View Full Version : Back on track...
babyface 01-10-03, 09:37 PM Are you ready for me?;)
Hi, I'm Babyface and I have decided to give this journal thing another try.
A bit of history...I had lost 42 pounds (on W.W) last year and had managed to keep it off (without dieting) for a year. But the party is over. In the last month or so I have gained 8 pounds. This is a bit too much considering I didn't quite reach my goal in the first place.
So, this time I am not quitting until I reach my darn goal.
Which brings me back to Diettalk. I was debating whether or not to start another journal. I like reading other people's thoughts but I do find writing my thoughts down very difficult. I'm just not the "public" journal type of person. I guess no one really is, huh? I know, it's an acquired skill, right? Well, I honestly suck at it.
Anyhoo, like I said before, I am going to give this journal another try.
I will start on W.W again tomorrow.
My first goal is to lose 30 pounds by May 11th.
I need all the help (encouragement) that I can get. So will YOU help me? And please, be totally honest with me. Trust me, I can handle it.?;)\
Well, I must go now...goodnight everyone.
Minnie mouse 01-11-03, 10:24 AM Hello and welcome back. i too am on ww. i lost 46 pounds in 9 months and then gained 13.5 over the holidays and am now back on track and lost 3.5 this week and doing well.

babyface 01-11-03, 02:41 PM Hi there everyone!
I started my diet today. Must say that the day didn't start off too well. When I stepped on the scale this morning I was faced with the fact that I had not gained 8 pounds afterall but more like 9.5. Crap!! Oh well, more the reason not to cheat today [-X
Hey, before I go any further, I must say...
Minnie Mouse...congrats on YOUR weight lost. 3.5!! What a way to start!!! Great job! :cheer:
Julie... yes, I am indeed going to lose the weight this time.
Thanks for the encouraging words!:D
So far today, this is what I've eaten...
Breakfast
1/2 cup of egg substitute (2 pts), with 1 chopped small baked potatoe (2 pts), and black pepper
1 cup of coffee with 1 tbs. sugar (1 pt), and 1 tbs. creamer (1 pt)
Total points for breakfast is 6 points.
I spent my morning cleaning the house and doing laundry. I will spent the rest of the day hanging out with my children and hubby.
Later...
Babyface
babyface 01-11-03, 10:00 PM I have not started my exercises yet. One thing at a time. Right now I am trying to get back on track with my water. :water:
I forgot to mention before that I will begin to post my weight on Fridays.
Here is the continued list of foods I ate today...
LUNCH
chicken and rice soup (6pts)
baked tortilla chips with salsa (5 points)
DINNER
1 cup chicken Lo Mein (8 points)
Total points-25 points
This is all for tonight.
Later....
Babyface
Minnie mouse 01-14-03, 09:38 AM Your doing so good. concentate at one thing at a time and it will all fit into place.
the water comes easy for me cuz i always drank lots of it so im happy about that. the exercise was hard at first but i worked a routine with it and now its easier and i enjoy it now.
as for the food that is the hardest for me but taking one day at a time.
keep up the good work and take care.
babyface 01-18-03, 02:29 PM This week was VERY hectic for me. Not much time for myself.
But even though it was hectic, it still turned out to be a wonderful week.
I manage to stick to my W.W and stay within my daily points all week. I woke up on Thursday feeling so much more in control and so much more confident than I had been feeling in the last few months. I was feeling a bit depress there for a while. I am NOW even looking forward to the summer.
Well, I said I would post my weight on Fridays -so here goes...
I lost 3.5 pounds in 5 days :D From 159.5 I went down to 156.
I feel really good.
I have no idea why I picked Fridays as the day to post my weight.
Especially since I started my diet on a Sunday and not a Friday. Who knows what I was thinking of. In anycase, I think I want to change it to Sundays.
I am going to a babyshower today. Latin babyshowers (I'm Latin by the way) include lots and lots of food. I mean it's not just appetizers, it's more like a freaking buffet of all my favorite Latin dishes. So wish me luck. Hopefully I won't make a pig of myself.
Later,
Babyface
P.S
Thank you Minnie Mouse for your posting.
babyface 01-26-03, 04:21 PM Before I report my weight let me tell you a bit about my week...
The babyshower was lots of fun. I ate a bit of everything-even cake and ice cream. I probably used about 40 points that day.
That's a lot, especially considering I am only supposed to use 20-25 points daily. Oh well, instead of dwelling in guilt, I just made up for it by eating really well on Sunday through Thursday. I'm happy to say that I manage to stay under 25 points all five days. I even manage to get all my servings of veggies and fruits and my two servings of milk daily.
On Friday I went over by around 5 points and yesterday(Saturday) I took my oldest son for breakfast at Friendlys and did manage to go over on my points YET AGAIN.
One good thing about this week is that my water intake has greatly improved. Starting Thurday I manage to get a bit over 48 ounces daily. It's not a lot but it is a start. At my best, I used to drink over 120 ounces a day, but right now it's a struggle to get 48 ounces down. It's especially tough drinking so much water while working. It seems like I spent my entire work day on Thursday and Friday running to the bathroom.
Anyhoo, I am happy to report that I went down two pounds this week. I am now 154.
My goals for this week are...
1. To stay under 25 points all week.
2. To bring my water intake up to 72 ounces.
3. To get back on my exercise bike at least twice this week.
4. To spend one hour-one on one -everyday this week-with each
of my three children. Things get so hectic around here that
I do not feel I am spending enough time alone with each of
them. Am I the only one with this problem???
5. To make sure that even though I do feel FAT and TIRED at
times,
I will make time this week (after my period) to make myself
feel sexy (because no matter how much hubby tries to make
me feel sexy, sometimes it just needs to come from within),
and I WILL make TIME to make crazy love to my
husband.
So these are my goals for the week. They do not all have to do with my weight but not everything in life does, right?
Hope everyone has a fantastic week.
Later,
Babyface
babyface 02-02-03, 12:43 PM Let me start off with the good...
I did great with my points this week and I manage to get on my exercise bike three times this week.
Now with the bad...
My water intake was not good at all. Some days I did manage to drink 48 ounces but on other days I didn't drink a sip of water all day.
Now it's time to report my weight...
All week long my weight has been up and down. I was up to 155.5 for about the last four days. I can honestly tell you that I didn't want to step on the scale this morning afraid of what I would see. But I finally did, and I was relief that the numbers are back down. I am now 153.5. I lost half a pound.
As far as the goals that I set last week...
Well, goals number one and three went great, number two (as I mentioned before) was not happening for me.
I think when I set goal number four I was indeed being a bit unrealistic.
A more realistic goal should have been 15 minutes a day with each child. Honestly, that one hour a day with each child did not work at all. There isn't enough time in MY day to do this. Is there anyone out there with the same problem?
Goal number five, is happening today. I'm going to the store now to buy some candles.
Hope everyone has a great week.
Babyface
Hi
The lack of time is my #1 enemy!:(
I wish I knew how to help you solve it, but I still fight it every day myself....
Your doing great eating wise and have a wonderful attitude :)
Jade
babyface 02-09-03, 08:51 PM Hi everyone,
Thank you Jade for stopping by and offering such encouraging words. I love your quote "Don't tell God..." I must keep that in mind.
My week was great. Snow Day on Friday so school was cancel and I didn't have to go to work. I love Snow Days! Not that I dislike my job, it's just that I LOVE being home with my kids.
It is suppose to snow again after midnight. Hopefully it will be another snow day or at least a two hour delay. :D I guess that's pushing it a bit, huh?
Anyway, about my weight...I was 153 yesterday but today I was back at 153.5 so that means I will not be reporting any weight loss for this week.:c( Actually, I did eat good this week so I'm not feeling guilty. I know those numbers will eventually go down.
Well, I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC week!
Babyface
angelmommy 02-10-03, 01:30 AM You can do it!
You can do it!
You can do it!
:cheer:
Jeni
babyface 02-17-03, 07:24 PM Thanks Angelmommy!
We got hit with lots of snow (about 22 inches or more) so school is cancel tomorrow.
I am 152 this week. That is a 1 1/2 pound lost. I am so relief that there was any amount lost considering I've been a very bad girl, eating chocolate from left to right and eating lots of whipped cream with strawberries.
Oh well, today is another day. I think I should start listing my food intake to keep me from cheating...
Here goes...
Breakfast
1 c. coffee w/ cream and sugar
2 eggs fried with PAM
4 slices of Liter 35 Wheat bread
Lunch
1 c. cheerios
1 c. honey graham cereal
1 c. milk
Dinner
1 Healthy Choice Boneless Beef Ribs w/ BBQ Sauce
1 f.f mango applesauce
For dinner for my family I made white rice with chicken chili.
Anyway, hope everyone has a great week.
Babyface
Anastasia 02-18-03, 05:07 PM Ah ha - I found you!
Sometimes writing down the daily diet gets to be a grind, but it does really help me too. That's part of why I'm back to posting that way also.
You lost all of that weight on WW already - which is amazing. I think that we need a break from losing at times to get psychologically adjusted to our new weight before we continue on. Sounds like you're more than ready for round 2. Good for you.
I visited a friend last night whom I haven't seen in years. She just lost 55 lbs. this year on WW and her husband lost 40. They look and feel great. It's definately a good program. I mean, look at you - losing 1 1/2 lbs. while eating chocolate and all that! Congrats on the weight loss.
babyface 02-18-03, 06:41 PM Thanks Anastasia. You are so right. I did need that time to get use to my weight. I am definetely ready now to lose the rest .
I must say that I enjoyed reading your journal today. You go girl!

My exercise for today is:
2.28 miles on my exercise bike.
This is all for now.
Babyface
babyface 02-19-03, 08:30 PM I woke up today feeling horrible. I have such a bad cold. To top it off, I found out that there will indeed be school tomorrow (though, we do have a 2 hour delay). So back to work-feeling sick as a dog- it is. So glad it's almost Friday!

Woke up still feeling like crap. My head feels like it's going to blow any minute now.
I have a babyshower to go to this evening and then I'm suppose to go to a comedy show tonight with hubby and some of my co-workers. I don't feel like going ANYWHERE! Not just because I'm sick but also because hubby is really getting on my nerves this morning.8-| He better chill out because I am in no mood.

Babyface
babyface 02-23-03, 07:23 PM Had a great time at the comedy club last night. I was flirting with hubby all night and he couldn't wait to get me home. I ended up having a few drinks too many (I'm not much of a drinker to begin with). By the time we got home I was feeling a bit sick and in no mood to finish what I had started. I must say that hubby was sweet about it. I think I will end up paying the price tonight.:D
***************************************************
This is my continue food list from yesterday:
Lunch

Dinner
2 slices of pizza
had some drinks, popcorn, and some of hubby's french-fries.
****************************************************
Here's what I ate today:
Breakfast:
2 eggs
4 slices of Liter35 wheat bread
2 slices of fat free turkey breast

Lunch:

As you can see, I was really in the mood for orange juice today and not in the mood for water.
****************************************************
I lost one pound this week. I am now 151. I can't wait to be under 150.
goodnight...
Babyface
Anastasia 02-23-03, 11:57 PM Awww, so sorry you are sick but congratulations on the lb. lost! Yay, I'll bet that seeing the 140's on the scale will feel like such a victory...should be coming up soon now!
You're so funny; the bit about your husband really made me laugh. the thing about drinking is that just enough can help loosen ya up, but too much can put ya right out.
Your menus look great - even the pizza - 3 pieces isn't 6 and we all know that we can eat that much! :o
I'll check in with you again later this week. I hope you feel better soon.
babyface 02-24-03, 09:57 PM Thanks Anastasia for the get-well wishes. I love the name Anastasia. It sounds cool, you know. My name is sooo blah.
About my previous posting...I did end up paying the price for being such a CT the previous night. :D It was a fun price to pay.
****************************************************

Later!
Babyface
Anastasia 02-25-03, 03:09 AM Hey there babyface,
Do you mean that your on-line name is boring or your 'real' name - (whatever that is)? By the way, all that I know about you is that you live in PA as you left most of your profile blank. What do you do for work?
I looked over your points for the day and thought, 'uh-oh. I don't use the WW point system, but if I did, I believe I would have far succeeded the allotment for someone my size. Sh!te!I want to see SWEET HOME ALABAMA TOO (I loved Reese in LEGALLY BLOND and ELECTION) but I'm waiting till I can buy it for a friend on video. I think only the DVD version is available for sale just yet.
Good going on the exercise; 150 is just around the corner!
Bettyboop 02-25-03, 06:25 AM Hi there Babyface, Great job on the weight loss so far and your menus look good. I bet you will lose the weight in no time at all if you keep doing what you are doing! You are an excercise machine! You go girl!:wn
babyface 02-26-03, 09:12 PM I had a very rough day yesterday. No time to myself-let alone to write in here.
So here I am today...
Anastasia, I meant my real name is boring. As far as my line of work. I am a teacher's assistant. It's not as stressful, etc... as being a teacher- so therefore my salary is A LOT less. I tell you, if it wasn't for the benefits I would have quit along time ago. I do love the teachers that I work with but the salary sucks.
Anyhoo, I also liked Reese in Legally Blond but I didn't see Election yet. Was it funny?
Bettyboop, 34 pounds is FANTASTIC! You must feel sooo good.
I've just started getting back into exercising and it has been a very SLOW process. I am in no way an exercise machine but thanks anyway for the compliment. That comment motivated me in a very big way.
I didn't write down what I ate yesterday but I do know that I used 24 points. One bad thing about yesterday is that I had
a chocolate attack and ate a package of Twix after lunch. When I figured out the points I was very sorry. Seven freaking points! What a waste. I could have had a whole meal for that amount of points. Did I learn my lesson? No way! Read on....
exercise for Tuesday: walked 1 mile
Today went like this...
Breakfast- 5 pts.
1 c. coffee with creamer and sugar- 2 pts.
4 slices of Liter 35 wheat bread - 2 pts
2 slices of fat free turkey breast- 1 pt
Lunch
1 c. broccoli and snowpeas- 0 pts.
1 c. greenbeans - 0 pts.
1 c. carrots - 1 pt
Total for lunch: 2 pts.
I must explain that 2 c. pf zero pt. foods equal one pt. to me. I hope this is not confusing.
snack:
4 pieces of chocolate - 8 pts. AGAIN a waste of points!
My period is coming. What else can I say?
Dinner
4 slices of Liter 35 wheat bread- 2 pts
1 can of chunck white tuna in water - 3 pts
1 tbsp. light mayo - 1 pt.
1 c. coffee w/ creamer and sugar - 2 pts.
Total points used: 23
water: 58 ounces
exercise for today: walked 1 mile and wasn't really in the mood to do anything else but then I read what Bettyboop wrote and I felt sooo guilty that I got on my exercise bike and manage to do 4 miles. I also did 10 minutes of Latin dancing.
Thank you Bettyboop!!!!
I know my menu is a bit dull but it's just that I've been very busy. Hopefully, my menu will improve next week. I need more protein for sure.
Hope everyone has a great Thursday!
Babyface.
Anastasia 02-26-03, 11:57 PM That's a great affirmation: I AM AN EXERCISE MACHINE, I AM AN EXERCISE MACHINE, I AM...
I know! I hate wasting points, calories, or what have you on junk food! Those darn hormones...
You had protein for breakfast and dinner - just not for lunch. It doesn't seem like just plain veggies would be a very satisfying meal...
I was actually lukewarm on ELECTION when I saw it in the theatre, but then I l*o*v*e*d it when I recently saw it on TV. It's a very ironic, dark comedy. Matthew Broderick is excellent in it too.
YOU ARE AN EXERCISE MACHINE, YOU ARE AN EXERCISE MACHINE, YOU ARE...
babyface 03-02-03, 11:05 AM I have been feeling very sick these past days. Feels like the flu. My whole body is aching. I went to the doctor's office on Friday and found out I had a sinus and eye infection. CRAP!
I was in bed most of yesterday with a 102 fever. My head feels like it is going to explode. To top it off, my period came on Friday.
I weighed in at 149 this morning. Finally! Though, I am a bit hesitant to celebrate because I feel I only lost it because I'm sick and not eating or drinking much. I figure the numbers might go up as soon as I start eating my regular meals again. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
In anycase, I have to cut my points down to 18-23 daily.
Anastasia, I started watching the movie "Sweet home..." on Friday but I fell asleep. I will watch it when I am feeling better.
Babyface
Anastasia 03-02-03, 11:26 PM Aw, I'm so sorry that you are sick. As I began to read of all of your ailments I thought, "all she needs is to get her period on top of that" and lo and behold, that was your next sentance!
Once I sent a 'prayer' out into the eithers "I DON'T CARE WHAT IT TAKES, I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT NOW!" Wouldn't you know I came down with a bad case of bronchitus and could barely eat or keep anything down for 3 weeks. I lost about eight pounds. - but gained it back soon after I got well. Needless to say, I don't make those kind of cosmic requests anymore. All of this to say that I can't count on weight loss from being sick - but maybe you'll be different that me; I'm ready to celebrate with you when you're ready...let me know...
babyface,
hope your feeling better. A good dose of echinacea would do you good.
Hope those few pounds stay off. A present after feeling sick,
Get better soon,
Laoise
babyface 03-03-03, 06:48 PM Thanks Anastasia and Laoise! I will let you know Anastasia when I'm ready to celebrate!
I didn't sleep much last night and even though I did wake up feeling a bit better today, I decided to miss work anyway. I didn't spend my day resting, instead I spent my day cleaning, doing laundry (I had lots of it), and doing my bills. Having done this has made me feel much better. I think I will sleep great tonight.
I had visitors over my "sick" weekend (CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?)and hubby had his hands full as it was. He was planning to come home from work and do the cleaning today but I beat him to it.
This is what I ate today:
Breakfast
1 c. coffee w/ creamer and sugar -2 pts.
2 slices fat free turkey breast - 1 pt
2 slices of Liter 35 wheat bread- 1 pt
1/2 c. orange juice - 1 pt.
Dinner
22 pieces of cheese tortellini -4 pts
1/2 c. diced tomatoes- 0 pts
1 c. broccoli- 0 pts
1c. carrots- 1 pt
Snack
2 c. cereal- 6 pts
1c. skim milk- 2 pts
I can't wear my contacts due to my eye infection so I'm a bit blind here. Excuse me if I make a bunch of spelling mistakes.
Have a great week everyone!
Babyface
Ps.
We are going to get a female dog soon and I am looking for a good name. Any suggestions?
Anastasia 03-04-03, 11:10 PM What kind of dog? Color, size, demeanor? A friend and I were once going to begin a business that gave names to things, so I'll help!
I might stay away from the site until next week; I shall try anyway, because I want to get some writing done and this is taking up a lot of my time. If I am gone for a bit, know that I am thinking of you and rooting for you and I will chat with you shortly!
We'll discuss puppy names again then...:D
Hey Baby face,
for one so blind you made no spelling mistakes.. . .hope that makes you feel better. Have you ever had a dog before? Think it over. . .so much responsiblity. How ever i am reluctant to admitt that they have their positive qualities too. And good for excercize too! I have too. . .Molly And Ruby. . .feel free to use those if you like 'em! How about Rasher . . .my mum wanted to call ours that at first! I don't know if you use the word rasher but its actually the word we use for strips of bacon!
How about madra? its Irish for dog! (pp modra) Thats it iM OUT!
babyface 03-09-03, 03:15 PM I've stayed away most of the week due to lack of energy and an increase sense of depression.
Anastasia...we are getting a yellow lab mix. Don't have much more info other than my son is getting her from a school friend in about three weeks. I hope you got lots of writing done. Can't wait to buy your first book.
Laoise...I've never had a dog before so I'm a bit wary. It's funny that you mention naming the dog Madra because my daughter has a great love for the Irish culture. She even wants to move to Ireland when she grows up. I don't know if we'll pick Madra but I will put it on my list of names to think about. Thanks!
About my weight...I weighed in at 148 this morning. I am now looking forward to weighing 145.
I do hope everyone has a great week.
Babyface
Anastasia 03-09-03, 08:03 PM Change your stats then, girlfriend - get that lower number on there!
I like laoise's suggestion's for doggie names. I was going to say that for Labs I like 'human' sounding names like SAM or MAX for males, MOLLY or RUBY, etc. for females. If I had pets I'd name them either Shakespearean names: OPHELIA, ROMEO, etc. or Sanskrit names like SHANTI for peace, ANANDA for joy, etc. - but that's just me... Just don't call her GOLDIE - too pat and obvious...
Sorry you've been so blah and blue. Hope you're steadily recovering...
Hi Babyface,
just dropped by to see how you are doing. WOW 148!!! GOOD JOB. YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!! KEEP IT UP!!!
Otto
:)
Anastasia 03-13-03, 10:25 PM Honey, where ARE you? Are you still depressed? What's going on?
