Hiya Donna! I have a bottle of the French FF.....I have tried some of the others and uhh........didn't aquire a taste for 'em! I do believe the brand will make a difference tho, as I've used the 2 Good somethin' with 2 grams fat and it wasn't too awful!
It would be worth the effort in the long run! My Mom will eat a salad without dressing and a sandwich....dry....eek!

Donna! Your stlye sounds som like mine prep wise! I see what I have, use and reuse what I really love! I chose the fish over HB helper today at lunch.
I'm gonna watch the carb/sodium intake for a few days 'till I get some fluid down and out of my head.
I have wonderful breakfast options and rarely eat it but am doing better in preparing ahead. Perhaps after a week to 10 days I won't have to revise so much! I like the idea of having my day planned with few surprises and snags!
Today for example...I had breakfast at 6, lunch at 11 so that when Mom came at noon, I wouldn't be tempted to go out to eat. She was happy with my impromtu fare, as was Bubba and it helped me get rid of a potential problem for later......Me be smart cookie some days! LOL!:D

Lizzie...I hope you get to feeling better quickly! This doesn't sound good at all, dear friend! Do you have IBS or something similar, along with the diabetes? It bears looking into! Take care of you girly girl!

Hey Bren, Yep I have IBS and all kind of digestive problems. Some days no problem then other whamo!!! Been having some WHAMO day!!

Making some clear broth veggie soup for myself. I did eat fresh veggie sthis afterenoon and I will pay for that but only about half of what I fixed. Appetite just took a dive whilst I was eating!!

Girlie girl you are too funny!!

DH is putting in anew bathroom did I tell ya??? I keep forgetting!!

Lizzie: I really don't know too much about IBS other than what I've heard in passing, and even that is pretty horrible! I've heard it can really do a number on you and almost cripple your lifestyle sometimes?
Do you have to avoid certain foods to prevent a flair up or take meds for it? Or God forbid~give up anything because of it? I always want what I absolutely cannot have!

Donna

Oh Lizzie! You certainly do have a double.........or more whammy!
I've had a few bouts of something similar and would've gone to the Hospital if I could've gotten that far. I was sicker than a dawgy dawg! The pain was horrendous! I didn't have to exaggerate those days!
You're getting it from all sides! You're too sick to eat, but ya gotta eat or the diabetes complications get ya! I'm moving you back up to the top of the prayer list and I might let Dwight drop by for a couple of hours since I can't hear him today anyway......I think he said he would come back when I can?
Gonna get my day planned and committed.
Have a "safe" day, girls! We had a guy in the office on Tuesday who called Sharon and I girls......we like it!

Hi Bren,

SOS~what seasoning do you use for your Talipia? It's a "newer" fish find for me and one that hubby (from Florida no less) is not acquainted with.
I've seasoned it with just a pepper blend the 2 other times I've had it, but if you've found some particular herbs or spices that zap it up, I'm all ears!:D

And isn't it wonderfully low in calories and fat!?

Morning Food Loggers and A Happy August 1st to You,

Yep I am dealing with a lot of tummy problems. Today so far has been a bummer with starting with pain and discomfort. I do take meds for IBS and they help but sometimes the diverticulitis acts up then I am really in for it!! Last time i had a flair ( or is it flare) up I lost 11 pounds in a week. Not that bad yet!

I am suppose to stay away from spicey foods, fatty foods, high sugar foods and high salt foods. Nothing fried ever. Have to be very careful about eating anything with seeds because of diverticulitis. So all fruit with tiny seeds are a no no!! I do eat lots of bananas!!!!!!!

August 1

Lizzie....when I had my tummy troubles, I got hooked on instant mashed potatoes w/ gravy and oatmeal. The most severe was 4 days........I was afraid to eat, as anything at all started the spasms and I couldn't leave the house for 3 days. My heart goes out to you!

Donna, I use these wonderful no sodium seasonings from McCormick. One night I used the It's a Dilly.....blend of dill/lemon and spices (garlic/onion/jalapeno). The Spicy is great as well. It has a wonderful blend of goodies too numerous to mention! I have 4 varieties of the salt free blends....OH YUM! I really like pepper blends and use lot of those as well as blended herbs.
When I use spices, if it says "good in such and such"....it's a free for all! I use the garlic or olive oil Pam before I broil or grill.
It is SO good! I have truly found another favorite food. I'd never had it till we went out while I was at Laura's and what was neat, my SuperMarket had it on sale when I got back. I got more at Wal-Mart yesterday.

Well I'm off to to my dinner.....I'm excited about larger veggie and fruit portions! LOL! Come on Can't Elope! I had to revise today again due to an unexpected but totally decadant and delicious treat from a tenant of ours!
Have a good evening all!

I hope you have a good evening and can get some rest as well! I'll c-ya here tomorrow!

The spices are great. I was so whiny when I HAD to go low sodium.....and was very surprised to find these so good. I still use lite salt but not a lot of it. I still get into the fritos occasionally when I am in rebellion!

Well color you organized Bren!:D I really would do so much better if I planned my meals days in advance! I actually plan them based around what I have and I should do it the other way around to get more variety. Your menu looks great! Oh, and when I hit Wal-Mart Monday for shopping I'll look for those spice blends, they'll be great! I've used Mrs.Dash blends before but haven't spied the McCormick blends, I'll have to look.

Lizzie, hope your tummy troubles are coming to an end, or better yet, have ended! I LOVE fried potatoes too, when I was growing up we had them several times a week, my dad loved them! I use to make them every Sunday morning with a big breakfast, the one thing my daughter missed most when I started my weight loss! She could handle everything else, but losing the fried potatoes and my baked macaroni and cheese were too much to handle!:D Take care of your "in'uns" today, 11lbs sounds like a bonus for the trouble, but you must have darn near starved to death!

Be back later to post food,

Donna

Hi Donna,
Thanks for the kind words. We had fried potatoes several times a week also when I was growing up. I use to make them often here but not in months and months. Baked mac and cheese!! Yummmmmmm still love it but don't have it very often either.

When I lost those 11 pounds it took my body months to recover. I hope that never happens again!!

Have a great day!!

Hiya girls!
Yep Donna.........I am gettin' it together! It feels great! OK....so what if it's partially drug induced....I like, I like!! I was doing the menu this morning at 1 AM when I couldn't sleep! I got a nice nap tho before work! I was SO ready for my breakfast....minus the nasty de-caf coffee ......but I'm thankful I didn't get a headache!

Do try some of the seasonings! They're reasonable and really good. I had so many yummy things that I gave away when I went on sodium restriction.
The mac and cheese and taters! ME too....what was it wth us all? I think it was 'cuz it was cheap and yummy and filling! My Mom did beans a lot to go with the taters and she cooked in solid crisco mind ya! She uses oil now but still does a lot of the same thing for her and my brother. They both snarled up their noses at my grilled fish! They don't know what they're missing do they?
Speaking of....United had the Tilapia for ONLY $5.69 a pound! OMG! That sent me back to Wally World for the 2 # for $5.00 while it's still on sale! LOL!

I need to suck down about 32 more oz. of water to get my quota so I'd better hop to!
Have a good evening , all of you! I'll be back in the morning!
I'm doing laundry tonight and will cook my roast so I can truly relax in the morning and not have so much to do before work.
I'm ready for a break.....I've had a really busy and productive week! (first in a LONG time!)

Bren, My mom and dad both did beans with ham if we had any and sometimes a little bacon. But always fried potatoes and picked beets which I still love. I could eat like that everyday. On Saturday she always baked bread and cinnamon rolls. Sunday morning at the crack of dawn mom would bake about 8 to 10 pies. Then while we were in church she would fix dinner. There were 10 of us. Eight children and parents plus all our friends!! Everyone was fulll by the dinner was over and then off to play!!

No wonder I am fat. Those were the best meals. I think I try to capture that feeling again by fixing similar foods. You know comfort foods. Yikess good thing my tummy is giving me trouble. Other wise I can smell fried potatoes!! Just kidding!!

Have agreat weekend and take care of you!!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Hi Lizzie! OH no.....the rice regimen! It's really bad again, isn't it?
I sure hate that you are so sick honey bunch. Why can't only mean, nasty people have these problems?
I'd only be sick on "date" nights and we know how often that happens!

Yes, I know what you mean about the "comfort" foods. Sometimes I think our soul cries for the simpler times and we use the food to recapture some of those feelings. It's the memories and connection that's missed.
Wow! 8 young'uns! Your family was a big one! I think I would've liked having a sister......So I have sisters of the heart....that God has given me....I glom on to you all!l I did have one, but she died at 9 months and there were no more. My Mom had to have a hysterectomy at 29. I had mine at 30......same problems she had.
None of that has anything to to with the food log...but hey.....one thought leads to another! LOL!

Bren......will do Sunday's log next!:D

OOOOhhhhh Bren, that greek salad sounds sooooo yummy! I haven't tried my hand at it yet and I've seen hundreds of recipes for them! I'm never sure which salad greens work best, etc. As you see by my menus I'm the "salad in a bag" type unless I have specific instructions for something different. I just didn't grow up on greens and salad greens so it's all a different planet when I'm in the grocery store looking at all these names of different salad greens! So I buy the bagged kinds and call it a day! PLUS~Wal-Mart has these really cute little "personal" size salads in a bag that are just right for 1 person so I get them mostly. But any tips you can pass on will be appreciated!:D

That salad looks yummy!

Donna! Me too! The salad bag type! I love the fancier ones but don't pay extra to get 'em often. Veggie Lovers/Romaine/Field greens.....all scrumptious!!
The greek salad is killer!! I use the bagged salad mix, sometimes toss in bell pepper also. My original recipe called for Roma tomatoes but I use whatever I have....usually grape or just on the vine ones. I bought lite dressings to use......I love flavored vinagars and olive oil or ranch is good........I actually as of today will kill off a 2 pound bag of salad for the first time! I will have it for lunch. I have ....ummm.....several times thrown an unopened bag out, as I let it sit for two weeks and get nasty! No more! I am so enjoying my veggies and fruits!

I cooked the rest of my bacon for the next few days, and have organized my frig and freezer. I am having fun again with my plan and that keeps me at it. We knowI love to "play"! LOL!

Got notes to write so will boogy for nowand be back later. I was tempted to go o the track this mornng for a walk but miss my music......so when hearing is restored....I will definately be back up thre! If it's only about 75, I can do that! At 6 in the mornings it would be great!

Have a good day all.........

Hi Angels,

You both have some excellent choices for meals. I may just print your menus and use them!! That 's lizzie anything easy!!

Last night DH wanted potato salad so I made it for him. Only made enough for a small army. Then today he wanted blackberry cobbler. Imagine all those seeds!!!!!!!!!!! So grandson and I made a huge cobbler and I made cinnamon/sugar strips out of left over pie dough for grandson. Said he had never had any. Well we shared lots of stories making those cinnamon crust slices.

We are under a tornado warning right now but I want to do some posting soooooooooo. I am watching the window!!

Menu for today has been sporadic if not crazy. Tummy is still off today but hopefully will be abck on program tomorrow. Just trying to stay with 30 points no matter what I can eat. Been eating very small portions alld ay and no exact meals but definitely will tomorrow. Can not allow this to spiral out of control!!

Have a great evening!!

Love and hugs,
lizzie

Hiya Lizzie!
I would do the same! Rip off from you guys! LOL! ideas/menus etc. Why waste more brain power than we need to? That was my idea when I started checking out this thread.....hmmm!
Donna's grilled chees and jelly sandwich sounds good and also her cheeseburger salad thing she does. I was thinking a BLT salad since I have my bacon pre-cooked.
That was a 3 pound bag of salad greens I killed off! WOW! I only wasted one bowl, as I had attacked my fish first one nite and was full after that and my veggie.
I'm glad you're feeling some better! Begentle with your dear self!!
I'll be back later........I wen to sleep at 9 and was up a 11:30. I am sure enjoying myself!
C-ya shorthly on Monday'sthreads!
