I don't usually have a journal, but thought I'd check in as I take stock at this stage of my journey.
This week marks my second year at DT. I have been overweight all my life, two years ago as I turned 54, I was 200 at 5'1". I joined WW for the 100th time, and went through my usual self bashing as to why on such a well balanced program I couldn't lose (again).
I work in the educational field. That summer I had a conference in Vancouver, and absolutely no summer clothes that fit .
So in desperation I tried a meal replacement thing at GNC called Scandiet. After two days I was amazed, because I suddenly realized I something I've never had in my life-energy! By August 11, 2001 and was down to 188 & discovered DT.
That was a big discovery, because for the first time I felt accountable to others who were in the same battle. I'd always had issues with my very health conscious mother and hubby giving me advice.
I realized that there must be something in my regular diet that was interfering with weight loss & energy level, so i started adding things back and noticing what happened with my weight. The culprit was soon identified. -wheat.
So first step was to find substitutes for wheat, not as hard as I expected kamut & spelt, which are ancient grains I'd never heard of before. So using fitday and eliminating junk and mist processed food I got down to 159 by my one year anniversary at DT.
So my saga should continue as on of steady progress, right?
No, the next installment will center on the story of the dreaded plateau and return to negative thinking.
I'll be back with that if the dreaded computer worm doesn't get here first.
