well I had posted my goals for the first week in the 100+ forum...called forming my goals. I intended to to keep a journal of what i ate, when i ate and why i was eating. that was not accomplished:( the exercise goal of working out either a video or 30 minute walk, was partially accomplished. I went for one really good 30 minute walk, half of which was uphill...and went swimming, but that was more leisurely. The last two days i have parked my car a ways from the hospital so that it is about a 13 minute walk. To add a bit to yesterday i took the stairs several times.

Well it hasn't been a total waste of my week, but i know i can do better. I think i will keep the same goal in place for next week, and concentrate more on the food diary because i am working a lot of hours. I pray that i have the energy to do the exercise part as well. By the way the food journal is not part of a diet, its just me getting a realistic view of how much and what types of foods i am really eating so as to make changes in the future.

WELCOME TO JOURNALS......

I have to agree that writing down everything you eat really does give you a better picture. I tend to realize that some how, some way, food finds its way into my body without me even knowing about it. I don't even remember tasting it. All of a sudden I realize I just swallowed something, then quickly remember that I had been chewing. If I write it down I can see what I ate and know what to avoid.

I hope you find success, You WILL BE A LOSER!!!!

Hi brenzG,

I second Maxi on the food journal. In the beginning it really helped me focus on everything I put into my mouth. I use to "taste" food as I was cooking it, but then I realized, how do I account for a taste of this and a taste of that, and when I couldn't, I stopped the tasting! I've lightened up on myself slightly since then, but for the most part I still cook without tasting until the food is measured and on my plate. And it stopped mindless snacking big time!
As far as getting use to exercise, it really helps to find a form you enjoy and will look forward to doing. Then just make an appointment with yourself to do it! After a while it will become habit, but initially, you may have to schedule it to make it happen.

I'll be checking back, nice to "meet" you!:D

Hello and welcome,

Journals really do help. it keeps us honest with ourselves and its a good place to vent and to also make friends and get support and advice.

its funny how when we dont record what we eat how much we really do consume without ever realizing it.

your doing well with exercising and it takes time to break into it. i was a couch potato for yrs and now i love to exercise and look forward to it,. never thought in a million yrs i would ever say that but its now true.

keep your spirits up and take care.
