Another question for seniors -

What is the biggest problem you have as a "dieting senior"? I am an "experienced dieter", that is I automatically know the caloric value of every food known to man. But sometimes I have a problem avoiding the foods that cause me problems.

Certain foods call me by name and they are hard to ignore.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi Jo: I have the same problem Jo but I feel IMO for me it is important to make allowances for those little goodies and keeping some calories for those treats.

Louise, I agree totally.

But even with the setbacks we have on our eating plan I am convinced that with the healthy eating and exercise we are changing more than just our outward appearance, we are making healthy changes in our lives. It may not show, but it is good for us in many ways.

We gott just keep keeping on.

Absolutely Jo I agree with you 100%. Gee I started this about 1 year ago and I feel so much better than before. I must confess that Monica has been a great inspiration for me, and hope when I reach your age another 17 years away!!! I will be still as dedicated and committed as you are.

Hello Jo and Lulu,

I have one particular food item that knows my name all to well, and it doesn't just call out to me, but it screams out my name. ICE CREAM! I sometimes feel that if I deny myself my favorite "comfort food" any longer, I will put myself in real danger. And actually, that does happen at times. I have gone without for weeks, and then just couldn't stand it any longer and ended up buying a pint and eating all of it at one sitting. Thank goodness I didn't buy a half gallon eh? Ha ha ha ha

If either of you have a sure fire way of beating back this demon, I would certainly love to hear it........

Sandie I used to have a terrible time with ice cream. I used to eat almost half a gallon quite often just watching TV etc. but in the past year I just didn't have it in the house and have played the "pick up and put back game" in the grocery store many times but it worked. We had ice cream once during the holidays only. So far none this year. Hope this helps, or maybe get some yogurt and freeze it and just slightly thaw it that might also do the trick......

Sooz: Are you saying that sheer will power is what works for you most of the time and with special occasions always happening that we should not give in at all or what. Just trying to understand
