View Full Version : On my way...............
BlueEyez 07-13-03, 10:08 AM Gonna try this journal thing, hope it to be useful. Today has been 3 months that I have been at it and to date have lost 12 lbs. That is a average of a pound a week. Sure would like to do 2 a week, not quite sure how to get thier though. Been told to eat more, I average1200 a day. Work out 20 min on treadmill 5 days a week along with my 55min Richard Simmons tape any suggestions? Well all have a great day and good luck, its not raining today I'm out of here :)
CathyC1 07-13-03, 11:28 AM I don't know if I can be of much help to you, however, if you are 'averaging' 1200 calories, that would mean some days you are lower than 1200 so I would say that, yes, you do need to eat more. I am eating between 1300-1600 per day (closer to the 1600, believe me!) and I am down more than 4 sizes in jeans in 12 weeks. I don't weigh, but DH figures I've lost close to 40 lbs.
getnfit@38 07-13-03, 02:41 PM Hi BlueEyez,
You are eating rather low in my opinion, but then again I'm not the most balanced person with food!:D
Looking at your exercise, unless you have some medical/physical reasons you cannot do more, you may want to start adding in some more intense workouts. Having a treadmill is great, if it allows you to do inclines or intervals, you should add in a day or 2 of intervals each week. Also, not to shun Richard, but as much as a hoot as he is, he really isn't high intensity, he's great for a light day, but you're probably ready for a bit more challenge by now. You don't have to kill yourself with cardio, but just "pump up" the volume and watch how your body responds! Or keep the same cardio for now, but maybe add some weight training a couple days each week. Our bodies adapt to exercise pretty quickly, so we have to keep our muscles challenged and adding in new workouts, a twist on an existing workout, etc., every so many weeks keeps our routine fresh and our muscles challenged.
Just some thoughts:D
Donna
BlueEyez 07-13-03, 03:02 PM I'll try some new tapes Donna thanx for the advice, but as the treadmill goes I'm doing all I can on that, it is one that utilizes cds to adjust your speed and inclines and at present I am doing a top speed of 4.2 and incline of 6 my heart is a pumpin, believe me but I am accustomed to my tapes. I just love Richard though........don't know why just seems to keep me motivated, any good ones you all might suggest?
Guess eating more calories might help too Cathy........lol only thing is they scare me, its the reason I got this way. LoL......... Never really ate that much until I quit smoking, then I found a new love..........FOOD...LoL.............but soon this to shall pass. I am finding that fruits and veggies can be just as yummy as sweets. Again thanx for the suggestions.
getnfit@38 07-13-03, 06:03 PM Hey BlueEyez,
There are so many great workouts out there it all depends on your personal likes and dislikes. I like intensity, but athletic choreography (dancy stuff messes with my mind too much!) and mixed impacts, so I only dabble in a few instructors.
But if you check out www.collagevideo.com you can read reviews on workouts by others who've used them, and read about the workouts in general.
But some of my favorite instructors are:
Cathe: www.cathe.com (the greatest advanced cardio & weight training workouts)
Powerstrike: www.powerstrike.com ( great kickboxing workouts)
Charlene Prickett: www.charleneprickett.com (great low impact aerobic workouts)
Denise Austin: www.deniseaustin.com ( great low and moderate impact workouts)
And others you can find through collagevideo.com:
-Gilad
-Kathy Smith
-Christi Taylor
-Donna Richardson
-Gin Miller
Hope this helps some!:D

BlueEyez 07-14-03, 10:40 AM Going to do some extra walking this week to hopefully combat the splurging I did over the weekend. But oh what a great weekend it was.........lots and lots of sunshine for a change. Sure do love the summer especially when it's not raining. Have decided to add some weight training into my daily routine to try and up my loss from 1pound to 2 pounds a week. Also going to try and reach my first goal in august, I have not set any as of yet to afraid of letting myself down.
:rose: Goal #1: 167 by 8/14/03
BlueEyez 08-03-03, 09:17 AM Loss is coming slow but sure. Still no real diet plan, just eating sensible. Have considered Atkins but have heard some not so good side affects and dont feel like it is a way of life for me. Not real good at diets anyway, hard to stick to when cooking dinner for my family. So a pound a week is what I will settle for, for now. From the looks of my stats my goal is not going to happen:( If only I could lose 2#'s a week oh well..................
getnfit@38 08-03-03, 09:38 AM Hey BlueEyez,
What are you doing for exercise? And how often? It's not easy to lose 2#/week unless you're really making some conscious efforts with both eating and vigorous exercise. 1# is do-able with moderate attention to both, but 2 is a different story.
Are you doing any resistance training (weights) at all, if so, how many times per week? And if you can get your cardio up to 6x/week that helps with speeding up weight loss, but again, it depends on time and intensity. There's a difference between walking 30 minutes (not to put down walking) and power walking, sprinting or doing intervals for 60 minutes.
So if you can break down what you're doing for exercise I'm sure we can give you some suggestions for increasing the burn.
But remember, never mind slow progress~slow and steady wins the race!:D And you're doing just great!
Donna
BlueEyez 08-03-03, 10:07 AM My walking is on a ifit treadmill, which adjusts your speed and incline for you. I use many of their cds. The top speed reaches 4mph with highest incline of 10 I would say the average is 3.5 at an incline of 5%. I do this 30min a day 5 days a week along with 55 min of aerobics, 5 days per week I take the weekends off, usually get enuff excersise running around doing things with the family. I do some weight training 3 days a week for my arms and legs, not alot only 3 sets @ 10 reps, very light weights.
monicapink 08-03-03, 11:23 AM Hi there,
You're doing JUST GREAT ...... don't be SO HARD ON YOURSELF.
You know we're always putting such high expectations on ourselves ..... and when we :tomato: because they aren't happening as quickly as we feel they should ---- we :whip: ourselves which does nothing to our self-esteem.
BE PATIENT AND KIND TO YOURSELF .... your weight loss is just that A LOSS It took you and I time to put the weight on .... so we need TO GIVE OURSELVES TIME TO LOSE THE WEIGHT.
It will happen BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. So put a smile on your face ..... and make it a great day. Always, Monica :wn
BlueEyez 08-03-03, 12:24 PM Thank you for your advice Monica, I sometimes like to try and rush things. I forget to pat myself on the back and be happy with the weight I have already lost. I have not gained any since starting, worse case has only been no loss. So indeed a hug to me is in order..lol...I need to remember I did not get this way overnite, and that I accomplished a major goal by quitting the cigarettes so this should be alot easier. Smoke free 1yr 8 months today......Yipee... Just wanted to say thank you.
monicapink 08-03-03, 03:38 PM My gosh yes indeed you deserve A GIANT PAT ON THE BACK FOR QUITTING SMOKING :cheer: I too gave up smoking .... which I did for 37 years .... but it again was a question of HAVING TO ... TO EXTEND THE QUALITY OF LIVING.
I have a question .... how long have you maintained your weight ....(in other words stayed the same) a month, two months? Let me know and I have an idea that was suggested to me by a dietitian whose chat I participated in at another weight loss site. I have suggested it to others and they succeeded in getting off their plateaus ......
I know what it is like to be frustrated in not losing weight .... especially when you have focused on your weight loss plan, exercise regimen and water intake. Let me know and I will put it in your Journal.
Another suggestion NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF .... YOU AND I HAVE THE POWER AND ABILITY TO ACHIEVE ANY GOAL WE SET FOR OURSELVES ..... THERE SHOULD BE NO TIME LIMIT ON YOUR SUCCESS.
You have done WONDERFULLY ..... AND YOU WILL CONTINUE TO SUCCEED . You have to like yourself be your own best friend ... so since there is no smilie for awards .... I hereby grant you this :rose: to indicate all the positives you have achieved. As always, Monica :wn
BlueEyez 08-04-03, 07:41 AM I dont really feel I am at a plateau just yet pink, I either stay the same or lose a pound each week since beginning in April, I have only had over that twice. Wish I knew what I had done differently to keep things going at that pace. I could reach my goal if I could only lose 1.78 pounds per week. I'm really starting to think I need to restrict my diet more, but I really dont eat a whole lot, I use fitday to help track calories and my average is 1500, (meaning some days are less and some days may be a little more) I just am not sure. Maybe one of these plans I read about be just the ticket I need..........but until I'm ready to commit 100% I will stay where I am at for moment, because I hate to fail and I am seeing slow progress for now. Thanks for caring...........I see the doctor the 14th and going to ask her for any ideas? Good luck with your plan you are doing wonderfully you should be so proud, I see you are a WW, that may be a thought for me.....:) Later, off to do my workout, I find I have better luck if I do it first thing in morning before my brain can wake up and realize what I am doing to my body, LoL:D
BlueEyez 08-05-03, 09:44 AM Good Morning , Today is going to be a GREAT DAY! I can just feel it the sun is shining I woke up with a song in my heart soooooooo how can I be wrong. Burned off 523 calories this morning between my gazelle and treadmill. Took me an 1hr and 15 min whewie............... Think I must have lost a few pounds watching grandaughter too.........boy oh boy she is just a bundle of energy wish we could put it in a bottle. Lol
Gonna work on my diet this week see if I cant squeeze an xtra pound out of me by next week.
3egg white omlette w/ slice of tomato and a bannana, I have a hard time eating breakfast and people have been telling me over and over it is a must so I will give it a shot. And Monica if you are reading this CONGRATS to you tooo for quitting smoking I forgot to Hug you the other day and tell you that. Off to check in with my awesome buddies and get this day in gear. Laterzzzzzzzzz
BlueEyez 08-05-03, 02:54 PM Did pretty good for lunch today..........Fat free cottage cheese, half of a pear, chunk chicken........240 calories,,,,now if can behave at dinner......Also have put 3 mi on my pedometer since put on after excersising this morning. My goal is to have minimum of 5 miles on it by days end...........
sophie44 08-05-03, 02:58 PM Hey there Blue, fellow AA! Just stopping in to say hi. I just started my journal also, I think it will help alot, so best of luck to you, and see ya in the buddie group.
monicapink 08-05-03, 06:24 PM Hi Blue Eyez,
I have a question .... how many calories are you allowing yourself? I realize you are losing weight to your own plan ... but it really is ESSENTIAL THAT YOU HAVE ENOUGH CALORIES AND NUTRITIONAL NEEDS in order to lose weight.
I don't know if you use www.fitday.com, but I find it a fantastic site to determine whether or not I am meeting my caloric and nutritional needs. The one thing I learned at another weight loss site is NEVER TO GO BELOW 1200 CALORIES DAILY. Make it a great day. As always, Monica :wn
BlueEyez 08-07-03, 09:36 AM Been mixing up my routine a bit and tracking my food intake a bit better hope to see some results. Another no show on scale yesterday:( Better than a gain I guess but this is supposed to be weight loss..........not maintenance..LoL.....anyway I will keep pluggin away, however my first goal there looks like the impossible dream now.....Thank you to all of you who support me its really alot easier with buddies to share your accomplishments and disappointments with.
Goal #1: 167 by 8/14/03
monicapink 08-07-03, 11:12 AM Dear Blue,
As disappointed as you may be for not having shown a loss ..... how about looking at the positives in your journey ....
In 10 months you are 33 pounds closer to your goal ......
I am offering this suggestion to you to get you off your plateau .... it was given to me by a dietitian at the weight loss site I belonged to previous to coming to Diettalk .....
It is called THE PLATE METHOD you are to use it for one week and ONLY AT DINNER TIME. You are to eat your regular breakfast and lunch meals ....
AT DINNER TIME TAKE A LARGE DINNER PLATE:
FILL ONE HALF OF THE PLATE WITH VEGETABLES (except PEAS AND CORN); AND
FILL ONE QUARTER OF THE PLATE WITH PROTEIN (either chicken, fish or turkey .... approx. 4 oz.); AND
FILL ONE QUARTER OF THE PLATE WITH STARCH (either pasta, potato or brown rice).
If you find this is not filling take another large dinner plate fill it with dark leafy lettuce (I use Romaine), lots of raw vegetables (cucumber, cauliflower, radishes, carrots, green pepper, raw squash) and use a Rice Vinegar or Balsamic Vinegar as a salad dressing.
After the week ... go back to your regular menu plan.
You have to BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF ... TREAT YOURSELF AS YOU WOULD YOUR BEST FRIEND ....., we all want to lose weight quickly ...... forgetting we didn't gain our weight quickly. Make it a great day. As always, Monica
BlueEyez 08-07-03, 04:46 PM Thank you for the advice on the plate idea Monica, looks easy enuff...........hey i might even be able to do that one right..LoL......and my stats read wrong, I just recently got back on the Diet trak, April 14th to be exact, I kinda fell of the diet bus over the holidays, but vow to do it right this time..:)
monicapink 08-07-03, 05:00 PM Blue,
Remove ALL DOUBTS ABOUT YOUR SUCCESS FROM YOUR HEAD.
I am a firm believer that our WORDS NEED TO BE POSITIVE TO ACHIEVE ANYTHING WE WANT TO IN LIFE.
In my opinion, the moment we use words like WISH, HOPE MAYBE, WOULD LIKE, CAN'T or WON'T , we are implying that we are something less than what we are.
There is nothing I REPEAT NOTHING in this world we cannot achieve ..... BUT WE HAVE TO GIVE OURSELVES TIME AND PATIENCE TO SUCCEED .... TO TREAT OURSELVES WITH RESPECT AND KINDNESS .
The road we travel is ONLY AS DIFFICULT AS WE CHOOSE TO MAKE IT ..... I know that you will succeed in losing your weight in a healthy and permanent way. Make it a great day. As always, Monica :wn
BlueEyez 08-11-03, 09:44 AM Monday, Yuck.........LoL:blah: weekends go by way tooooo fast, especially walking around a hundred or so miles through every mall up and down the east coast looking for the "right" cell phone......lol well thats what hubby and i did this weekend. monicapink 08-12-03, 12:17 PM Dear Blue,
OUR SUCCESS IS DETERMINED BY OUR FOCUS AND COMMITMENT You know you will succeed ..... YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN YOUR ABILITY TO SUCCEED ...... you have the ability and power to make your journey what you want it to be.
Make it a great day ..... I will be checking on you again .... As always, Monica :wn

Hang in there, friend. There is nothing wrong with "maintaining" or gaining a few lbs. And you did go to the fair. Just stick to doing what you know you should be doing, and eventually the weight will start to drop off again.
And keep smiling - life is good, really.
:D
Thanks for visiting my journal.
BlueEyez 08-21-03, 07:38 AM Finding this journal is like a scavenger hunt...LoL....think i need to buy one of them key finder thingies so i can find it easier.
Well.........good news lost 3#'s this past week, so it evens things out now for my 1.5# gain last week.
Got an email from nutritionist last evening..........still havent started to take the xenical, but after reading her info i do believe i will start on monday. Going to do a bit more research but it really looks like is a plausable option.
Sure wish fitday would stay up and running I absolutely love the site, however they seem to be down more than up.......maybe a home program available or another site. Gotta get at it almost time for work out, just needed to jot down a few thing to keep me pluggin along.........lol ...if someone reads this please say hello as I feel I am talking to myself at moment:o

I just got back from a chat room with LindaSue........a chat room imagine that I had no idea. What a wonderful lady she is I really enjoyed talking and learning more about the site with her. Gosh sometimes I just feel so ancient when it comes to computers...lol
Got some fantastic tips from the nutritionist tonite going to use the recommended diet for the Xenical but skip the pill. I can do this without them. My loss may be slow but it is "My Loss", and a healthy loss....I WILL DO this without pills:) Had quite a busy day, groceries, last minute school shopping. and errands with daughter......pretty beat so gonna turn in after check in with my buddies at the accountables.

My arms have so much definition......and my legs.......WoW I am totally pleased with them. Now to get some sort of waist line going on. Been reading some good books that have wonderful dieting tips in it. Will finish yesterdays menu when fitday gets back on line. I am very pleased with myslelf however.:o The light is starting to come in at the end of the tunnel. Read somewhere that the caffienne in Green Tea frees up fatty acids so you can burn fat more easily, so I will have a cup each morning with my breakfast....sure cant hurt me..LoL

JoThrive 08-27-03, 11:26 AM You are looking mighty good there, BlueEyez. And remember that even if the weight comes off slowly, you are at the same time making yourself much healthier by eating what you are eating. And that is important, too.
I am also wondering about the green tea. Let us know what you think, please.
Keep smiling -

JoThrive 08-28-03, 11:14 AM I loved your home remedies, and will treasure them, BlueEyes.
Thanks for stoping by my journal. You asked me how long it took me to get to goal. I began with the Richard Simmons program of diet and exercise on January 1, 2000. I went from 196.5 lbs. to 150 lbs. by October of 2000. Then I hit a plateau until May 1, 2003. I started controlled my carbs better and dropped an additional 10 lbs. since May 1. That will probably be it for me. I watch my weight like a hawk, but I am quite comfortable where I am.
I enjoy breakfast. When you get used to eating it you probably will too.
Keep smiling - and good luck to you.
sophie44 08-28-03, 12:05 PM Blue~oh my word, your post was so funny! I really needed that, thanks for sharing those home remedies!!!

monicapink 08-29-03, 01:26 PM Hi Blue Eyez,
Just stopping by to say hello .... I hope you have a fantastic Labor Day weekend ...
You are doing great  Take care. As always, Monica  :wn
BlueEyez 08-30-03, 09:26 AM I am so proud of myself:o Last evening son made a D'Girno Stuffed crust pizza( My favorite), and I turned it down. That lil temptation devil :lil: was on my shoulder just poking and proding but I held my ground. This was about 7:30 in the evening, I had already eaten dinner and if I was to have anything it had better be lite. Anyway I went to my fitday page checked calories for day and it would have put me over my calorie intake for the day by almost 300 not to mention high fat. I pondered and pondered, told myself so many days I don't even eat the whole 1400 calorie, then all of a sudden it hit me. Stop I told myself, it is this senseless mindless eating that will sabotoge me. I immediately left the kitchen, watched a few tv programs and went to bed. I feel wonderful this morning:cheer: . I am in control and I will do this:o

JoThrive 08-30-03, 09:36 PM Refusing the temptation of the pizza is wonderful. Get that temptation devil off your shoulder. Banish him! Tell him to scram permanently.
We just gotta keep trying, a day at a time. And remember that we are making ourselves healthier, which is so important.
And keep smiling, that is important too.
BlueEyez 08-31-03, 11:21 AM Did well eating yesterday, went over by 16 calories, not to bad at all. JoThrive 09-05-03, 09:57 AM Hi, Blue. You are sure keeping busy. I noticed that you stopped smoking a year plus ago. Good for you. I'm a former smoker myself. But even though stopping smoking was difficult, I believe that eating in order to lose weight is much more difficult. When a person quits smoking, that's it! But I still eat three meals a day, and just that eating makes me want to eat more. :c(
Three and a half lbs. down is great. Good for you. Takes a lot of effort, but sure feels good when you see results.
But anyway, have fun with your son's birthday. Birthdays are always great milestones.
Keep smiling -
monicapink 09-05-03, 10:44 AM Good Morning Blue,
Your son's birthday is a very special event ..... one to be shared and enjoyed.
Being on a weight loss program takes some planning ... YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO ENJOY SPECIAL EVENTS IN YOUR LIFE ... WITHOUT GUILT OR FEELING YOU HAVE TO DEPRIVE YOURSELF because some events WILL NEVER BE REPEATED.
You are doing :super: ..... we all have to learn to EAT HEALTHY TO LIVE AND NOT LIVE TO EAT. None of us gained our weight quickly ..... so by taking it ONE DAY AT A TIME .. ONE MEAL AT A TIME .... WE WILL AND CAN SUCCEED Take care of yourself and make it a great weekend. As always, Monica

monicapink 09-09-03, 10:44 AM Blue,
Just a couple of suggestions ... start writing down the caloric and nutritional information of your custom foods and the foods that are your basics (used daily) so that you will have the info handy when Fitday is not operative.
Or, purchase a calorie book .. i.e. The Complete Book of Food Counts ........ that lists caloric and nutritional information.
If you know where you are going out to eat .... and they display their menu ... you can plan your meal. I understand how it is to miss your husband .... but think how pleased he will be :D when he comes home and hears about your success while he's been away. Make it a great day. As always, Monica :wn:

Just wanted to give you a little BUMP of encouragement...and hey, maybe it will be easier to find your journal. :D I know you are not feeling too good while DH is away. Are you worried about something or is it just missing him? As much as I complain about DH's little snores, I must admit I don't sleep very good without them. Ya gotta eat well and take care of yourself though sweets, so you will be healthy and ready to frolic and play fun games when he comes back!!!! :o hee hee...sorry, but I had to be a little naughty there to cheer you up!

Well, who made it Monday again:( I am not having a good day. Woke up feeling stiff and tired (guess didnt sleep to well .......didnt get to talk to hubby last evening) We did email each other a few times but I took a friend out for dinner and when got back he was out to dinner so I went to bed, whats a gal to do:shrug: . Anyway, got my new fangled scale, (shoulda kept the old one) LOL it weighs you in in 1/10 of a pound increments my other only did in 1/2 pounds. And it does the fat percentage thingy. Anyway BAD NEWS all my splurging caught up with me........168.4 up by 4/10ths lol I could say no gain or loss if used my other scale but then I be lying to no one but me. But the fat thing really has me baffled.............my BMI is no longer obese(i am now moderately overweight0...that has a nice ring to it:o anyway this dayum scale says 37.2% body fat........WOW whats up with that is the fat percentage the same as BMI, now i feel like a cow.........mmmmmoooooooooooooooo. When will I learn to just leave things be. Chose grillled teriyaki salmon with apricot sauce last evening, herbed rice and veggie medley with a salad. Fitday is still down so dont know if was good choice or not. On the lighter side my friend had an eclair and I had coffee so was good there. I will do better next week.:o I hope.

I am trying to use the alone time to do workouts, read and bake/cook...okay okay maybe the last combo I shouldn't do...but I send it to work with Hicks, so its out of my way! Oh question...the calcium chews...do you like them? I need to take a calcium pill/chew, not sure what to try.

I didnt sleep very well last night either. I was SO cold that I couldnt move to get another blanket, isnt that pathetic? lol
Happy that your hubby is coming home. I surely did feel alone on the planet when my hubby went to Chicago.
I dont know the diff between the BMI and body fat either. But, I am happy to say I am no longer morbidly obese. I am just severly obese LOL
I dont understand why fitday is down for you. I have been using mine. I wonder if it has something to do with cookies.
I like that site because is shows your daily nutrition. I even put as a recipe my daily B-Complex Vitamins. When I take one, I plug that in the menu also.
Well, if you dont post this evening we will know why,,,, hubby is homeeeeee!
Have a good day!

BlueEyez 09-15-03, 10:07 AM Monday, September 15th
What a weekend it was totally unreal. As I mentioned earlier, hubby was away on a business trip and came back Thrusday evening......Was totally and absouloutely ecstatic to see him again. What I didnt expect was his revelations. He has been courting me all weekend. WoW! I feel like a kid again. He took me on a date Saturday evening, I had no idea thought we was just going to mall. Dinner and a movie all planned by him. And the sweetest thing was while we was waiting for dinner to arrive he grabbed my hand and told me had forgotten how pretty I was. I felt like a high school girl, I could feel myself blush. What a wonderful weekend. It was the same whole weekend long. I wish it didnt have to end. But boy for a monday I am walking around here with a song in my heart today. On to business.......Eating out is always difficult, but I was proud to say that I am learning to make good choices when away. Had a small steak( filet), mixed veggies, green beans w/roll and unsweetended tea on Saturday. For breakfast I had a cinnamon raisin bagel with 1 scrambled egg, 4 cups coffee, lunch was grilled chicken salad no dressing. I went a tad over on the calories... I believe was 1548 but stayed just under the recoomended 30%fat intake for the day. was 29% to be exact but for eating out I felt was quite well.
Sunday I had a slimfast for breakfast 2 cups of coffee, and grill chicken sandwich w/let tom and honey mustard w/ small fries:( but they was yummy...lol also a bannana and popcorn for snacks. Total calories was right at 1100 with 23% fat for day.

I really need to stop skipping meals, it tends to make me eat later in evening and make not so good choices, didnt do to bad yesterday, within fat calories, but total for day was almost over 100. Kind of defeats the xtra 30 mins of excersise I got in last evening on gazelle. So a goal to me will be stay within calories and stop skipping meals............if to busy grab a slimfast. Today is a bright and brand new day so I will only look ahead............ Workout was fantastic did gazelle and treadmill calories burned=610!

Excellent work out this morning. Got the firm last evening did the body sculpt portion(45 min), in additon to 30 min on treadmill. The choreography is tuff, dont know if this will work or not. Promise to give a fair chance though. Weather is not lookin so good today. School is dismissing 2hrs early and closed tommorow. I pray most of the rain passes by, kinda scared......no flood insurance and live on the river. Fortunately not on banks but none the less its very close. I will be saying a few prayers today for myself and everyone affected by this massive storm.

BlueEyez 09-20-03, 03:06 PM Friday, September 19th
Weathered the storm quite well, developed a few leaks in the roof from the wind and rain but nothing major. Our whole area did quite well. Worse part was out of power for 12+ hours. Did not work out this morning due to no power. Did alot of miscellaneous clean up so that had to account for some excersise. Then later on in the evening hubby took me out to get my birthday present. Silly man hates to buy for me...always takes me to pick out what I want. We had a very nice evening together. Eating was actually quite well too. Ate breakfast out and went out to this quaint little place for the best salads in the world.
Breakfast: Forgot vitamins this morning with all the commotion of no power. Think not having coffee waiting on me when I awoke was what caused this memory lapse...LoL went to denny's had one of their slim fare breakfasts. 2eggbeaters, 2 pancakes w/blueberries, slice of ham..4 cups of coffee...........YUM Cal=

JerbearRN 09-20-03, 04:52 PM Hey BlueEyez,
I can relate to skipping meals. I've been doing low fat for awhile now, and my appetite has decreased. If I get busy at work, it can be a chore to make the time to eat. What I do is take a snack in with me (high fiber) and have that at 10-11 PM. That helps to curb the hunger, and help me make it to lunch and make sane eating decisions.
Also, this works on low fat, but it's kind of high in sugar. Tried the Yoplait "nouriche". It's a yogurt smoothie, fortified with vitamins. As a non yogurt lover, it was pretty good. Might be better than a slim fast. I've heard lots of people (me include) have not so pleasant intestinal problems from it.
Keep on going kiddo!
Jerry
bird songs 09-21-03, 11:50 AM Good Morning JavaBlue... [_]3 here is your coffee my friend lol
Oh my are you really doing the FIRM? Sounds like a strict regime haha
Darn it I really ACTUALLY like exercising... Now make my body mind me! lol
I still walk a bit. I sit on that GIANT BALL and rolly polly around.
What will I do with my flabby arms if I cant lift weights anymore... wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..
I was thinking today how all along I have been finding nutritions that I lack and am fortifying myself. Now, when I need it most [body acting up], I wont eat... YEAH buddy that makes sense to me ..lol
I hope you have a great day today, Java...
Your journal is getting so colorful. Pretty soon we will come in here and you will have hang curtains. hehehe

My gosh its Wednesday already.................I didnt come in yesterday.......to busy. And that is no excuse I should never be to busy to just stop in for a quick note. Anyway that was yesterday no reason to dwell on something I can't change. Its today a new day.........A reason to celebrate, not only am I down 2 pounds but I am at my half way point...........Im just beaming:D So all this sweatin is payin off....LoL I really think the most amazing thing has been learning to eat. My god I would eat once a day and wondered how could I be so heavy. Uhm well I now realize that 4 hotdogs, potato salad and a 2 liter pepsi is more than 1 meal. I am now eating 3 nutritious meals a day now right at 1400 calories(give or take), and even healthy snacks. I am becoming more creative in ways to cut fat out of my diet without even realizing I am doing it. Yea me .....LoL Im sure glad we turned that light on. I realize I havent slacked any at tracking my food intake, its just with fitday being down so much I didnt post here, but I update when they get on line again, and I have done well........even on birthday I enjoyed low fat dessert and stayed at calorie budget.

monicapink 09-24-03, 01:21 PM Sandie,
You are doing FANTASTIC. Although many will disagree with me .... I still believe that losing weight is only as hard as we make it on ourselves. Losing weight takes time, patience and each one of us is WORTH THE TIME AND PATIENCE IT TAKES. Make it a great day and way to go on your half-way mark..
As always, Monica

Everything seems to be moving along nicely for me lately. Sure hope old Mr.Murphy dont pay me a visit anytime soon. Did some added workouts last evening. Upper body workout with the FIRM, and went for a walk with my grandaughter, bout 30 minutes, lol her little legs get tired pretty quick and if Grammy has to carry her to far, then Grammy's little legs get tired too..HA HA :D Going out for dinner with a friend this evening so I am on my good behavior with food today. I most likely will have fish........it always seems to be a good choice, so long as it is not fried. 500+ calorie burn this morning running the ole treadmill. Found a great alternative to my diet sodas yesterday, a new water called Aqua Cal ....great taste, no calories and added vitamins C and Calcium. Best of all no bloat as with the soda!

Went out for dinner last night with my girlfriend, did great I am happy to say, picking the right things to eat when I go out is getting easier and easier. Really kewl thing happened before we left, seen somebody I had'nt seen in a good bit and they said "Wow! you look fantastic, have you lost weight?" Proudly I said yes! That is the second person in the past week.weeeeeeeeeeee......the general public is starting to see now too.......its not just in my head....lol! And to top this all off, I got bold and went to my storage closet and pulled out a pair of size 12 jeans.........drum roll please...Ta DA! yea buddy I slipped the right on. BlueEyez 09-27-03, 09:49 AM Saturday, September 27th
My this month has just flown by. My baby will be 14 next week..........shhhh don't let him hear me say that. He is lifting weight after school, and is really starting to develop some nice muscles. Now if only the coach could convince him to eat better foods. Did well with eating yesterday however can't ever finish the day as fitday, always goes down on me. I am thinking about getting that program I saw for windows. Just not sure if it is any good, but for $40 bucks it may be worth a shot. Worked my butt off last evening......did the FIRM body sculpt plus the ab sculpt. Slept like a baby too...........lol I fell asleep so fast it was unreal, and woke very refreshed. My legs and tummy a bit sore from the work out this morning though. Thank goodness it is Saturday, my resting day.....lol. i need to work at getting in my water intake again I have really slacked off. Tried some flavored water which is excellent however I am still lacking in my intake each day.
Breakfast: 5 cups of coffe, English muffin w/egg and ham, calcium chew and multivitamin Cal = 311
Lunch: OoPs...............forgot shame on me did manage to get a bananna in though.......Cal= 93
Dinner: Homemade pizza on sundried tomato flatbread, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, 2%mozeralla,turkey pepperoni, diet coke Cal= 445
monicapink 09-27-03, 10:26 AM Good Morning Sandie,
Just a suggestion ..... rather than spending money on flavored water .... put a slice of lemon or lime or orange with a sprig of mint in your glass of ice water .... gives it a unique taste .....
I find if I drink a 12 oz glass of water before I eat each meal .... and a full glass of water with my meal it is a quick and easy way to insure I get my total water intake .
Lucky you to have a young person in your home ... I genuinely miss the noise and the activity ..... :sigh: of having growing children .... I would even take the foolish arguments and the typical complaints  of siblings. Make it a great day. Take care and have and make it a fantastic weekend. As always, Monica
sophie44 09-27-03, 11:41 AM Blue I am so happy for you, its always nice when others notice how far you have come. I also want to let you know I am so happy you love the FIRM, I can't wait till knee is back up to par and I can start up again, I really enjoy them also. SO what do you think about the fanny lifter? Its evil huh?!
ivoryrose 09-29-03, 11:56 PM Hi Bluesy buddy! Just stoppin by to do a little dance and say hello!!!! :dn Sorry I have been so busy lately and not posting like usual. But, I'm thinking about you all! :D
BlueEyez 09-30-03, 09:59 AM Tuesday, September 30th
Thanks for the visit IV, always nice to have company. I haven't been here in awhile. I need to get out of this funk. It is getting cold here already and I know what is to follow. You see I am a Florida gal and have never adjusted to the winters here. They get me depressed and cold.....not to mention FAT! I have come so far and don't want to slip, but I have actually found myself doing so already, for instance eating a late nite bowl of cereal or having seconds......it has been nothing major yet however I am seeing old patterns beginning to surface.1744 calories yesterday with 13% coming from fat day before not much better 1455 with 21% coming from fat.!!! My workout this morning wasn't even what it shoulda........coulda been but I really pushed my self through the whole thing, I did not enjoy it at all. I am really mad at myself at the moment and at times can be my own worst enemy, I just pray I can find what it takes to keep going forward.......I have to get youngest boy to docs this morning, he may have strep throat........I am hoping getting out may help. I haven't had my own way around now for 2 weeks and that is quite annoying having to always count on someone for a ride. They say car wont be ready for another couple weeks:( and by then the snow will be flying and I just dont drive in the winter.......so I will be stuck again till spring:c( . Havent had any breakfast yet, will go see what looks good. Try to come back later on
sophie44 09-30-03, 11:21 AM Blue~I see that your "blue" today. AS I was ready your post I did some thinking. We all have our bad days, that is so true. You have been doing WONDERFUL! I would, don't want to take my word, go back and re-read your posts here and on the AA's thread. I did just that, and boy if you go back, you will be amazed at how well you are doing! So, do what I did, and check out how hard you have been working, you will see how far you have come!
BlueEyez 10-01-03, 10:15 AM Wednesday, October 1st

So hard to believe we are already into a new month..........time is just flying by. Soon it will be a new year.........and that is when I chose to be at goal, so I better get cracking:whip: So today is a new day and despite the cold and rain I will find something to do to keep me out of a frump...........any suggestions......LOL Excersise went well this morning 611 calories burned. monicapink 10-01-03, 01:13 PM Hi Sandie,
CONGRATULATIONS ON HAVING LOST THAT ONE POUND OF BLUBBER :cheer: Sure I have a suggestion LOL ... start planning your menu's and activities for the week ... make yourself A LOSING WEIGHT TO DO LIST. I do that every Wednesday .... adding different things to make sure I don't feel as though I am in a "proverbial rut".
You are doing so well .... time to start thinking about getting some new duds .... SO PLEASED AND PROUD OF YOUR SUCCESS .... As always, Monica
Gillian 10-01-03, 03:41 PM Blue, your are doing amazing woman. You are my inspiration, when I get on and read all the exercising that you are doing it makes me get my butt up and do some also.
Just wanted to thank you for your inspiration and also your kind words whenever anyone needs them.
Mind over Matter, I just keep thinking it's just mind over matter.
Take care.
BlueEyez 10-01-03, 05:54 PM Thank you Gillian, those are very kind words. If I can give back just a piece of what everyone here has given then I feel good in that. I absolutely count on each and everyone of the folks here at diet talk. Even though I dont correspond with them all, I have read some pretty amazing stories, and gotten alot of motivation just reading through the posts.
Monica, Thanks for the cheer.....lol I can always count on you. Great piece of advice too! I think I will try and do that.:)
Aria, Thank you also, means alot having such wonderful supporters. I looked for your journal and didnt find it this morning, either I was sleepy or just need stronger glasses...LoL

BlueEyez 10-03-03, 09:08 AM Friday, October 3rd
My, my the frost was definitely on the pumkins this morning. My roof is covered with the stuff, and the furnace is running full blast! A very cold 18 degrees this morning.........a good day to stay in bed, which I didn'e even though I could have kids out of school today. I faithfully drug myself up to my workout room and put in my cd and started to walk. Not as hard a routine as normal but nonetheless I did it. I used 3- 20 min workouts instead of 2 - 30 min routines, so calorie burn was a bit less at 567. My eatitng was horrible last night. I was like a little squirrel gathering up nuts for the winter. All I did was snack snack snack! 1985 calories.....sheesh that is almost twice what my daily limit is , the fat was only at 12% cuz I was making healthy choices you know...........LMAO what a joke, I have no idea what I was thinking. Now today the picture is crystal clear..........no one was home for dinner last night so I got the night off in the kitchen and looking back today a measley serving of spaghettios for dinner is what did it...............well that and my more than willing mouth. Not going to dwell, going to just do better today! I am off to make a nice hot bowl of Oatmeal for breakfast. Will come back later for some more posting.................
aria2000 10-03-03, 09:15 AM Hello BlueEyes!
I know that feeling of the "little squirrel gathering up nuts for the winter" soooo well!
Yesterday (and the day before, lol, I was snacking a lot too).
But we can all do it!
Today is another day :)
BlueEyez 10-03-03, 10:52 AM Yummmmmmmmmmm! I think oatmeal is one of the things I like about winter. OMG, I actually said I liked something about the dadburn season!
Thanks for sharing your harvest story too Aria, makes it seem a little less frenzified.!!HA HA
monicapink 10-03-03, 10:58 AM Good Morning Sandie,
Just stopped by to say hello ..... have and make it a fantastic weekend. Our goals are achieved by our focus and commitment .... and you WILL SUCCEED because you are showing both focus and commitment ..... keep  the good work. As always, Monica
BlueEyez 10-10-03, 09:56 AM OmG, I have been AWOL for a week! I have been dealing with some teen issues, so that is why. I am beginning to feel more like myself today. Gets very difficult sometimes, but through it all the love and caring from family and friends has helped me get by day to day. Eating has definitely had it's ups and downs, but I did stay focused enough to stay with my excersise, actually found my workouts were more intense on days that I was really stressed. A pound loss was a welcome sign on the 8th.....so I am still progressing. Just searching for my journal after a week is enuff to make me come and at least put a date in it....LoL
BlueEyez 10-10-03, 11:43 PM Had a wonderful day/evening. workout was shabby this morning, and did not get another in this evening like I had anticpated. Hubby took off work early and took me out for dinner and some shopping. He bought me 2 fiber optic christmas villages, 1 is a ski slope the other a ginger bread village. I collect these, think that is the best thing about winter is decorating for the holidays. I absolutely love decorating. I also picked my grandaughter up a Rudolph water globe (she is rudolph crazy...lol just like her grammy). So good to feel content again, sure hope this lasts.
Gillian 10-11-03, 06:08 AM Wow, thinking of Christmas already. I am never really into the holidays, now that the kids are older. I am hoping to start shopping early this year and then I shouldn't be such a b*tch around the holiday season.
I know what you mean about exercise releaving some of that stress. As soon as I'm stressed out or mad I start cleaning like a maniac. I have to keep moving and cleaning is what I normally do sometimes for days on end. Everything gets organized and tons of stuff gets thrown out. I don't know why I do this, but my house always looks better after I've been p*ssed off.
You are doing really amazing, keep up the good work.
Jill
BlueEyez 10-11-03, 08:05 AM Satruday, October 11th
Well, Good Morning Gillian..........you an early riser like me I see:) . Not really that I think about Christmas this early, but they start putting things out earlier and earlier. And the bargains were good so why not........lol right. Anyway, the shopping and crowd fussing isn't my style either. I enjoy home and family during these times. The sights, the sounds, the smells...........ah I can hardly wait. I usually make silly gifts for hubby. It's all in the giving of the gift rather than the gift itself. I am hoping to get my grandaughter today............I want to take her to the Autumn Glory parade. Hope daughter didn't have any plans. Going to finish up my coffee here and go up for a walk....................
sophie44 10-11-03, 07:29 PM Hope you get granddaughter and you have a great time at parade, it sounds fun. Your night with hubby sounds so nice! I love Christmas decorations also..not as much as Autumn decorations, but almost! LOL
Oh Christmas! Oh how I love Christmas! :D
Now that I have the grand babies it is even more special, as I see it through their eyes!!!!!!!!
I just love to decorate the house, knowing how much they will enjoy it.

Had a great weekend with my grandaughter and youngest son, we spent the day together shopping, and doing autumn glory festivities, weather cooperated also it was just beautiful. Went out to my pond this morning and it was nearly empty :c( look as though a bear or a mighty big raccon fell in upset the pump which pumped out the water and put a gigantic hole in my liner......Poor lil fishies........I am going to have to get an aquarium for them indoors this winter. Did alright with eating over weekend, however I feel so bloated today. Made an awesome fat free cinnamon struesel cake w/apple topping for dessert yesterday. Even the kids liked it...lol. Things are better with one son, but my other boy is down in dumps due to his break up. poor kid is having a hard time juggling college, work, and a girl friend...sure hope things get easier for him soon. Had a great workout this morning 645 calories burned, with a nice breakfast afterwards. Tried some lactose/fat free milk this morning and suprisingly it tastes alot better than regular old skim milk, a bit more pricey but definintley worth the taste.......I think I will stick with it.
sophie44 10-13-03, 11:37 AM I am so glad your had a nice weekend, wow, GREAT!!!! The apple cake sounds so yummy, can you PM me the recipe please?! Blue~I am so glad things are working out with son for you, I really wish you the best!

Well, today is 6 months into my getting fit for life routine. Been following a strict excersise routine and eating healthier. I am really shocked at how fast time has gone by. 27 pounds gone forever, I would really like to be at my goal by the first of the year. However if I dont then.......well.........that's ok too as I know I WILL SUCCEED!. Workout out was fantatstic this morning, as was eating yesterday, 1371 calories, 9%fat. Started my Quick Book class last nite, not really what I was hoping but it was only the first class so we shall see. Thanks for dropping in Sophie, it is always a pleasure to see your smiling face:) Recipe on the way........you will laugh when you read it......as it is not really a recipe at all.
JerbearRN 10-14-03, 01:34 PM 27 pounds gone forever! That's great! I was hoping to have more off by now also, but getting healthier is more important. Just keep doing what you're doing, because it seems to be working!
Jerry

BlueEyez 10-20-03, 07:42 AM Monday, October 20th
Wow, what a busy weekend. Too busy.........run run run! and get nothing done!! Left out early Friday morning with daughter and grandbaby to go shopping, was going to get my total body gym, however when got to store wouldnt go in car, due to car seat:( ...oh wll got some good bargains and had a girls day out which was fun. Decided to try again Saturday, morning left baby here with boys and pappy and went to get my total body gym.......this time had plenty of room but got to see one set up and decided it was not what I wanted.........lol gosh all this running for nothing. You see the mall is like 50 miles from us. Didnt get back home till around 5:30, I am really beat. Decided I would stay home Sunday and relax..........yeah right!! Stayed home but far from relaxed. And still gotta run run run today. Class at 6 this evening and have to get mammogram at 3 this afternoon. So looks like I will have to kill some time between class and when I get out of Docs....cuz surely not driving home 30 min to turn around and go right back.........what to do what to do:shrug: My eating was good for the weekend and with all the shopping we must have walked 10 miles at least each day. I put in 30 min on my gazelle yesterday and did some upper body work with weights. Anyway, just wanted to jot something down here, so I am not AWOL again for so long.
sophie44 10-20-03, 11:54 AM wow girlie, you are so busy!! Well, maybe the time between you can take a nice walk, enjoy the day! Workouts are looking great!!
BlueEyez 10-21-03, 09:37 AM Tuesday, October 21st
Had a perfectly lovely afternoon yesterday. Daughter and grandaughter met me at hospital after mammogram, to hang out with me before my class. Hubby even took off so we all spent several hours together looking in all the shops on the lake. Lots and lots of christmas shoppes.......oh how I love them. All I got was a pumpkin pie yankee candle..yummy. Then we went out for dinner afterwards. Did very well except for a slice of cherry pie at end. I had grilled chicken breast teriaki, steamed brocoli and green beans, diet coke. Got in a fantastic workout this morning 645 calories burned. I am hopin this mammogram turns out good that way I can go annually like a normal person. Also got my flu shot:c( dayum that thing hurt.....Have lots to do this morning so I had better get busy. Until later...........
BlueEyez 10-22-03, 09:19 AM Wednesday, October 22nd
Well, didnt meet my mini challenge for 2#'s this week, but I did lose one so I'll graciously accept that.:o Workout was very good this morning........655 calories and managed to keep a 7mph pace for 2 min.......lol! Not bad for this old bod. Been very busy for the past week, almost too busy need to be sure to just have a nice quiet laid back weekend.........LoL, yeah right. Have class tonite then finish up next week. My daughter wants to take a weight lifting class in the spring, I said sure what the heck. I find that taking these classes are really good brain food for me. Gonna run now bunch to do before I open at 9, had a bagel and coffee on the fly. Will eat a big lunch to compensate for a slimfast dinner. Later!

2 more pounds gone, I am so excited! It seems that everyone around me notices now too.........the compliments are just so motivating, I FEEL FANTASTIC!!! Have been doing very well with eating as with my excersising. My endurance on my running has really come a long way since I first began, I was actually jogging at a pace of 7mph today! My goodness I remember when walking upstairs to my bedroom left me breathless. All I can say is life is good, and thank each and every one of you who have taken the time to cheer me on. Your encouragement has always been such a comfort and inspiration for me. Today is the last day of my class, and I will be certified in Quick Books! Going to school was pretty kewl, I am investigating some other classes, who knows, maybe I will find something I really like and get a degree.......One never knows:o
monicapink 10-29-03, 10:51 AM Congratulations on your fantastic two pound loss :cheer: You are proving focus and commitment MAKES THE DIFFERENCE. Make it a great day. As always, Monica
bird songs 10-29-03, 01:03 PM Good Morning JavaBlue!
I see by your posts you are having such a good time in life!
And losing weight to boot! You are getting so near to your goal and you are earning your self esteem!
I havent been to DT for awhile. Been really busy with so many new things. I am trying to make a 'quilt' photo album lol
Practicing for the BIG BED QUILT lol
I deflea'd my dog and while I was at it, I dipped my cat in the solution and he kept looking at me so confused as if to say what is going on in my world, this has never happened before.. LOL
Eighteen pounds of cat is nothing to reckon with, I thought for sure he would scratch the hide off my arms, but he was a good boy. Funny how a cats arms and legs grow really longggggggg lol
Well sweetie, gonna post in my journal and get back in gear here.
Just needed a long break from internet and still do actually.
ivoryrose 10-29-03, 04:37 PM hiya bluesy! Just sending a  Are you ready for Halloween?
sophie44 10-29-03, 09:18 PM Great job on your loss!!! You have been working so hard, sure did pay off!
BlueEyez 10-30-03, 10:13 AM Thursday, October 30th
Trick or Treat................tonite's the big night here, when all of our ghosts and goblins head out for a night of candy and fun. I will be accompanying my daughter and grandaughter. The walking will be great excersise and seeing all of the kids having fun will be good excersise for the soul. Have done great with the treat problem, as I didnt buy any...lol, opting for a great suggestion, I got popcorn, and if I get the urge to splurge its an ok treat but I have to make it too. My kids are to big for trick or treating so no candy being brought back in the house either. Now to keep myself in control for Turkey Day. I am determined that I will do just fine, I have come so far and one day of eating will not ruin my accomplishments. I will only eat in moderation. Finished up class last night, got home without any tickets...lol! Great work out this morning and eating has been good also. I need to drink more water though this is something I just tend to "forget" about during the day. I need to make it a priority. Well, gotta run. Thank you for stopping in Monica, Karen and Sophie. I love it when I have guests.......:o
BlueEyez 11-03-03, 10:17 AM Monday, November 3rd
What a great weekend! First of all the weather was absolutely beautiful........supposed to continue to be fair until Thurday! Any way, painted front of house on Friday, rode bikes and did some hiking Saturday and Sunday! My eating could have been better but with all the added activity I am hoping it will all even out by weigh in Wednesday!! My goodness, already November to go outside you would think it is May, :D I just love it. My poor fishies had already gone into hibrenation mode.....but they was out of hiding over weekend...lol. Today is 23 month anniversary on quitting smoking.........:D I am so proud of myself for that accomplishment! According to the American Heart & Lung Assosiation a person who goes 2yrs smoke free can call themselves a non-smoker! I can hardly wait till next month. I am hoping to be at 150 by then, that was how much I weighed when I quit. My son told me that even if I dont get down to that weight that I am in a lot better shape than I was back then. He says look at you mom, you have defenied muscles and can run on your treadmill..............You know he is right:o I am much better right now at 159.......I have still made that a goal for me. Added a new twist to my workout this morning put some circuit training in it to spice things up a bit! Well gotta run.
sophie44 11-03-03, 06:42 PM hey there girl, I posted in the AA all about where I have been, but I still wanted to get on here and tell you hello and that I really miss you!!! I hope to be back on line ASAP!!! |
