Didn't know exactly where to post this but here goes. Last night around 4:30 I received a call form Secret Service concerning my credit cards and other personal information.

Last January at the end of the month or the beginning of February I got a call from Western Union stating that a woman was there in the store wanting to send $450.00 to herself using my name and credit card. Of course I said no and she in turned called the police and I contacted my credit card company and reported the fraud.

Seems the SS arrested the man who had developed a program that helped him break into accounts in EBay. Mine was one of several hundred card numbers that he stole. The agent then gave me all the information this man and woman had about me. They had everything but my bra size. I have cancelled all credit cards and in the process of changing all bank account numbers.

The agent suggested that I make all these changes. Of course I am doing it right now but wanted to let everyone know who uses EBay that their accounts may have been compromised.

The man who broke into EBay accounts is now in prison and agent was notifying folks who might have more info about the thief and his girl friend.

I can not believe that anyone would be so low as to steal credit card numbers and personal information. I thought EBay was a secure site. Guess not! Anyway FYI.

Hi Sooz,
Actually I have used checks and credit cards and automatic withdrawal when I used Paypal. So far I haven't had any problems other than the $850 they tried to get on my credit cards. But the potential is there and who knows who else that info was passed on to before the SS arrested him and confiscated the computer that had all the accounts listed. All the info is hopefully out of circulation but I changed account numbers just incase.

I have bought stuff from EBay for a long time and had no problems and will still go ahead and buy the things I like from there. I just refuse to allow crooks to change my behavior well to a certain point.

Wowe this is just a mess but fortunately I can fix it quickly with a few calls. Some people weren't so lucky.
