I called this second chance because that is what the doctors told my husband when he had a quadruple by pass last thursday Jan. 16. But unlike him i don't have to wait till it gets that bad. I don't want to have to go through what he did. So i'm starting now yesterday was the first day on my second chance at life. i'm cooking low fat low cholesterol that's what hubby needs and i'm sure it should do me good also.
Yes this is my second chance and i hope i can be serious about it.
food intake for yesterday
Breakfast: 1 toast with peanut butter
10:00 banana
12:00 2 bowls of chilli soup with a bun
3:00 apple with spices
5:30 very lean roast pork with cabbage
8:00 Banana
9:00 1/2 tuna sal. sand. on brown
Could have been a better day but not bad in a whole.

You are so right about healthy eating! I am trying to cook and live a healthier lifestyle for life instead of just looking toward weight loss. Although, I do cheer a time or two on every pound I lose!LOL My goal seems to be kind of similar to yours in a way, to my health first and foremost and then to feel great about the way I look! You are on the right track and doing GREAT!!!

I do think like you Linda yes we are very special people. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I had another not so bad diet day yesterday. sat here and gabbed or read for a total of about four hours so all the stuff i said i was to do got pushed to the back burner. Today i have to find time to scrub that back burner everything is pilling up on it. LOL
food intake for yesterday
Jan. 24
Breakfast at 9:00 toast and peanut butter
2 coffee 2 water
skipped snack
12:15 lunch Alfredo sauce on a pkg. of those soup noodles it was made with celery onion and a bit of pork with skim milk very little cheese lots of garlic and spices not to bad.
3:15 snack carrots and celery sticks with a dip made of low fat sour cream and light mayo with herbs. That was really good.
3 water in afternoon.
5:30 Turkey 1/2 pot. with sour cream asparagus tips
6:30 was hungry for dessert had 1/2 cup lemon pudding with a handful frozen blueberries thrown in that was very good.
7:00 low fat pretzels why because they were sitting on the table saying eat me eat me.
During evening sisters came over with a basket of goodies that son won and there was a basket of chocolates in there so of course i had two of those but stopped at two hope the rest are gone before i get the urge for more.
2 water and a hot water with ginger and honey.
Not to bad a day i feel satisfied even though i had a couple chocolates.
Now for today all i had is coffee so far. But i do feel strong and in control of today. So lets see what happens

Hey boblin great to see you back again.. We went to cochrane a few weeks ago and believe it or not first thing I thought about was you.. LOL...I'm glad hubby is doing good.. All it usually takes is one good scare to get a person to get back with their program...Good luck on yours.. We will be routing for ya all the way...

I left diettalk for quite awhile but with Gods blessing, I only gained 6 pounds while I was away.....

When you were here before I was in Nova Scotia, now I'm in Alberta for a year. Cold!!! Did your hubby have to go south for his operation or did they do it there? I'll bet that soon he'll start to feel a thousand times better.

Thank you all for the visit and wonderful words of encourgement for both myself and hubby. I had to rush him to hospital because of his breathing last night he was choking on me and giving me quite a scare. They put him on saline mist and that helped a lot today every time I turn around his head is in a boiling pot on the stove to get some mist. He's coughing and breathing much better today. Another week and hopefully he will be much better.
I kind of remember you both Vickie and Pat. I was gone for quite some time. Hubby started to get sick in the fall finally found the problem and hopefully corrected it. It's a big job to have to stay in the house with him all the time but i guess that's why i'm called wife. You have to do what you have to do.
I'm doing fairly well in the diet section doing extremely well with the no fat. Finding all kinds of way of cooking without oil or margarine and actually it isn't hard.
Last night had a bit of a downfall after my bout at hospital but i think it was the stress of it all that made me have the rice crispies but could have been worst could of went to hospital confectionary and bought a chocolate bar or two. I can say i'm not mad at myself for having the cereal.
Here is yesterday food intake a little bad but i can't change yesterday so i'll try to see what the present will do.
Up at 7:00 coffee, coffee
8:00 Orange
9:30 Oatmeal with a bit of maple syrup and about 1/2 cup of 2% milk
12 : 30 2 bowls of leftover soup this had to be low fat because it was made with the leftover cabbage carrots pot. anything that was in the fridge went in it and it was good but no idea how many calories. But then i only had soup. so can't be all bad.
3:00 son came home with big Mac's being we have no Mac. or any fast food's except for Kentucky I had to have one. But that will be my treat for the week.
6:00 soup and a turkey sand. on brown with light mayo and lettuce
1/2 cup of healthy choice tapiocca pudding.
9:00 rice crispies with 2% milk and sugar.
a few 1/3 fat Pringles The latters I explained in my journal.
Not a good day but then again we can't have all good days. Or that would make us perfect and golly gee i'm not that.

Jan. 27 and still doing great well Jan. 26 was anyhow. Not a flaw in my eating did very good. As for being active well that was very poor. But all in all i'm satisfied with my day. Up at 5:30 this morning so that's already going on two hours of playing here. Oh well i'm not in the kitchen but i should be, I have a turkey to debone and put in 4 oz. pkg. and freeze. funny how we can make things like that wait while we have fun. LOL

9: 00 1 Tst with very little Becel marg.
3 coffee what the heck its Sunday
12:15 1 egg on two slices of whole wheat bread
2:00 a few carrots sticks with dip
5:30 1 small steak the size of a deck of cards, 1 baked pot. smallest there was. 1/2 cup of peas
dessert 1 cup of fruit with jello
I'm quite satisfied with my day. no snack at night i had a sitter for hubby so i went out and played cards until 9:30 then came played here on diet talk chat until 11:00.
so here goes to another good one today
and that would be five four down 1 to go

Monday night Jan. 27
Another good day making it day 5 .
walked 20 min. on treadmill today. Didn't accomplish much of anything just couldn't get going seems my get up and go got up and went. Oh well better days to come. Hubby is getting better maybe i can get a decent nights sleep soon. I spent most of my day playing on the puter.
My food intake was good here goes
5:30 coffee water
8:00 Golly i was glad to see it come around i was so hungry.
2 shreaded wheat's with 1/2 cup 2% milk with 1tsp sugar.

Tried to go for a nap couldn't sleep.
12:00 big bowl of leftover soup and 1/2 turkey salad sand.

2:00 fruit salad and jello
a little piece of steak because hubby didn't want it i guess the dogs could have handled it oh well
5:30 Hot turkey open face with 1 baked pot. and asparagus tips had a bit of becel marg. on my potato.

sorry about the scare with your hubby but sometimes it takes just that for us to get healthy,.
im trying to get my hubby to eat better cuz he eats alot of fried foods and junk but so far i am out of luck but i do sneak low fat things into his diet without him knowing it.

I'm trying hard yes i had a scare i certainly don't want to have to go through what hubby did. This is day 6 of this diet. I'm doing low fat and don't find it to bad. Went and did some shopping with hubby today he walked a lot today. he's doing well. I made a fat free supper and i look and the silly old fart had wieners on his plate what is a person suppose to do.
anyway if he doesn't want to watch well i will.
here's my day's intake of food
had a late start to my day forgot to get up LOL
9:00 7 dried prunes Coffee coffee water
12:00 did things a bit backwards hubby wanted to go to town and wouldn't wait for me to make my soup. So i had a bowl of fruit salad.
1;30 Made my soup asparagus, onion and turkey with turkey base and fat free milk thickened with a bit of flour. 2 bowls.
6:00 Salad with a chunk of apple chopped tomato and celery with italian dressing. 1 cup of kraft dinner made with fat free milk and olympia marg. with hamburger in it.
8:00 yogurt 1/2 cup with lots of frozen blueberries
So that's today's take oops forgot the water did have some but certainly not enough. so off to bed and another day tomorrow

Hope hubby is on the road to recovery today and no more scares like the other night! Bless your heart! I would have been scared silly too!!!!! Hope today turns out a whole lot better for you!!! Soon that 6 pound gain while you were away from dt will be long gone, along with extra's along with it!!!!! You go girl!!!! We will win this Battle!!!!!!!!:dn

Well i'm missing posts for Wed. and Thursday but i can honestly say i was good those two days. and i guess with the loss i've accomplished show it. Now with i could say the same for Friday.. Well Thursday night to. Didn't give myself enough planning time these last two days. And you know that saying if you don't take time for planning plan on failing.
After tops on Thursday I made myself a nice hamburger bun and all the toppings. I had only had a meat patty with green tom. chow chow and lettuce for supper. Didn't want to eat weight in night. Oh well. Then i had fruitted Jello. Not a bad choice.
Now for Friday's take
9:00 am Poached Egg on Tst.
11:30 Soup and a Chef's Salad at Kaylob's not bad choices in a restaurant.
I shouldn't be skipping my snacks it sets me up
6:00 2 cups of linguine with 1 can of tomato soup it was a lazy night of everyone for themselves and i wasn't having canned stew. They don't even put the nutrition value on those they have to be loaded with fat.
Fruited Jello, 4 cookies no no's, 7 Pringles. Then i came here for help before i got carried away to far. I was bad but i have seen myself worse. I got control before i lost it got water and more water. But i washed the craving away.

Sorry you poor poor journal i'm just spending to much time in chat that's all. But here i am didn't forget you. Tuesday today i feel so good i have that nice empty and light feeling you get when your doing good on your diet. Got up at 7:30 did ten min. on treadmill had my coffee and 7 prunes. when it came to snack time hubby wanted to go out for coffee so away i went no snack had a cup of tea at Tim Horton's. Then we went to grocery store for fruit and veg. Now i'm waiting for my soup very low fat chicken veg. with rice noodles. I'm starting to get hungry but not to bad considering i only had those prunes since supper at 6pm last night. I know this isn't good but i'll take it while it last but I notice anytime i do this i'm hungry at night but i have lots of fruit and veg. and got what i need to make a low fat dip for veg. so i know i can do good.
Here's my take for Saturday i'm going to post this just to keep me out of the kitchen.
sat. 10:am 1 brown toast with honey
12:30 Homemade very low fat cream of turkey soup 1 brown bun had 2 bowls of soup nothing else
3:tongue:m Banana
5:30 1 loin chop 1 slice of pot. 2 pot. stuffed with brocolli and low fat cheese. 1 serving choc. pudding.
ouch 2 servings no fat nosugar choc. pudding
exercise= 6 min. on treadmill, 5 min. walking tape, 10min. walking outside.

12:00 2 servings brown rice with celery onion and chicken chopped in with a bit of soya and chicken soup base.
6:00 1 1/2 cup of pasta with 1 cup of meat sauce.
Had to skip snacking to allow for that. So went out and stayed away from food.

Tuesday
8:00 2 coffee 7 prunes
tea at Tim Horton's
12;15 Low fat chicken veg. soup and 3 hollywood toat with light cheese whizz
1:00 to 2:00 munched on a bunch of grapes
Oh well fat free anyhow
4:00 1 slice hollywood bread with 1 oz hi lo cheese
6:30 2 soups leftover's from lunch but i added a bit of ham and 1/2 brown bun
7:00 fruit cocktail
9:00 Ham sand. with must. on hollywood bread only because i had to make son's lunch. Lunch will have to be made while making supper from now on.
Told you what I seen of a loss on Monday would be back and it is. sure don't have to be bad much to gain some back. Oh well no use crying about it. Just move and do something about it is all one can do.

12:00 Salad with a bit of cheese and ham chopped in with creamy pepper dressing.
4:30 5 prunes
4:45 a little piece of turnip while getting supper ready
5:30 2 bowls of homemade pea soup 1 hamburg pattie 1/4 cup of peas and 1/2 cup carrots and turnip.
7:00 getting hungry for something sweet mixed up a pkg. of lf ls butterscoth pudding with fat free milk with a sliced banana yummy
9:00 it was to yummy and i had another
Better get to bed i'll eat it all.
did only 16 min. of treadmill not to good
went out and played cards for the afternoon
did my usual 2 loads of laundry but then again that's every day
Filled my dishwasher hubby and i have a deal he empties i fill it goes good.
Did some knitting after supper got to hurry and knit another pair of socks for my uncle i gave him a pair for his birthday a couple days ago and he still has them on. better get him another pair before his feet fall off. LOL.
Well not to good a day in the diet department i shouldn't make so much food I like for supper I would of had enough of the soup. but the good cooking got me to where i'm at. but none of this good food had any fat. that's the difference between now and then i'm learning to cook healthy. It may not be off tonight but it will come off as long as i don't give up. and i won't . If i fall i'll pick myself up and hopefully the same day not in a week a month or six months. The sooner you get back up the better it will be.

12:00 hot dog with green tom. chow chow
Chocolate pudding with 1/2 banana
2 slices fruit cake
6:15 rack of ribs 1/2 cup turnip and carrots & caesar salad with homemade low fat dressing
10:30 Should of went to bed i blew it

2 pieces fruit cake
Out of control went to bed.
got up this morning and right back to it.
If I haven't learnt nothing else out of this diet treck is if you fall pick yourself up the faster the better. Doing good so far. But it's only noon. Did 16 days of good dieting and blew it. Oh well starting another challenge going to try and better my 16 days.

Good morning this morning being Feb.11. My puter was down for a couple days. So glad to get it back. I miss coming here and chat.
Monday's food intake

Then started running around to get puter fixed. back home at lunch.
One bowl of low fat chicken and brocolli soup
Made a concoction of rice steamed onion and cabbage had a bit of that.
vogurt and a banana
4:30 7 dried prunes
5:30 1 pork chop with more of my lunch concoction
10:00 Mashed pot. with mush soup gravy very low fat
All in all the scale is down from Friday and that's what i was aiming for some kind of loss Thursday will tell that's weigh in at tops.
Hubby went to doctors yesterday and all is well. He is feeling much much better. His breathing is still a bit troubled but that will come in time. I have a big pussy cat when it comes to pain. Breathing hurts so you just don't breath.
For myself health is up. Wealth is down but who's isn't. see you all in chat.

LOL! Well that's truly better than the other way around! What good is weath anyway, when you don't have the heath to enjoy it? I'm very sorry to hear about your hubby's health problems, but I am really happy to see that you are taking charge of your own health. It's work, but we can do this, right?

I had a very good day diet wise and exercise wise today. Did 25 min. on the treadmill before my first coffee this morning. Had a very good eating day.

All in all a very good day i haven't left the house but didn't let myself get bored. That's when i run into problems. And overeat.

for me nightime is the worst.
everyone is in bed and i relax and want to munch but ive been doing well lately and hope to keep it that way.
we wont always have great days with our eating but the important thing is to keep on trying.

Well I was down on myself thursday night and yesterday but i picked up today and hopefully can stay on the right road. Yesterday is gone. today is what i have to focus on.

You did it! YAY U! Hey now.. imagine you were me for a minute ok? And you got this treadmill and wanted to use it because it was so rainy out and it would feel good to workout at home only to find that it has a weight capacity of 250 pounds and you weigh 267 pounds!:tomato: Well be grateful ok? At least you CAN use your treadmill even if you don't want to!!!! For now I'm doing aerobic videos and walking the town on nice days and going to the gym on ambitious days but I long for the day I can use that darn treadmill!!!! I'd use it now but I'm afraid I might break the damn thing. Just trying to give you a new perspective on things. Hope it helped. Have a great week! :wn
