Last week a bunch of us started a weigh-in for Saturdays and I thought maybe we should post here in the weight loss section.So....this week I'm down to 196 and would like to get to the 150, wish me luck.
Oh I am just trying to lose by good healthy eating and by daily exercise. How about you?

Sounds like you have the same goal as me - lost 12 pounds do far in 5 weeks on my own diet - my goal weight is 150. (Now I am 188 pounds - sure is better than 200 from where I started.) What kind of exercise do you do?

no worries
02-22-00, 09:41 PM
Hey! My goal is 150 as well! I started at 253 and now I'm at 226. I'm loosing about 3 lbs a week. I do the treadmill or walk outside 30 min twice a day(sometimes I skip the evening) and I've "altered my eating habits". Way to go you all..keep up the good work!

Went to the Dr.s the other day. Have lost 12lbs. in 8 weeks. Wish I was losing faster but taking what I can get. After 8 months of weight gain I am happy that my metabolism is finally working again. Trying to tell myself that any loss, even status quo is a good thing.

I lost 7 more lbs this week, so I'm down to 274 from my starting weight of 316- 6 weeks ago. I guess when your this overweight it peels of fast. I'm just eating healthy and exercising and inhaling water left and right. Subways are really helping and filling for dinner. 150 is my goal someday too.

Jessica
03-12-00, 11:52 PM
Well, my goal is 150 too. right now, I weigh 218 and it hasn't changed in about 3 months. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I go to the gym 4 days a week. I do 30-40 minutes of cardio, then 20 minutes of weight training. And yes, I've checked the inches. ZERO lost!! I try not to snack or eat wrong but I work ridiculous hours--from 1 p.m.-3-4 a.m. I drink lots of water, no caffeine and no soda. I did make a doctor's appointment to see if anything was wrong. I go on Wednesday. If that's not it, I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions??

Hi Jessica
What are you eating? Low fat and high carbs, or low carb? I have found that I need to restrict carbs, and that has helped me enormously, I am now 188 and I started coming here when I was 210 that was in January. So maybe look into CAD,or Atkins, or Protein Power, they may be what you need. I am addicted to carbs and I needed to change my whole outlook on life to see changes with my dieting. If you've dieted a lot in the past your body resists giving up the fat because it has starved before, so it can take awhile to finally see results. You may need to re-educate your body to let lose weight. Just a suggestion , there is a lot of websites that can help you determine if you too have a problem with carbs.

Hi Shazam,
Thanks for the advice. I too am addicted to carbs. I eat low fat and try to balance carbs. I don't entirely agree with eliminating an entire food group from your diet and my doctor agrees. Of course, I try to eat less of them, and balancing it all with exercise. Right now nothing is working. I went to the doctors and the test for my thyroid came back normal so that is not in. My doctor wants to see me again this week. She thinks stress could be contributing too. See, my dad passed away last September very unexpectedly and my Mom is not herself. Then, there is work and more work, and more work..Even though I am frustrated, I'll keep at it and hope something changes soon.

Coming up on 25lbs lost. Started out @ 242, goal is 160 (5'-11") I'd be happy with 170. Some days are a real struggle. I too seem to crave the carbs. Seeing a nutritionist to lower weight & cholesterol (was @ 300 Down 50 points so far!!!) Using a modified high protein diet. Have noticed that when my carbs go up, the weight does not come off. It has to be at a certain percentage (32%p/40%carb/28%fats) in order for me to lose. When I stick with it, I lose on the average of 2 lbs a week. I have now hit the wall @ 6 mos. so it has been a struggle to stay motivated. Any suggestions?

Hello all, It's nice to have a place to go to with ups and down's on loosing weight, and have a weekly weigh in. I know this isn't Sat, but I am new so I thought I would say hello to everyone and say good luck. My name is Stacey, and I just had a baby girl Jan 16th. I was 210 before being pregnant. I lost 6 lbs during the pregnancy. After having her, I lost 20 lbs the first week,& 30 the next week. I couldn't believe how quick I lost. I was so happy that my little miracle helped me get off some of the weight I have been carring for years. I started dieting and exercising a month ago because I knew that the rest wasn't coming off that easy. The past 2 weeks I lost 8 lbs. I am now down to 162 today. My goal is to loose about another 25 - 30 lbs. So to go on. See you all on Sat.

Finally, I'm going in the right direction. I lost 3 pounds this week. My doctor has signed me up to see a nutritionist, too. I started walking outside yesterday. Spring is here in Maine. I'm also doing aerobic videos, so the change in exercise must be doing something as well as all of the great people here. Thanks for the encouragement. Good luck everyone. Until next Saturday or ICQ me.

Another great week, I lost another 4 pounds. I have 61 pounds left to lose. Maybe that is why I'm losing more than 2 pounds a week right now, which I believe is the healthy way to make sure I keep it off later. How is everyone else doing??

Congrats to everyone who has lost this past week. I have dropped 2 more lbs. with 50 still to go. It,s going to take along time, but all I have is time. I figure if I've been this size for over a year,(215lbs.), what's 9 to 10 months to take it all off.

You guys are doing great! What does it feel like to be under 200? I'm happy though to be under 300. I lost 7 more pound and that brought me to a 51lb total lost. Yeah, I weigh 265! Now only 115 left to go. I don't know how I lost that much this week, I've been a bad girl with my exercises. Oh well, there is next week to improve. My next goal is to reach 250. Wish me luck! Kim

It sounds like everyone is doing great! I just found this site today. I started another diet the first of this year and as of today I have lost 47 pounds. I started at 303 and I am now down to 256. I still have a long way to go. I am just trying to watch calories (1500 per day), I walk about 2 miles a day, and I drink lots of water. Hope to check in with you again next week. Good luck everyone!

Everyone here is doing fantastic!CONGRATS!

I've gained a pound this week, but have lost inch off of my waist, one off of my hips and one off of my chest. Go figure!I'm hoping it's maybe a muscle gain and not water gain due to a monthly visitor(sorry guys). I upped my handweights from 3 lbs to 5 this week and that's been kicking my tail. So now everything above my waist is a size 18 and everything below is a 2x..used to be a flat 3-4xer in the beginning. Exercise has made all the difference.

My husband, son(in a backpack on my husband) and I are thinking about going to Paw-Paw,West Virginia for a 4.4 mile hike next weekend.I'm a little nervous about it..I've done alot of walking but haven't been hikking in awhile.I hope I can keep up!

Don't forget to Spring Forward your clocks! More daylight hours for us all to keep on moovin&groovin!

Well, it's Sunday instead of Saturday, but I am down 2 lbs for the week. Was at a lower weight yesterday and was a total of 4 lbs lost, but I guess that was water weight and got that back today. But a total of 12 lbs the past 4 weeks. Was hoping the numbers would be more. I am at 158 (5ft 6), with a total loss of about 70lbs since last year. 60 of that is from the past 2 1/2 months. Now that I lost all that weight so quickly, I am struggling so hard to get to 135. Never thought that 30 lbs could be so hard to loose. But now I have 22 lbs to go. It's so hard to get up and not see the scale move, but when I look at my picture of 220 lbs, and look in the mirror at 158 it makes me stay on track a little better. I try not to do that often, because it's so hard to look at my self at that weight and wonder how I got that way. Congrats to all of your determination and sticking to your guns on getting fit and healthy. That is something I will have to do the rest of my life. Eat good, and exercise. I have always had a weight problem. Been at a size 11 for a long time, then down to a 5 for a while, then just starting gaining, and got clear up to 220, went down to 170 in a little over a month, and then put it back on. So this is something I will have to keep myself doing. Which I don't mind because exercising and eating better makes me feel a lot better. Take care all of you and can't wait till the next weigh in. Hope to be down a lot more next week, and will work real hard this week to get there.

Hi Everyone
Its fantastic that you are all doing so well. This is my 3rd day at this site and I thought it would be great to join in on the weekly weigh in. I started a high protein diet on Feb 1st and didn't do too good at all. The first week I went from 202.5 to 196.5 the following 2 weeks nothing at all. I know I shouldn't complain at least I didn't gain but very discouraging. I then went on another, diet suppervised by a doctor. I started this one on Feb. 21 and as of today April 5 I'm down to 170.3. My goal is to get to 130, still have a long way to go but I don't seem to be getting discouraged as much this time as I did with other diets. I guess it has alot to do with being able to see the weight come off.The only thing that I don't like is all the water I have to drink (hate water) but I guess it is true about what people say if there is any kind of miracle drug, drink etc. its water. Good luck to everyone.Hope you all have a lighter week. Will post my weight next week.

Ladyice.......
I too am wanting to get to about 130-135. I am at 154 right now. Was at 220. The weight came off easy until I got to about 170. It started becoming a struggle. I exercised almost everyday for about an hour, and ate real healthy. I didn't see the scale move for almost a week. Moved a little, and took another week. But the past few days the scale has been good to me again. Your going to hit a slow spell. You can't expect the weight to fall off to quick. If you do, your bound to go back with possible more weight. I have been there a couple times. I'm doing it differantly this time. So when the scale doesn't move, just know that if you keep exercising, and eating right, and drinking water, you will see the results. Good luck to you and see you at the next weigh in.....

I know it's not Sat. but I'm only online at work. After stalling out the scale has moved again. Down to 215!! (Started @ 242) This week has slowed down a bit but I thing that is due to the fact that I added working out with weights to my regular cardio workouts. I guess it'll be a bit before all that lean muscle,(LOL) starts to kick my metabolism in gear. Now if I can just remember to drink more WATER!!!

Hey LindaK..well done!keep it up..you're doing great!

ladyice and sunshine..don't forget that you might be loosing inches as well. I've been plateauing at 218.5 but I've noticed that I'm loosing inches..give that a try?Measure arms, thighs, waist, hips(high and low) and bust...maybe that'll give you a boost. It sure has to me :)

Way to go everyone on their successes!

Hi everyone!
I know it's Friday, but I'm not going near my computer tomorrow..I think I'm going to sleep my calories away all day(Wish I could get someone to babysit my husband and son..and maybe my dream could come true!)Teasin..Anyways,
I am pleased to report that I have lost 3 more lbs this week bringing me to a 37 lbs weight loss(from 253 to 216)and let me tell you..I worked my BEHIND off doing it. I'm not sure I could have another week like this one. I did my weights 3 days this week ,yoga twice and walked 20 miles this week! WE were supposed to go to Paw-Paw to go hikking but it rained so instead we went to Great Falls in Md on the Billy Goat trail and that definatly kicked my toukis(sp?)! It is one of the hardest trails I have ever been on..it's all rock climbing for 2 miles and after that you walk on the c&o tow path for 2 more miles. I thought I was going to die right there! However, I had a great time and I highly recommend it if You're ever in Maryland and happen to have with you sturdy hikking boots, plenty of water,a walking stick, sun block(no shade),strong legs, strong back and no fear of heights(all I had was sunblock and semi strong legs!). sorry to spout off about the hikking..we just got home and it's fresh on my mind :)

Good luck to everyone this coming week.

Way to go all! I lost 4lbs this week. I only got to workout twice due to a weird bout of spring flu. But a loss was a nice surprise after laying in bed for 2 days ill. That brings me to 55lbs lost so far and 111 lbs to go. No problem...that's the attitude, right? Keep up the great work everyone! Smiles, stevekimj "Kim"

I am down 5 1/2 lbs since my weigh in last Sunday. 158 last Sun., 152 1/2 today(Sun), I am sooooo happy. But I don't think I will make my goal of 135 on the 21st which is my birthday. Ohh well. Would be nice to see 140 or close as I can get to it. I to have been doing aerobics 45 mins a day, walking on the treadmill for 1/2 hour 3 days a week, bike 1/2 3 days a week, and working on the waist, butt, and abs for 20 mins a day. I usually take a day or two off of exercising. Depending on how the weight loss is going. I have a day or two of things I am not normally aloud to eat. I had a cheese steak sub, and a homemade big pretzel Sat night for dinner. So I got that out of my system. Started on the Slimfast Fri. The milk choc shakes are not bad at all. Helps me not miss a meal now. I have not been eating a lot of breakfeast or lunches. I try to eat, but some how get busy and forget. I think this will balance me now. I'm not so hungry for dinner now. So that really helps. Lets keep on going to our goals. We are all doing so well to keep motivated, and not letting anything stop us.
Have a terrific weekend.
Stacey

Everyone has had such a great week. Well-done. I didn't have such a good one. No loss this week. But no gain either. But all in all I feel Pretty good, and I am noticing a change in the way my clothes fit. My goal weight is 150-160lbs. I have 40+ to go. I need to really get into my exercise program and stop making excuses not to. Everyone have a great weekend.

pauline, no weight gain is the bright side to look at things, you might have even gained some muscle which replaced the fat. also, chelsea, i drink 64 oz of water a day. actually, i drink more, it gives you a smooth clear complexion, and now i dont even drink soda anymore. well good luck to all and have a safe and healthy weekend.

Hi Everyone,
I know I'm late for the sat. weigh-in. but I do this from work and thank god I don't work weekends. Last time I posted on April 5th at 170.3 and today I'm down to 167.7, 2.6 pounds down. I finally broke that dreaded 170 that has been hanging on for so long. Everyone is doing just fantastic. Keep up the great work and hope we all have a lighter week next week.

Yall are doing so wonderfully. I am not down much this week, only 1lb. My starting weight as of October 99 was 196 and now I'm at 164. Its been slow. By August I'd like to be down to 150. (Im going on a cruise and think I'd look really good at that weight) It seems like such a small goal to me, considering a person can lose 2lbs a week and by August that would put me down to 136. I'm kind of afraid to set such a goal and then if I dont accomplish it, I'll feel like a loser. Im only 5 foot 2 and would eventually love to be down to 125. I used to be 125 in the Air Force and was truly to "die for" (laughing) I'm hoping by xmas that comes true. Think I've babbled on enough, just wanted to participate. thank you all for being here.

Hi Everyone,
I know I'm later than usual, but couldn't get to the computer yesterday. I did very well last week from last Monday I'm down 4.2 pounds which is great. This brings me to 163.5, boy its been a long time since I was able to look down and acually see the scale without something in the way, hehehehe. There hasn't been many posts since the last time I was on. Norma your doing just great and Gayle I'm sure you'll be down in no time. Keep up the good work you two and hope to read a "lighter" reply next week.
