hi everyone

My name is Dani and I am 19 year old and currently in college. I just started my diet today, and somewht am making it up as i go. I have started a journal of what i eat and do everyday.

ME now: 5'6 170lbs

Durations: UNtil my boyfriend returns from Iraq/ loose the weight i need

Challenge: Loose at least 30 to 40 lbs

My PLan: Lots of Water and no more diet dr pepper(ahh) To have better eating habits, and less carbs
Mon wed and sat: rollerblading for 2-3 hours
tues: Dance class
Walk 2 miles at least 2 times a week

Goal: To have better self esteem and a healthier way of life. To be 135lbs

The problem: I am fighting genetics here my entire family is over weight. I am also here alone now, all my friends have left for college and i am attending community college. This is why i have joined this group. With my boyfriend being in iraq i dont get to talk to him at all. And that makes it very hard to stick with something, hes not here to give me support, but i know he does.

Just wanted to tell everyone alittle about me, and GOOD LUCK!

Hey girl! Way to go on the lifestyle change...I just wanted to make a HUGE SUGGESTION here...but I personally think that it would be so much easier for you to have a plan and stick to it instead of "making it up as I go"....
It is so much easier to get from one place to another if you have a map...or a plan.

Let's say you are new on campus and you don't know where any of your classes are...are you gonna ask someone and get a map of the campus...or are you gonna wander around aimlessly hoping you'll end up at the right place?

See? Anyways girl, for your height, your weight isn't too bad and you don't have a lot to lose...I'd say, cut junk during the week and determine how much to allow on the weekend...like say...I'll have 3 slices of pizza and some diet soda and a salad when I go for pizza on Saturday and Sunday my friends and I are planning to go to the ice cream shop... I decide I'll order a small yogurt cone instead of an ice cream sundae.
And during the week you could say...I'll eat good....Every morning I'll eat a good healthy big breakfast and I'll have fruit and eggs and toast...or cereal or oatmeal and fruit...you know...and every day I will have 3-5 snacks also...But they'll be healthy snacks like cheese and apples or nuts and oranges or celery and peanut butter, or popcorn and diet soda....You see? If you make yourself eat the good stuff...then you will be less likely to crave the junk!
Well, hope I haven't been too nosey or bossy...but I think it's best to have a plan. Let me know how you are doing!

A GREAT BOOK for anyone wanting to lose weight and be healthy is Jay McGraw's book (Dr. Phil's son)...called The Ultimate Weight Solution for Teens. I'm reading it and learning alot! I'm not a teen but I'm learning! LOL:)

i have already cut out all junk i havnt eatin anything like that in a long time. So now i am starting the work out part because im not as active as i was in highschool. I did the no carb thing for about 3 weeks and couldnt do it because my mom quit on me and i had nothing to eat in my house.. thats the problem i cant afford food. so i am subject to what my parents buy. whch is alot of junk because my sister is 6 and my brother is 15. I have a group doing this with me now and we are now devising our plan of action! Although my group is 3 hours away from me, we are close and are always there to support one another. I am looking forward to keeping up this way of life.

thanks girls
