we went to pick the kids up.
my ex just got the kids last night around 7 and was calling this morning for me to get them cuz he had a football game on and i wasnt home so he was on my answering machine.
he hasnt seen them since x-mas. think hed keep them longer to see them. hes such an *****hole.
well i forgot to say my girl had her pictures done on sat. after her game. we got a package deal but pictures wont be in for awhile. i chose a pack where i get a 5x7 of her holding the basketball and a memory mate where her picture is in an oval frame and belwo it is a team photo(shes sitting right near the coach too)
and i get a magnet with her on it and 4 wallets and 8 digital trading cards with her name and ht and wt and all.
well bad news we got is hubbys sister Betty lou just found out she has cancer.
its colon cancer. i guess there going to operate and i hope she will be ok. right now she wont talk to anyone.
well that is about it and i missed you all too.
tonight we watched the Eagles football game.sadly they lost and wont be in the superbowl. they are our team.
and we ordered hoagies.
i did eat a bit more this weekend but still doing good and did exercise. now tommorow back on plan.
i got groceries and alot of good foods and healthy snacks too.
i got a few healthy choice meals for in a pinch too they were on sale.
i got yogurt and soy yogurt for a change too.
tommorow kids dont have school so i will be home too.
well have a good night and take care. thanks for all the posts, encouragement and great motivation you all give me.
Hey girl sounds like you did have a busy weekend...
Sorry that your they lost.. the foot ball team and your daughtes team. I know my Hockey team I follow is not doing good. We have a AHL hockey team that are Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL) farm team, they are called the Syracuse Crunch, they did so great last year and this year they are not... they have lost like 25 games so far this year. not good I just hope they go to the play offs like last year..
Well I did something postive today Sandy, I joined E Diets. I mean I liked the food plan and the personaliaziong of it all, it seemed like I can follow it. So.. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Well seeing the girls will be home tomorrow, I am going to just take it easy and Come tuesday I am going to be out there looking for a job.. Wish me luck
Hope you have a great week. Keep up the good work
jukie1028 01-19-03, 10:04 PM Hey Minnie -
Sounds like you have a really good weekend, it's nice sometimes to be busy and accomplish things that make everyone happy.
Hope you have a great day tomorrow, I'm jealous because you get to be home. I don't want to go to work!!

You are doing wonderful on the workouts!!Keep it up girl.
Have a great week, Your doing wonderful!
Laura
No wonder you haven't posted for a couple of days. You have been super busy. I start my new job today but got a call and I don't have to go in until 11 am. What a change for me this is going to be. It's super cold here and I am sure they will have me out until dark but that's ok as I will still get home by 6pm.
Bet it felt great to buy undies in a smaller size. Way to go you doing so well. I got the winsor pilates tapes to do and they are a lot harder than what they look.
Hope you have a great day.

Minnie mouse 01-20-03, 11:26 AM Hello~~
well even on my day off i dont sleep in. i tried but couldnt fall back to sleep.
so far i have washed 2 loads of laundry, and did a ton of dishes.
i am going to straighten up the rest of the house too.
i had oatmeal this morning(Raisin & Spice)
i rode 10 miles on bike and did 40 AB crunches too.
i can ride more miles on days i dont have work and am not rushed. but on days i work 5-6 miles is good for me.
hubby hooked me in a headphone set to the stereo so i can listen to music while on the bike and not disturb everyone else. cuz if im listening to music i tend to ride further and it makes it more fun.
well i have alot planned out to get done here today so im going for now.
have a great day everyone and take care.
MadMarnDZ 01-20-03, 11:30 AM Hi Minnie!
There you are was worried about you. Boy, you sure are exercising like a fiend aren't you. That is great. I'm looking into getting a stationary bike too. I'm getting tired of stair stepping every day. :D
I'm right there with you on not sleeping in. The weekend I couldn't either but I did get the laundry caught up for now anyways. Well have a great week and take care! :D
mcmarto 01-20-03, 12:35 PM Hey Minnie!
Girl you are so busy!...and...you continue to do so well!
Keep up the good work!
mcmarto
mickeyvoll 01-20-03, 12:52 PM Hi Minnie
I'm pleased to read that all is well at your house!
You are pretty much up to the level you were before Christmas now, with all the exercise - 10 miles a few days a week is a great feat, particularly when you are combining that with other days of 5/6 miles.
At this rate you'll be at goal in no time at all!!!!
mdonna612 01-20-03, 03:14 PM Minnie
Sounds like you have recommitted to the program. Missed you guys most of Dec and Jan. And my program without using diettalk to plan out my possible eating plan for the day had gone to pot so back to straight and narrow and everyone's good cheer and support.
Phillip has gotten his top braces and gets his lower braces tomorrow. I am working those 12 hr on the weekends and have a nursing meeting tomorrow. Today is gonna be a play day----only slept 3 hr yesterday and just dragging today.
Finished the dog training program and am still going to gym 3-4 times a week. Just haven't been working on my food program so am sure I'm back to last years weight.
Still running non-stop, but not today. I slept in late and took Phil to the dentist and got a chile at Wendy's for lunch. But am wanting to snack so thought I'd pop in and find some support here on DT.
Gotta find my journal.

wed. morning son has dentist appt. they better nopt cancel again. at noight son has a trip to police station with scouts. there getting fingerprinted and a tour. hubby will need to take him cuz my girl has basketball practice the same time so i cant be 2 places at once.
but rest of the week doesnt look to hectic~~yet????
drinking alot of water today too.
may ride more on bike but dont know. im starting to get tired.
and i did take a nap today too cuz i felt tired.
well im going for now. take care and have a good night/
tommorow going to use my pedometer now that hubby got the stride set on it.
i know why now that i was measuring so many steps was for the stride in inches he used my height in inches which is 60 inches and stride should have been 30 so he doubled my steps.
so will start over with it tommorow.
jukie1028 01-20-03, 10:01 PM Hey Minnie -
Sounds like you're busy as always! You also sound happy even if you are a bit tired. If you're not riding your bike can you send it to me for the evening, I could ride it for a little while. I'll be real careful with it, I promise!
;)
mini me mary 01-21-03, 12:45 AM Looks like you're right on target Minnie. You are doing a super de dooper job at everything. Congrats for keeping it all together, body, mind, and soal. Keep up the good work.

Bettyboop 01-21-03, 01:24 AM Hey Minnie sounds like you are doing good! That's great! I wish I could say the same today but I guess we all have to have off days to appreciate the on ones.. I've been looking here for inspiration to get off my duff.. I've cleaned my house today and sweated a lot doing that but no formal walking I guess today the housecleaning and moving things into storage will have to count for my excercise as now it's after 9pm and I don't see me picking up any weights. I just got out of the bath and at least I'm not angry anymore:tomato: just a bit blue.. I had a big big letdown from a good friend today and so that bites. I've just come to realize that saying and doing are two very different things.... well hope your day is beautiful tomorrow and here's to us having all the energy we need tomorrow to get the stuff done we should!
Minnie mouse 01-21-03, 09:50 AM Hello and thanks for the posts.
i am rushing around this morning once again. it is back to work today for me. i hope the new shoes help my feet on the concrete floor. usually they are sore but friday was the worst they ever have been.
i have the pedometer on today and i used the weights and did 40 crunches. still gotta hop on the bike before work.
washed 2 loads of laundry and made the beds.
gotta put basket of clothes away, eat, get dressed,do dishes and go to bank and post office to before work so i cant stay on here this morning.
Hope everyone has a great day and talk to you later.
chumlette 01-21-03, 11:42 AM Wahoo Minnie! You go, girl. You are exercising and exercising and exercising. Your life is one big whirlwind of activities. You burn calories just doing your daily stuff, Minn, let alone including your formal exercise! I am really proud of you.
Hope the new shoes help!
{{{{{SANDY}}}}} How was your day off yesterday? did your kids have the day off from school because of the holiday? I almost forgot yesterday was a holiday. I kept looking out for the mail, but it never came.
I use to watch fear factor. This one guy who I use to work with told me about it. I sometimes watch it now it all depends on the eposide of 7th Heaven.
have a great day and take care ~ Katherine
mdonna612 01-21-03, 02:13 PM Comes with the territory of motherhood, running to catch up. Need to leave in 15 min to get Phillip from school so he can get his bottom braces today.
Day was stressful at work----ck out my journal for the saga of woe. Guess work never changes only the specifics on the complaints. She keeps talking about how we are going to have 4 nurses but won't be wapped -----told to stay home since we are overstaffed. I just don't believe her. She wapped out 300 hr over the holidays she said. But I will wait and see.
No time for details but sounds like you are recommitted and determined. Logging your triumphs gives you credit for what you do and so often we beat ourselves up over what we don't do.
Gotta run,
Donna:wave:
maximum 01-21-03, 02:49 PM So speaking of Fear Factor..... Not only was what they were eating NEEASSTY.... but who could consume that much mass. Thats a lot of filth to ingest. or digest or whatever you call it. Blah! I could NEVER do it.
Hope you can get some down time cheeka! And hope your Tootsie feel ok....
