It is the 3rd day of the new year. I had hoped to have started a fresh start with everything on Wednesday, but am having back problems, and am having a very hard time just walking around the house. So I am taking everything very slowly. I walked about half a block this morning. Walked really slow, (snails were passing me laughing!!) I have been doing so so with my eating. Not over eating, but not eating the right stuff. I will get on track here pretty quick.

You will get back on track we all lost our minds durning the holidays...EEK!!! Anyway we will get it back on track soon We need a new way to celabrate holidays that gives up something to work on this year. And look how far you have come you have lost 90 pounds hear me 90 POUNDS that is wonderful yes you still have 145 to go to get to goal but why don't you check out the Snow Angel challenge I think you would really like it. I challenged myself to lose 20 pounds by April 30 2003 I think. And in The FoodMover Forum I challenged myself to lose 40 by June 1 .2003 I just have to work at it. Hope to see you one one of the challenges. Ruthieb

Hi, Pookie... We've met in the exercise chats. When I saw you started a new journal I thought I'd stop in for a visit! :)

So sorry you are having problems with your back. Take it easy on exercise until you feel up to it. The whole "New Year" thing is great for motivation, but you don't want to aggravate your injury and make it worse... then you really will be sidelined. It's hard to wait it out, I know! Hang on!

Thanks so much for the support!!
Ruthie~ I will check out the 2 challenges you mentioned. As for the losing my mind......I lost that 15 years ago on October 22, 1987 at 2:38 pm. At least that's when it started. I lose a little more each year!!

Lisrey~ I remember you from the chats. I will take this weekend and work on it. It drives me crazy to only be able to walk slowly. But if I don't take it easy and work my way back to being healthy, I know it will only get worse.

I'm glad to see so many people in here with so much motivation!! It really makes me feel good and helps motivate me! Now if everything else would fall into place for me!!

I feel a little better today (back wise) I am not going to do too much today. Some chores, and alot of relaxation. I have been reading through a few of the forums this morning, and I have to say I am feeling pretty motivated:up: Now if I can get the rest of my life straightened out I will be a very happy camper. I hope everyone has a great or good day. I will be in and out through the day.

Today is a new week. The kids all went back to school today. :dn Now MY christmas vacation can start!!!! WOOHOO!! Unfortunately, I gained 1.5 pounds. But have a plan all worked out for exercise and eating. Will spend most of the day cleaning house, and I mean serious, hardcore cleaning. Am going grocery shopping in a few minutes. Starting tomorrow I am going to start putting my daily agenda down again. That seems to help me alot.

Yay for a fresh start! Something about the New Year really inspires us, doesn't it? I know I am more motivated than I've been in quite awhile. Hope your back is feeling better now.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed my day without kids!! I had a good day. I could have walked more, but I did get in a little bit of walking!! And I did the ol' park as far away from the grocery store as possible so you have to walk farther. So, I guess that counts. Going job hunting tomorrow, so that should be interesting.
Lisrey~ yes, my back is feeling better. My husband gave me one of his "special" back rubs ;) I always love those! The new year has got me more motivated too. Weird, huh? Hope you had a great day!

In spite of the fact that I didn't get to bed until 3 this morning, and feeling completely exhausted, I am in a pretty good mood. I am doing a little job hunting, and then going down to the park to walk. I feel so motivated!!!

It's the middle of the week already, and still having a good day. I walked for 42 minutes yesterday, did my 2.5 mile walk around the park. Found a couple of job possiblilities. Plan on walking again today as long as it isn't raining. Otherwise I will be stuck walking at home ( not my walking of choice) Not doing much else today. Some stuff around the house and that's it.

Great going with all the walking, Pookie! I sure envy you the beautiful weather you have there in AZ. I have a bunch of relatives in the Phoenix area, and we usually visit each spring. I am looking forward to getting away from the snow and ice here! Hope you have a :super: Friday & a better weekend!

Lisrey~ ty too! I am enjoying my walking so much! You know, Lake Havasu City is only 3 hours away from Phoenix. It would be neat to get to meet a fellow DT buddy!!

Thanks Betty. My son helped me with it. It is just a reworded version of Now I lay me down to sleep. I have lost quite bit of weight, but still have alot to go. When I start re-arranging my furniture, I"ll be wearing my back brace. Otherwise I will never hear the end of it from my kids and husband! Thanks so much for stopping by. I am always looking for new friends. What part of Washington are you in? I lived on Fort Lewis for 5 years as a teen.

I don't think anything can get much worse. In 4 days my landlord is going to court to have us evicted. We have no where else to go and she isn't willing to work with us anymore. We are so far behind on all our bills, I just don't know how we are going to be able to pull ourselves out of this. And to top it off, I spent 3 hours in the doctor's office, and found out that I broke my leg and have torn ligaments. I have to wear an air cast for 6 weeks. Can things get any worse???

Lisrey
01-16-03, 08:32 PM
Oh no! I am sending positive thoughts your way, hoping that your leg heals smoothly and that you find some resolution to your legal crisis. What did you do to break your leg?? Take care of yourself during this stressful time and feel free to vent here. We are here to listen & try to help!

Well, since my last posting, things have gotten worse. Both my cars got repossessed. So I am without vehicle. Which wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have this stupid broken leg!!!:hm: Have not heard back from my landlord yet. (Which makes everything worse) I am still going to try and go for a walk today. I just won't be able to go to my favorite place to do it. I gained 2 pounds this past week.:c( It just has not been a good weekend (or week) for me. It has got to get better.

Lisrey~ A couple of weeks ago, I went hiking in the desert mountains with my family and friends. And I had to slide down this rock at one point and when I landed, my ankle gave out and I landed on my shins. Didn't feel real bad, just hurt a little, so I kept going. But when my shin and ankle were grossly swollen and completely bruised 3 days later, I knew to get it checked out.

Will have at least a decent day today!:D I hope!

Lisrey

Well, I certainly DO hope you have a better day today -- sounds like you still have a good attitude! It is so tough to be without a car. At least here it is -- I kinda live out in the middle of nowhere, and right now it is cooooold! :snow: Sounds like a fun hike except for that fall... and I'm glad you were able to hike out of there. Ouch.

Take care, Pookie, and try to keep a smile on your face. You're right, things can only get better.

Lisrey :)

Doing much better now! Finally got ahold of my landlord instead of her voicemail. She is willing to give us more time to come up with the rest of our rent. Going to borrow a friend's car so I can job hunt, and then Chris and I are going to car shop tomorrow night. So things are starting to look up for us. Knock on wood!

Lisrey~ Thanks so much for your kind words. It helps alot knowing that there people like you in here!

Pookie,
I'm a new one in your journal. I'm trying to get around to reading everyones here at diettalk. I noticed you started out full of motivation, then wham, things started going wrong. But I also noticed your determination no matter what, and the light you seem to be seeing at the end of the tunnel, through all your troubles...They reprocessed your cars, you found a solution, landlady was going to evict you,,you didn't give up, no, but found a solution, etc...Everywhere I read, through all your problems, I seen a woman with a determination that has what it takes to succeed! My prayers are going out to you that you will have better todays and tomorrows!!!

Thank you so much Linda. For visiting my journal and your inspiring words. I never think of myself like that. But thank you very much. Since my last posting, things have really turned around. I got a job working for the local cable company here. My husband works there as well and 90% of our close knit group of friends also work there. We also got things worked out with our landlord, so we aren't getting evicted.....yet! Now to get the car thing worked out. Things are going much better for me now. Once I get my schedule, I'll be able to really sit down and figure out a good walking plan and such! Hope you visit again!

Tomorrow is my first day at work. I will be working days while they train me and then I will move to nights. I am very nervous about this job.
I am so glad things are starting to look up for us. Even got a truck. We got that on Friday, but it is already having some issues, so tomorrow I need to take it down to the shop during lunch and have them fix it. That goodness there is a warrenty on it. Not much going on today. Clean house and relax. that is about it!

My week is started it out great! I started work yesterday. Started out part time nights at the beginning of the day......ended the day full time days. Did my weigh in....down 3 pounds! Ended up with a really nasty headache in the morning. Went home for lunch, took some aspirin. But by the time it finally started going away, (around 4) my oldest daughter called to tell me that my son wasn't home from school yet. He got out at 2:30. So the headache came back full force. Fortunately (UNfortunately for him) we found him. He decided to go to a friend's house after school and didn't bother to say anything to anyone. Not even a phone call home. So needless to say, he won't be going anywhere for a LONG time. But my overall day was a good one. Now if I can just not get so confused with the training. :o) Will probably walk home from work today, as I have to take my truck down to the shop right away this morning.

Congratulations on the three pounds! That's great news! It's wonderful that things are looking up for you again. :)

What kind of hours are you working? Did you stay home with that headache, or go back to work? Hope you're feeling better now!

Survived my first week of work. Even half of a SAturday. Gain 1.5 pounds this past week. :o( Got sick. Had fluid in my ear, and had to have it drained this morning. Came home sick yesterday, stayed home today to go to the doc. Going to work tomorrow even if it kills me.
