Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know if glucophage helps a person lose weight, and if so, why does it help the body lose weight?
thanks,
Gloucopage is a diabetes medicine, not a weight loss medicine. You need to be very guarded in what foods you eat as this medicine can encourage weight gain. Not to disallusion you, but, watch those simple carbs very closely. I found i craved carbs and it is very hard not to give into those cravings, but, you will feel much better and have better results if you can control it. Call your doctor's office and get them to explain Gloucopage to you and why you have to take it or look it up online. I am type 2 diabetic (pills) and take gloucovance which is gloucopage and glyberide together to help being insulin resistant. I am fixing to come off diabetes medicine as I continue to lose weight.
Hope this helped... Neta
thanks for taking the time to reply.
"Glucophage has been found to lower blood fat levels and possibly contribute to minor weight loss."
(FYI this is the sort of thing that had me wondering.)
I found this article and I thought you may find it interesting.
