View Full Version : Mi vida loca (My crazy life)...
Bella Mia 07-21-03, 04:36 PM Welcome to my very crazy life. I am Mia, mother of three, wife of one.:D
I've been feeling very depress for these past few weeks and my eating has really gotten out of control, so much so that I've manage to gained 20 pounds since May.
After much debating, I finally got off my butt and went down and joined the local Weight Watchers this afternoon. I am going to start following the program tomorrow morning. Today I will basically eat whatever I'm in the mood for.
As of today, I weigh 170.2 . My goal weigh is 119.
I will weigh in on Saturday mornings.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Mia
lisad00 07-21-03, 05:59 PM best of luck to you. WW really works if you follow the directions.
monicapink 07-21-03, 07:33 PM Hello Mia,
Welcome to Diettalk and to achieving your weight loss goal.
You will find much support and encouragement here at DT. If you are interested Lizzie B is the moderator of the WW/Nutrition Chat which is held every Monday evening at 9 p.m. EST in the WW/Nutrition Chat Room.
Welcome again to Diettalk and if I can be of any assistance please let me know. Always, Monica
Minnie mouse 07-21-03, 11:15 PM Hello Mia and welcome to DT,
ww does work if followed. i know as im on it. i dont go to meetings though.
best wishes on it for a healthier, fitter life. you will see with ww that they practice better choices and smaller portions but you get used to it. it seems like less than were used to cuz our portions are bigger but arent really portions thats why we gain.
i tend to eat things now low in points so i can eat more and feel full. i eat veggies, fruits, rice, grain and oat bread and drink alot of hot tea. it does work.
take care and nice to meet you.
Bella Mia 07-22-03, 11:47 PM All went well today. I stood within my daily point range and I drank 64 ounces of water. Getting started on the water again was a bit difficult, especially while working. I was in the bathroom constantly-all day. I hope to be drinking 96 ounces by Saturday.
Thank you Lisa, Monica, and Minnie for stopping by and posting words of encouragement.
I know W.W. works. This is my second time joining. The first time I lost over 40 pounds but I quit before reaching my goal. I did manage to keep the weight off for over 1 1/2 years. Hopefully this time I will reach my goal.
Well, my period arrived this evening and I am feeling very tired now.
Goodnight everyone!
Mia

Hi Mia,
i love the title of your journal!
welcome to diettalk i am sure you will love it here as i do, the support is second to none.
Good luck with ww, its a great program and very much a common sense approach to losing weight and keeping it off.
i look forward to watching your success.
hugs bell :)
lisad00 07-24-03, 10:50 AM keep increasing the water. It really helps.
Bella Mia 07-26-03, 02:31 PM Hi everyone!
Monica: Your progress is very inspirational to me. Thank you for stopping by!
Bell: Welcome to Mi Vida Loca. Congratulation on reaching your goal! I am looking forward to reading your journal.
Lisa: I am still drinking 64 ounces a day. I am going to increase it slowly in order to give my body time to adjust. I am in the bathroom constantly as it is.
****************************************************
Thursday and Friday were very good eating days. I am starting to feel much more in control now that I am not eating everything in sight. Feels good to wake up feeling light and energize instead of sluggish and bloated.
Today I will start my exercises. My body is in desperate need of a workout. This week I will begin riding my exercise bike and next week I start light weights.
I have been debating whether I should join Curves versus Gold’s Gym. I like the freedom that Gold’s Gym offers but I’ve heard very good things about Curves. Any advice out there?
I went to W.W today to get weighed and I was informed that I officially don’t have to weigh-in until next Saturday. To think I could have slept in a little longer. :D
I decided to get weighed anyhow just to see if I was making any progress. I am very happy to report that I lost 5.4 pounds (much better than I anticipated). :cheer:
The meeting was very interesting. The topic was how we always say, “I’ll try” and how we should omit those words from our vocabulary and instead we should “Just Do It” (like the Nike commercial).
I think I’m guilty of always “trying” and not “doing”.
I am going to change that about myself. It starts right now!
Today I am going to the movies with hubby and the kids to see Spy Kids 3.
Hope everyone has a great Saturday!
Mia

Bella Mia 07-27-03, 02:31 AM Today we went to a Carnival and then we went to the movies- very bad combination indeed for anyone on a diet.
I ate popcorn (a few handfuls), half a box of raisinettes, and yes I did drink soda.
For dinner I had a small chili from Wendy’s and a plain baked potato.
I know I pretty much went over my points, though I have no idea by how much.
As far as exercise goes, I did 3 miles on my exercise bike.
It is 1:12 a.m and I am in the mood for beef Lo Mein. Luckily we are no longer in NYC and there are no Chinesse restaurants open 24 hours here.
Anyhoo, until tomorrow...adios..
Mia
Hi Mia,
i was always a tryer too.....some days when i dont want to go to the gym i just drag myself there and JUST DO IT as the saying goes.
Great job on your fantastic loss for the week, thats awesome!
Come visit me sometime at my journal would love to see you.
hugs bell :)
Bella Mia 07-29-03, 12:18 AM I went down to Curves yesterday for information on becoming a member. I was given an appointment for Thursday. As soon as I walked out the door, I knew that Curves wasn’t the place for me. I know it works for many people but I personally thought it was too small and I like my space.
I went to Gold’s Gym at 9:00 pm tonight and I decided to join. It’s only $29 a month and the hours are better for me. I feel very happy that I finally took that step.
Things have been going well. I have been staying within my point range and drinking water.
Exercise for Sunday and Monday: 5 miles each day on my exercise bike.
Thanks for stopping by Bell. I am looking forward to stopping by and reading your journal.
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!
Mia
monicapink 07-29-03, 12:29 AM Hi Mia,
You're absolutely right ... you have to find a place that feels right to you ..... and one that you will want to go to :ex:; good for you for staying on your weight loss program .... with drinking :water: and following your plan YOU WILL SUCCEED. Make it a great evening .... keep letting us know about your success. As always, Monica :wn
lisad00 07-29-03, 01:16 PM keep up the good work. Also it is true you have to do what works for you. Just becuase it worked for someone else doesn't mean you will get the same results. Best wishes.
Bella Mia 07-30-03, 09:17 PM I went for my first workout at the gym last night. I went at about 8:00 pm and I was done at about 9:30 pm. I did 5 miles on the bike, about 1.5 miles on the treadmill and some light weights. I was very happy that the gym wasn’t crowded.
Even though I haven't really lost that many pounds yet I must say that I am feeling more and more confident as each day passes.
On Monday, I had the best sex I've had in months. My husband is still smiling. :D This is a very big deal for me considering that lately I've been too preoccupied with my "fatness" to enjoy myself. Can anyone relate to that?
Today I wore an outfit that made me feel very sexy to work. It wasn’t anything provocative, yet, as fat as I still am, I felt very sexy with it on. When my hubby saw me after work he told me that I look good enough to eat. I know he meant it too.
Today I went to a Creative Memories (scrapbooking) workshop. I LOVE to scrapbook!
Though, I haven’t had very much time to do any pages since Easter. I had a fun time. We just worked on borders. I bought a few more supplies.
Tomorrow is the last day of summer school for me and then I am on vacation until the end of August. Since it’s the last day we are taking the students with good attendance swimming (it's an all day trip). I am looking forward to the trip even though I am not confident enough yet to wear a bathing suit -not even a one piece (especially in front of my co-workers).
This week I will:
-make a workout schedule
-set a study schedule
-finish a few pages on my scrapbook
Thank you Monica and Lisa for your supportive entry in my journal.
I really do appreciate it!
Mia
monicapink 07-30-03, 11:17 PM Hi Mia,
That is so terrific :cheer: ..... lol about everything.
I will be interested in reading your plan ..... I do have a schedule to do all my household activities (I am using different words .. I don't like the word CHORES .... because to me that is a negative .. lol it is all semantics.
Thank you for stopping by and visiting my journal .... the past couple of days ... the gray skies have matched my mood. Today was different .... and I am going to make tomorrow even better. Take care and make it a great evening . and have and make it a great day tomorrow. As always, Monica
Hey Mia.
glad that things are looking up in ALL areas of your life lol...
Its easy to get self concious etc about our weight even with those that know us best...i am thrilled for you that your self confidence is booming.....bet hubby is pretty darn happy too :o
Your menus look good too...yoghurt is not one of my fave things but i see you LOVE it! i am not a big dairy fan makes me feel sick in the stomach.
Keep going girl, you are doing so well!
hugs bell :)
Tryin2Looz 07-31-03, 01:41 PM Bella Mia, Como estas?
I'm assuming the water intake is going slower than the outflow! Don't you hate that? I know I have to struggle to get in all that water...are you sure "short" people need all that water? I feel like a barrel and when I'm full of water I'm pretty sure I look like one.
I'm 5'2" and I chose your journal to read because your stats are kind of similar to mine. I wanted to choose someone to read who is about my height and married with kids. I too am married and have 3 great kids(I think they are the best God had to offer! He saved em just for me!). I am blessed. Check out my Journal if you want....I'm a little condescending at times, but I try to be nice and positive.
I'm trying to not let the scale or the tape measure determine my day.
Way to go....:spring:
lisad00 07-31-03, 02:37 PM No problem Mia.
Yeah, I like happy days also. I don't have many but, when I do I enjoy them.
I know what you mean. I work dress yesterday and I got about 6 you look good/nice compliments. I don't get in to compliments because they come and go to fast. Yet, sexy clothes do make me feel sexy.
Every night this week. I have put on my good pajamas from Fredericks of Hollywood and it has really made a difference in calming me after work.
So keep enjoying yourself at anysize.
Bella Mia 08-14-03, 06:21 PM Hi everyone, I'm back!
I wasn't able to get on-line and update my journal due to the fact that my computer was acting up so I had to take it in to get fixed.
I surely did miss my fellow Diettalkers!
Thank you Monica, Bell Tryin2, and Lisa for stopping by. I appreciate it sooo much!
A lot has happen since I last wrote. Let me begin by telling you all that I’ve been feeling GREAT! :D
Joining the gym has helped me tremendously.
On August 2nd, I had my first actual weigh-in at Weight Watchers.
Reminder: I had gone on July 26 to get weighed and was told since I had joined on a Monday (7-21) and not on a Saturday, I could wait another week for my first weigh in.
Anyhow I lost 5.4 that first week and my second week I lost 2.6 lbs. That’s a total of 8 lbs. lost on my first weigh in.
I started my new exercise regimen on August 4th. When I went to get weighed on August 9th, I was up 0.8 lbs. I didn’t get upset or stressed out because I figured it was due to the weight lifting I had done. I am very sure sooner or later the scale will reflect my work.
This is basically how my exercise routine for this week looks…
Monday-lower body workout at the gym
Tuesday- 20 minutes of aerobic exercise at the gym (glider, exercise bike)
Wednesday- upper body work out
Thursday (Today) - 20 minute of aerobic exercise at home (exercise bike)
Friday- lower body workout at the gym
Saturday- 20 minute of aerobic exercise
Sunday- My Free Day. No exercise.
I am reading the book Body for Life by Bill Phillips. It’s a great book. I highly recommend it. He also has a web site that you can check out.
This week I feel very in control. I am not craving harmful foods and I am finally not feeling starved.
I am picturing myself at goal, looking good and most of all- feeling good.
I am taking care of ME and boy does it feel good.
Mia
monicapink 08-14-03, 06:46 PM Mia , CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR OUT OF SIGHT TERRIFIC WEIGHT LOSS :cheer:.
Remember it takes time and patience to succeed ...... YOU ARE GOING TO SUCCEED Take care of yourself..... and KEEP  THE GOOD WORK . Make it a great day. As always, Monica :wn
Bella Mia 08-14-03, 09:31 PM Thank you Monica! You are a true:sweety:sweetheart.:sweety:
There is a huge power outage in NYC and even though I am living in Pennsylvania now, I was born and raised in NYC and most of my family still lives there. I was able to get in touch with most of them (including my Mom) and I am happy to say that they are safe at home, Thanks the Lord!
I was unable to get in touch with my niece who is NYC police office and her brother (an FDNY paramedic), but I figure they are still working and problably will continue working overtime.
Mia
Bella Mia 08-16-03, 06:12 PM Today I went to the gym at about noon. This is my first time going in the afternoon. I usually go either early in the morning before breakfast or late at night (three hours after dinner). This morning was very hectic so I had no choice.
I am changing my exercise schedule. I've decided to have my free days on Fridays instead of Sunday.
So, today I worked on my lower body and tomorrow I will do aerobics.
By the way, in case anyone was wondering, on aerobic days I either ride an exercise bike, go on the glider or walk the treadmill.
I went to my W.W meeting this morning and I'm very happy to report that I've lost 2.2 lbs. this week. Even though I haven't lost much yet, I am starting to see little differences in my body. Hooray for that!
Today will be another weekend that I will spend doing back-to-school shopping. I am almost done, thank goodness. Tpday I just need to get my kids new sneakers, backpacks, binders, and a few pairs of shoes for my daughter and I am done. (I think!)
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Mia
monicapink 08-16-03, 06:37 PM Hello Mia,
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FANTASTIC TWO ... POINT TWO POUNDS LOSS :cheer: :cheer: What are you talking about ..... your stats show a loss of 28 POUNDS .... now if I am adding correctly ... those additional two pounds .... MAKES 30 POUNDS GONE FOREVER IN A HEALTHY AND PERMANENT WAY.
Look how far you have come in a reasonably short period of time ..... SO DON'T [-X SAY YOU HAVEN'T LOST MUCH .....
You take care of yourself ..... I will be stopping by again another time. As always, Monica :wn
Bella Mia 08-17-03, 10:48 AM Monica,
Thank you. Let me explain my stats. At my highest I was 192. I joined W.W a few years ago and lost 42 pounds which took me down to 150. I stopped going to W.W and manage to stay at 150 until this past May. That is when all that eating I was doing finally caught up to me and I gained 20 pounds. So I decided to join W.W again (weighing 170.2 this time).
I am now 160.8 which means I've lost 9.4 lbs total so far this time around.
Kinda of confusing right? Well, I am going to change my stats so I won't confuse anyone. I am putting down 170.2 as my starting weight instead of 192.
Anyway, I went to Chili's yesterday for dinner. I had the chicken and pasta in marinara sauce, one alcoholic drink, one mozzarella stick and a few bites of my husband'd delicious chocolate Molten cake. Do I feel guilty? No, because I actually wanted to get the shrimp and pasta in Alfredo sauce, and I wanted to drink a few more drinks. So, in reality, I was kinda of good. :D right???
I didn't get to buy any school stuff yesterday. I'm not sure if I will get to go school shopping today because I need to buy a new mattress and dresser for my middle son.
I also have to study for a test I am having in 2 weeks.
Well, hope everyone has a great Sunday.
Mia
Bella Mia 08-18-03, 04:37 PM Woke up late today and went straight to the gym. I worked on my upperbody. Yesterday I did aerobics.
One thing I must mention, I do not eat before going to the gym and I always wait at least an hour to eat after working out.
When I got back from the gym I started cleaning here and there and before I knew it it was 12:00 noon. Lunch time!
Time sure goes fast when you are on vacation.
Here is a list of what I ate for lunch:
1/2 c. egg substitute with black olives, diced onions, 1 tomato, black pepper, garlic powder, and 1/2 c. Louis Kemp imitation crab.
2 slices of toasted 100% wheat bread. I put 2 tbsp. of bruschetta on each slice, divided 1/4 c. of fat free mozzarella on top, stuck it under the broiler for a few minutes and it hit the spot like you wouldn't believe.
I also drank 1 c. coffee with creamer and sugar.
I think it was a very filling lunch.
Anyhow, I will stop by later and write some more.
Mia
monicapink 08-18-03, 05:46 PM Hi Mia,
Just a very quick note ..... I wanted to check up on you to see how successful you are ... AND YOU DIDN'T DISAPPOINT ME.
 WONDERFUL ON THE EXERCISING :ex: .... how are you doing on your :water: intake ..... YOUR MENU SOUNDED GREAT.
Take care and I will be stopping by as soon as I can. Make it a great day. As always, Monica :wn
Bella Mia 08-18-03, 09:40 PM Thank you Monica for the encouragement. You are so sweet.
I am doing good with the water but I do think I could do better.
I drink a little over 64 ounces a day.
snack:
1/4 c. prunes.
For dinner I had:
1 Healthy Choice Dinner-Chicken Enchilada (not good at all)
3/4 c. green beans, diced tomatoes, onions, mushroom ( I stir fry the veggies with fat free cooking spray).
Dessert
1 c. Breyers 98% fat free vanilla ice cream
4 strawberries
1/4 c. blueberries
1 banana
I stick all this in the blender with some ice cubes and I have myself a very satisfying shake. Yumm!
I made chikcen chili for my family and brown rice. This was only the second time-the first time was a very long time ago-that I've cooked brown rice (we love white rice).
I added my spanish seasonings and the kids loved it.
Let's see what hubby thinks.
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
Mia
Bella Mia 08-19-03, 03:00 PM This morning I went and bought a bookshelf for each of my boys.

Mia
maximum 08-21-03, 02:18 PM I was just going to ask what Myoplex was :D
Sounds good I love when things feel me up. Sometimes I throw Watermelon in a blender and that feels me up pretty good. Or canteloupe with Vanilla Soy and Cinnamon.. Sounds weird but its Good.. No Really it is.!
 TARGETS having a sale.......... LOOK OUT!
JoThrive 08-21-03, 09:51 PM Hi, Mia. Nice to meet you, and thanks for stopping by my journal.
Looks like you are doing great in dropping those lbs. And it is worth all the effort that you are putting into your efforts.
And your exercise is great. I have never joined a gym myself. Maybe I will need to this fall when the weather gets too bad for outdoor walking.
Stick with your program, and you will keep right on sliding downward on your weight-loss journey.
And keep smiling, life is good, enjoy -
Mia,
Hey, you visited my thread so I thought I'd come see yours! :jn
You are very disciplined to consistently log your meals...that would probably help me if I could make myself do it. I mean, if I knew I was going to have to tell every lady who read my thread about the twinkie in the cupboard I've been eyeing, well, let's just say that eyeing it might be all I'd actually do!
And congrats on those 10 pounds you've lost! I'm sure it didn't happen overnight, but you can still be proud of yourself! :dn

monicapink 08-22-03, 09:27 AM Good Morning Mia,

YOU ARE DOING FANTASTIC ..... be patient with yourself. And ALWAYS BE KIND TO YOURSELF. Our successes happen BECAUSE WE MAKE THEM HAPPEN. Have and make it a great weekend. As always, Monica  :wn
