english-lion 07-28-03, 01:23 AM Well here it is, the start of my journal. I hope to lose 35 lbs by Christmas but the way I'm losing weight I'll be happy with 15lbs. when I first came on here I weighed 160 and got down to 150. I lost control and went up to 170 One week dieting and an hour everyday the treadmill I've lost 1 fricking pound All that work and just a pound!!!!!! I'm starting this journal to keep me on track and to show me the point at which I started. there is no guarantee that I will be writing everyday.
I will be honest at all times and I will be telling it as it is,Sorry in advance if I offend anyone But after all this is my journal. Dh and I are trying for our 3rd child this is our 3rd month trying and this is already aggravating me that I'm not prego! I love diet vanilla Coke and drink it instead of water I know its wrong and its one of the things I plan on changing! So here it is the start of it all my journal

Everyone comes to DT for different reasons, but planning your food is planning for success. Otherwise we don't face what we're doing honestly. This weight loss is for you.
No apology needed. My journal is boring as grass but honest to a point.
I plan my daily food and then don't go back and show how I fail. But I know it.
So will watch for your success.

Heard some thing on the news saying how many heath care worker jobs are going to be cut (contracted out) ( I thought it was just the support staff but it looks like all of us ) ugh it's looking bad! But who knows? Its typical that my work would not tell us, just let the news tell us. Morons X-( anyway work is always stressful

mohigan86 07-31-03, 10:06 AM Hang in there, you'll meet your goals. I know what you mean about the v.coke. I am a sucker for sobe, especially the wisdom and nirvana but I try to stick with the green tea. As for the prego issue, I am sure you've been told that the more you stress the harder it is. We tried for 6 months to have our first. we joke that he has the "R" chromosome. All it took was a bottle fo rum and a soft blanket. ;)

My Dad told me that he very high cholesterol and that the Dr. told him to loose weight. Asked him what he had for dinner he said hot turkey sandwich with gravy with mash potatoes looks like I have to have a little talk with him Oh the joys of parenting your parents !! 8-|

yesterday I exercised before we went out with a tape (lucky) had lasagna with cheese bread umm good
afterwards I found myself looking down the candy isle craving mike and ikes I was griping the cart so hard my knuckles turned white I didn't get any candy wow that a first for me when I crave candy I usually get it.
Got home and had a fruit bar thank goodness for them!!!

Just stopped in to take a peek at your journal. Looks like you are doing great. Way to go avoiding that candy. I love mike n ikes too, but have managed to keep them at a distance. I also like the diet v-coke, the way I handle not drinking too much of it is I allow myself one a day free of charge, but if I want more I have to drink twice the quantity in water first. It works out pretty good. I usually only end up drinking two.
I was reading about your dad and know the problem. Mine too has high cholesterol and is diabetic. I can get him to drop the sugar and he tries to emulate me about eating, but he loves to put on the gravies and sauces. Those are the killers. I think it's a generational thing. He doesn't think he as eaten unless it is smothered in some sauce or lathered in butter. :( We must persevere to keep them around though.

english-lion 08-14-03, 01:09 AM Thanks dude for the support. :) although today I weighed myself today I'd hadn't lost a pound So I got a little discouraged and said to myself ah to hell with it a little mike and ikes would hurt me. I still haven't had those heavenly Candy touch my lips!! [-X
As for my Dad he's doing better he say's that he only has a little gravy but still think that there is nothing wrong with mash potatoes anyway it's his life let the doctor deal with him
I've been there with my mom with her under active thyroid ( it was a battle to get her to take her pills she thought that she had to take them till the pills run out but she has to be on them for life (but that a whole separate story and a long one at that ) ) It's hard for him to change a life time of gravy and sauces on every thing and everything fried! guess which country I was born in ............England (that explains a lot)

Don't let the scales get you down. How often do you weigh so that it counts? The way I and some of the others on here do it is to only weigh once a week or only count your weight on one particular day of the week. We do this because our bodies will very by a pound or two just depending on the time of day we way and also will fluctuate throughout the weight loss process. So to lower frustration and anxiety we only count one day a week. It will also give you a more accurate guide to your weight loss. You may already do this. Sorry if I sounded like I was giving a lecture. I didn't meen it to sound that way.
Anyway don't let that one weigh in get you down. Your doing great! :up:

english-lion 08-15-03, 08:49 PM Hi dude thanks again for your support :coach: my official weigh in day is Friday but I jump on the scales every day ( one foot then the other seams to make it onto the scale at least once every day) So today Friday I've haven't moved the scale (well it didn't go up )

You lucky dog, living in Victoria...that is where my husband and I would move if we won the lottery. I love Munro's Book Store, the IMAX theatre and the downtown life. It is so beautiful there.
Congrats...you are doing so well being down six pounds already. I tried to lose ten pounds this summer, but I gained then lost 3 pounds so I am even with only 2 weeks to go. I would love to be down by August 31st.

Well yesterday went out with hubby last night had a huge hamburger. :eek: also yesterday my youngest son was came out in hives on his legs and arms I also had some hives on just one arm I really don't know what we got ourselves into

Don't waste your money or your taste buds. The stuff is disgusting! It left a formaldehyde taste in my mouth so bad I couldn't finish it if I wanted to.
So stick to the good stuff, diet Vanilla COKE! :)
I think they're smiling because they tape a one minute segment and just run it on a loop and know there going to have some gravity challenged people out there sweating their (fill in blank) off trying to follow along. :D
Hey english...the good thing about exercise tapes is you can talk back to those horrible, thin people who move like crazy and keep smiling!! Curse with impunity!

weighted in Friday haven't moved during the week when I cheat by hopping on the scales it looks like I may have lost 2 lbs but on the Friday and since then I've haven't moved. So I was thinking that I'm doing too much treadmill my body had probably gotten used to it So I'll be swearing and cursing at those smiling swimsuit models
Friday I tried pilates mixed with ballet the pilates I liked but the ballet is not me!!!!
yesterday I did the firm and had some pizza :eek: (there goes all hope of moving the scale this week :D ) As for today I not feeling good maybe after a nap I'll be O.K . I'm feeling a bit dizzy and my back has been killing me

I worked out with a new pilates tape for half an hour half an hour treadmill I really love doing the treadmill!! the pilates tape was just pilates I didn't feel like it was a work out but now I sure do !!!!!! doing good on my eating and of course its my water intake and still loving my D.V. Coke !!!

I'm feeling better now still the same weight :shrug: My Dad has lost 10 lbs I'm sweating like a pig and haven't lost any thing my Dad stared later then me doing less of a work out then me and hasn't really change his eating habbits I say it's not fair :tongue:
Hey english...forget about what is happening with your Dad and focus on yourself. There is no doubt that men have it easier when it comes to weight loss and you will drive yourself nuts if you compare yourself to them (or even other women).
Congratulations on maintaining your weight loss while you were sick. You are doing great and it will start coming off again.

Hi English, glad your feeling better. Don't sweat it with your dad. You're still doing it and you will be in better shape.
You might take a look at how much you eat and what you eat. Be sure when you make your calculations to increase your intake for the calories you burn during exercise. If you are eating too little it will slow you down just as much as if you are eating too much. Also look at the types of foods you are eating, are they full of simple carbs, are you eating enough roughage and fiber, drinking enough water?
Just some suggestions to help. All in all I say your doing great. Getting exercise and working at eating better. Keep up the good work.
english-lion 09-08-03, 09:03 PM Well I have to agree with Artsy on this one ( at least with the men I know) Husband went on the body for life and lost 28 lbs in 10 weeks I stayed the same didn't move the scale either way!!!! two of his friends also lost weight and look buffed now :mus: I know of another lady that did the body for life and she also didn't move the scale So with me I've seen plenty of men loose weight around me including my dad as I stay the same dam weight X-(
not that there is anything wrong with that :peace:

Well I haven't been good the lat few days I've gotten myself into a rut of eating Candy and not exercising and gone up 2 lbs !!! So that Has got to stop!!!!!!!

english-lion 09-13-03, 12:08 PM cut back a bit on my eating didn't exercise so much this week but I did loose that 2lbs that I gained I just got myself of the treadmill and I'm doing the body for life 20min on it I'll try that for a while .I do feel like it was a work out

Let me tell you a twenty minute workout is twenty minutes of GREAT workout. Anything that will get your body moving more than it did before is a plus when your talking about raising your metabolism to lose some weight. If you felt it was "like" a workout then it was a workout. I get on my power rider at home and do 15 min and by the time I'm through I'm :sweat: like mad. So your doing great with your 20 min workouts on your treadmill.
english-lion 09-22-03, 09:18 PM ugh ugh ugh !!!!!!! :tomato: been bad really bad did not eat right did not exercise right didn't even look in on my journal back up there 2lbs gain again!!!!! I'm getting sloppy excuses there is none I just have to get off my fat ass and do some exercise !!!!
the 19th was our weeding anniversary 11 years we went to a la de da restaurant I was thinking good food and I would bee stuffed well it was good food stuffed I weren't had the lamb rack of lamb $27.50 I love lamb got the plate 2 small chops some mashed potatoes 2 baby carrots one white thing the same size that was it my husband had an appetizer $8.00. abagar tuna it was one slice of tomato a thin slice of tuna and herbs on top. Of course we had desert we were still hungry!!!!! So really if I wanted to lose weight I could pay a ton of money and go to this restaurant all the time! Hay I can't really complain I was with my man But my man also for got his wallet !!!!! :O I also didn't bring mine So I stay hostage and my husband drove franticly home and retrieved his money .
offtopic I applied to a grooming store for a groomer casual or part time I don't need the job but it's my first love and I miss doing it ( I was a dog groomer 7 years ago ) I told them that they still called me in for an interview at the end of the interview he told me the wage would be $10.00 an hour ( I get 20 as a care aide)he said he'll call me the next day to let me know. That next day I tell yah it felt like I was waiting for a call from a person I that I had a one night stand with (not saying that that ever happen to me in my single days I was quite the angle :not: ) anyway never got the call. A couple of days latter I go into the store with my youngest son to look at the pets As we were going in he was coming out another guy he passed me avoiding looking at me. As we were going on to look at the cats he goes down another ale . He goes into the cat adoption and he is sitting with a costumer as my son and I walk in he just looks at us from the side of his face nothing was said to me as we looked at the cats he just avoided me. I think that was just plain rude he didn't have the balls to call me and he didn't have the balls to look me. this my sound bitter that I didn't get the job I didn't need I just wanted it to be a hobby thing but for that manager to treat me that way it's just deplorable in my book!!
anyway As I bit*h on this entry is getting bigger and bigger and I'm not doing exercising if I'm typing Well lets hope I get my ass a moving this week and exercise!!
SierraDude 09-23-03, 09:08 AM Sh.... stuff happens. Don't let it get you down. So you went up. It happens. The important thing is to keep at it. One day at a time. Don't worry about losing control for a it, just get that control back and each day make a new effort to stay on track. You can do it!
As far as the jerk manager goes. If he's like that, be grateful that you didn't get the job and have to work for him. It was pretty petty of him not to give you the courtesy of a call back to let you know yea or nay.
Englishlion...maybe the manager found out that he can't hire a dog groomer after all, or maybe the wage was less than he said to you. Sometimes managers report to owners and owners are really the people who are calling the shots for the business. Or another scenario is that they offered the job to somebody else who hasn't said yes or no yet. Don't burn your bridges...be pleasant no matter what happens because if they hire somebody else and it doesn't work out with that person they might call you again.
Is that the only place in Victoria you could apply to for dog grooming work...you might get revenge by getting a better offer from one of them!
