View Full Version : One Giant Step for mankind
bigacey 01-19-03, 03:19 AM Well maybe not for mankind, But I am over the moon with my weight yesterday, and changing those stats made it sink in that I have turned around the one area of life that I have let myself down bigstlye, Lots still to go but time will sort it out and normality is on the cards, there has been quite a few newcomers joined us guys recently and fair enough not everyone have as much weight to lose but if its any encouragement life is far more rewarding and I wish I had woke up and faced reality sooner and not waited till I bottomed out, So best of luck to all those on there different journeys, and well done and keep it up to those who are also on target.
Also ? why don't we share what difference dumping those lbs is making to our life,s.
Thanks to all for there support ,advice and encouragement and some short but powerful word's.

getnfit@38 01-19-03, 07:07 AM Way to go bigacey! :)
299 is a milestone! You are doing so well on your journey and you are such an inspiration, I hope since you share your loss so publicly that others will see it can be done, it takes time and discipline, but it can be done!
I am elated for you! :)

What can I say......congratulations.........You have done so well.
Good luck with the rest of your journey.
Ellie
Wow! 299, down 114! AMAZING!
luke awol 01-22-03, 01:59 PM Keep it up! I'm having trouble with these last 20 pounds. :( I can't seem to budge past 214 without starving, and that makes me end up over-eating.
Sigh, such is life.
Way to go BIGACEY>>> Doesn't it feel great??? One question I have though?? why is it always mankind instead of womankind?? ROFLMAO..
bigacey 01-22-03, 08:15 PM Thank's, everyone for your support and praise, dumping these lbs is making a difference in lots of ways, and although I have a long way to go I am feeling great benefits all round, just a little example, normally I would drive with no jacket for I felt to bulky and restricted, but last night I drove to a customers home sat for one and a half hours on there sofa estimating, kept my jacket on, never sweat ed once and got up with no problem,i also don't feel that I stand out any where near as much in crowds, and the range of clothes are getting better every month, its great not to be restricted to 2 specialist shops who charge sky high prices, when I walk its now faster without sweating, I sleep less and inwardly I feel healthy, I could go on and on, so if its any encouragement to others" THIS IS JUST A TASTE OF THE FUTURE" good luck to all and thanks again.
Luke I have read your post's and had some advice passed on from you since I first came to DT and your success has been steady and terrific, whatever is causing this pause I would imagine with your dedication must have a good reason and maybe its not ? doom and gloom but a change in body shape muscle or similar, any way I don't doubt in your case it will work out,
Well done on your success.

luke awol 01-24-03, 02:28 PM I'm thinking 215 is a plateu for me. I've had several in my journey.
bigacey, if you think the clothes selection is better at 299, wait until you get to 235. At 215, I'm wearing a medium t-shirt, a large sweater, a size 35 pants and have so much energy.
I'm happy for you and hope you continue to do just as good.
bigacey 01-26-03, 12:27 PM Hi Luke it must be a great feeling knowing you are not far off your goal and considering how far you have come I don't doubt if you want to keep going down then you will do it, well done on your success.
? did you set your goal at the beginning or after you had lost a bit , how did you judge what you felt would be suitable.
Another small point that I noticed last night , we were visiting friend's and its quite a while since I sat on there sofa and its one of those that you sink into, and in the past it was a slight problem getting up without going down on one knee etc, but hey its no bother now.

Hi Acey
Now that you have dumped all them lbs I am glad you are noticing other things about your way of life that are now easier.
It makes losing weight a pleasurable experience.
Good luck, It won't be too long before you're posting tips on how to maintain a weight loss.
Ellie
congrats bigacey... the postives are that you will gain so much confidence and you will have so much energy.. the confidence is the best part, I think.
SierraDude 01-29-03, 08:43 PM Great Job Bigacey!
You are an inspiration. I am so close to breaking that elusive 300lb mark myself, but it has been a bit elusive. I seem to be a bit stuck right now, but I know what you mean. I've lost 83lbs so far and feel oh so much better after dropping four pant sizes and almost two shirt sizes. I also notice more energy, less depression and more confidence. My motivation right now is that if I feel this great half way there it can get nothing but better.
Keep up your good work dude!
bigacey 01-30-03, 03:54 PM Hi Ellie I really am looking forward to this summer, this weather is so making the night,s long.
John in a lot of different area,s of my life I am confident, have to be to make a living , but you are right as far as being image conscious I am feeling great and my confidence is building and the energy level is coming along great, Thanks
Hi Sierradude as John has just remarked the positive's are making it all so so worth it, 83 lbs gone a great achievement and one to be proud of, Well done, ?, but you like me obviously don't want to stick at the high end of the 2's or the early 3's for if we can come this far and dump a sack load and feel the benefits we must go the distance and dump the rest, These months and long winter nights and stressful times in my small business is really testing my commitment as well, but join me in reaching those goal post's, Lets see you go into the 2's, ??whats 8lbs nothing that a few weeks wont sort, Elusive ? dump the lbs along with this word.

Bigacey, Just read this thread. Pretty darn inspiring!! It is cool that you have came so far and you can see how it has changed your life. I might have not lost as much weight but I can tell it has made a big difference in my life also. I am almost 40 and I feel as good as I did when I was 25. I love to ride mt bikes I can now keep up with the people that I never could before sounds small but it means a lot to me.

Well done Bigacey!! you'r doing great. I just dropped by here for the first time and wasn't sure if I could post with it being a forum for men, but I noticed ellie has dropped by. I haven't been here long and I've only lost 13lbs compared to your huge loss, but it has already made a difference to me. I think you are a great inspiration. Keep up the good work!!
bigacey 02-06-03, 08:25 PM Hi Gary thanks for your comments, it does not sound small at all and its great that by trimming yourself back you feel younger and that your doing well with the biking, I am going this weekend to an exhibition called outdoor living , we enjoy touring in the summer with our small caravan and when I get down a bit a rugged bike will be on my shopping list.
