Hi everyone,

Not sure how to do this journal. How do you get your profile info to show up?

Anyhow, bought a scale and whew, was I disappointed, thought I weighed a good deal less than I do, so my first deal is gettin over that and gettin on with it!!!!!

Am doing real well with following my eating plan, exercise is still feeling like a punishment:( but I'll keep hanging in there, I know it will get better...think I'll stick with treadmill, 30 minutes 5-6 times weekly and alternating days with free weights, then add on aerobics after I'm more accustomed to the work out...

Well, will list my stats and goals here: current weight, 265, (and I've been dieting/exercising for a week and a half, so that good ole water weight is already gone...:( Anyway, my first mini goal is 25 pounds in 12 weeks, 4/10/03, and my final goal is 150 by ?????

Everyone has been so great thus far, that I know I have the support if I'll just take advantage of it and do my part...

Thanks Everybody....

Hi Annie,

Most important is water water water water water water. When you think you've had too much, drink more. It makes a huge difference towards burning calories and helping you to feel full.

Three weeks for the exercise to become a habit "they" say. I just started back again after the holidays and have two more to go to find out if it's true. Good luck to both of us!

Hi Aannie,

Wishing you the best of luck on your weight loss. I was about your weight when I started watching what I ate and started exercising in October.
It is not easy, but with determination and taking it one day at a time it can be done.
If you need anyone to talk to, just give me a yell. :)

Hello Annie and welcome.

For me when i first started the exercise was the worst since i wasnt used to doing any. it was hard and took much effort and did feel like a punishment.

now after being in routine with it i really enjoy doing it and when i skip it i miss it.
it will get easier in time but it is very important too.
i noticed i lose faster when i exercise regularly.
i use an exercise bike 5-6 days a week and i do weights 3 times a week and i count walking steps with a pedometer daily and do AB crunches almost daily.
i am looking to get a treadmill next.

and remember the water too.

talk to you soon and enjoy the weekend. you can do this! take one day at a time.

Glad you started a journal annie,, it helps to put down somewhere, maybe a paper journal or here, every morsel you put in your mouth.. that makes you think before you put it in , for one thing.. and helps you keep track of how you are doing food wise.

You can do it.. sounds like a reasonable goal.. come on girl.. get out those walking shoes...

Hey guys,

Hope lots of you will be in the chat tonight? It gives me a lot of motivation. My dieting plan is going well, but am still tweeking it to keep my daily/weekly goals at a level I can meet. I often try too hard too fast and binge, soooo....

Am eating around 1500 cals., give or take, have decided to combine 30 minutes of treadmill and a set of my free weight routine every other day for a beginning exercise program...had thought to do treadmill and aerobics alternating days, with weights 3x weekly for 5-6 days a week. I find that I am too fatigued to start with such a rigorous schedule...we'll see how the modified plan works...I have decided to weigh only once weekly...I will be have my first weigh-in this weekend (since my intial one), so everyone wish me well...I'll post the results so you guys can keep me accountable.

I began second sem. nursing classes this week. :nurse: Our first course material and clinical deals with psychiatric disorders. Very interesting and enlightening...

Well, hope this posts in my journal where it should...I'm still unsure of myself maneuvering correctly in this site.

Thanks for all your support in the journal replies as well as the chats, if I have a good weight loss this weekend, part of the success will be yours...

Good luck with your journey!

Noticed you were from VA....I too live there all my life until about 11 yrs ago when I moved to FL with hubby.

Have fun with the nursing classes. I work for a company that helps people with developmental disabilities...it is very interesting on a daily basis. Enjoy.

:D Hey everybody!

I'm really happy this am...check out the stats!

I've lost 4 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My weigh-in was encouraging, it had been a week and a half since I'd weighed, will now weigh-in weekly on Sun mornings. Keep me motivated on Sat! lol

I've been doing surprisingly well with my eating plan, still have to force the exercise...Am still tweeking my plan, current goals:

--Eat approx. 1500 +/- calories a day, (from all major food groups, limiting fats)
--Use treadmill 45 minutes every other day, (this is an increase from 30 min., but a decrease from attempting exercise daily, not ready for that YET!)
--Do the free-weight routine every-other-day, combines weights w/callistenics, seems to work for me. Currently 1 set of 8 of each exercise.

Some other things I'm doing that are increasing my awareness of my appearence and helping me maintain my healthier eating patterns:

I'm trying to choose outfits for the week and actually IRONING my clothing, makes me feel more put-together and decreases my morning angst in trying to get out the door on time...

Am freezing single servings of home-made foods, my son and husband won't eat the vegetable dishes I make! So more for me to freeze. I've eaten these two nights this week! A real time-saver...and they work nights so it's hard to cook for one.

Am eating breakfast, usually in my car on the way to school/work. Find that the little single serving bags of cereal are easiest for me to handle at that time of day. Also have bananas and/or yogurt sometimes.

Well, these seem to be the things that are working for me...My goal is 2 pounds a week and first mini-goal is 25 pounds in 12 weeks which will be 04/06/03!

Feel like I can make it! Thanks to everyone for all the help and encouragement, See you in the chats!:D

Hi Guys,

Well, I've had a good week, overate a little last Sunday but climbed right back 'on the wagon' and have........drum role please.....lost another 2.5 lbs.!!!!

My plan for the week is to continue exercising every other day, 45 minutes on the treadmill and approx. 15 minutes free weights. I'm gonna continue with this as long as it's effective. Will increase exercise slowly but have prob. maxed out with the 45 minutes treadmill, will have to get a little more creative.

Well, catch you guys in the chats, everybody keep up the good work....:dn

Hello,

id love to join a gym if i had the money and the time but since im lacking in both i just exercise at home.

dont fret ove the reading glasses, there are some nice stlyes now.
and at least you dont need to wear them all day or then you could get contacts like my daughter did.

i am suppose to wear glasses but i hate them so am looking into contacts too.

take care and enjoy the weekend.
