Do we use our age as an excuse?
Do you hear yourself saying something like "I am too old to lose weight." or "At my age it is too difficult for me to exercise." or "I can't remember which foods are good for me to eat, and I don't want to learn anything new."
Let's think about this for a moment. The first excuse was "I am too old to lose weight." But, sweetie, you aren't getting any younger, are you. Now is the time to start. Right now!!! Today!!! This moment!!!
The second excuse was "At my age it is too difficult for me to exercise." And yes it is true that as we age our joints don't work as easily as they used to. But remember that any movement is good for us. So shake what can be shaken and move what can be moved and smile while you are doing it.
And the other excuse was "I can't remember which foods are good for me to eat and I'm too old to learn anything new." And my answer to that one is here you are using the Internet. Do you realize how seldom we see a senior citizen using the Internet? Mostly we find youngsters. But here you are, reading what I have just written. You have certainly learned something new when you figured out to find Diettalk and this forum. If you can learn that, you can learn other things. You can explore the Internet and find out more than you probably wanted to learn and know. It is a whole library, a museum, a total factory of information right at your fingertips.
I'm not saying that it is easy to change our old, bad habits. But we can sure do the best we can with what we have been given. We can do the best we can, as long as we can.
