Okay, I'm rededicating myself to losing weight. I went out and bought groceries this evening. I'm going to try that low-carb diet again (Curves Carbohydrates Addicts Diet). I'm not working out at Curves anymore, as my membership ran out last week, and I have a free membership to the gym at my college. I have an exercise machine at home, and tonight I bought a bellydancing weight loss video, which I'm going to try out tomorrow. I bought a blank tape to record exercise programs on (I hope to record tonight).

I'm an obsessive weigher. I have to weigh myself every morning, after I go to the bathroom, and before I take a shower and have breakfast. I'm creating a weight chart tonight to tape to the wall and keep track of my weight loss.

There's a formal dance coming up in a couple months, and I bought a new dress that fits, but it doesn't quite fit how I'd like it to, if ya know what I mean.

My goal is to fit in that dress appropriately, and look good! I have never gone to a formal dance and actually dressed up (I crashed one once, but that's another story! LOL!).

So, we'll see how things go here! I'll keep ya posted daily.

Did you have any success on the Curves diet before? I work out at Curves, but I haven't done their diet. I did read the book so I know approximately what it involves.

Good luck to you on your new weight-loss endeavor. It takes time, but if you are really determined there is no reason you shouldn't fit nicely into that new dress by the time of your party. In fact, I think that is a great goal for anyone who is wanting to lose a bit of weight. I fact I had a goal to fit into a certain red dress by a certain time, and it worked!!!

Have fun, and keep smiling -

I tried the Curves diet once before, for all of two days. I got such horrible migraines, I had to stop. I'm an all or nothin' kinda' gal. I couldn't just work my way towards low carbs if suddenly going low carb wasn't working. I gave up completely and went back to just trying to eat healthy.

I love Curves, btw. Even though my membership ran out last week and I'm not signing up again, I recommend it to everybody. I lost 65 lbs in 8 months (although I gained 14 lbs back after I stopped working out).

I'm so happy the dress goal worked for you! I'm really hoping to fit into this dress by the formal dance.

BTW... do you have any suggestions on what to do about my arm that keeps waving even after I've finished waving? It's really bad. I lost on average 2 lbs a week, and I did the Curves things, so strength and cardio... but the damn hangy skin fat is discusting, and keeps me from wearing sleeveless shirts.

My formal dress is sleeveless, and I'm a bit embarassed about wearing it because of my arms. I have a sheer shawl to wear on my arms, but still, I don't want to be stiff and covering myself constantly all night!

I don't know a lot about curves and such - but as for your arms - what about exercising them with dumb bell weights? Like arm curls and stuff - just a thought :)

congrats on your weight loss so far, thats wonderful! :)
i have found that my arms have firmed up a lot through my weight work..tricep kickbacks, tricep dips and upper body cardio work( i do bodycombat/tae bo) have all had results for me..
good luck with your new program!

what you're talking about is probably the tricep... It's a really tough muscle to isolate, and "spot toning" is always tough. BUT if you start now, you can notice some definite improvements...Like Beth says, dumbbells. Try curls(--bicep), then tricep kickbacks, and then some pushups???

exrx.net has some great exercises and suggestions. :)

Okay, here's my diet for today...

4 slices of Turkey bacon, low fat
3 eggs (cooked in olive oil flavored Pam)
Advant Edge Carb Control Shake
romaine lettuce salad
no calorie no carb dressing
less than a serving of no-skin chicken breast strips
a couple pork rinds (ick! yeah, I only had like 2)
roasted chicken (with skin)
broccoli with cheese sauce
plenty of water!

So, I totaled about 1623 calories, 71 fat, 55 carbs, and 160 g protein. (44% fat, 13% carbs, 44% protein)

I decided to go easy on going low carb, as last time I attempted, I got really sick on day two (think immobilizing migraines). So, I figured start off with a little under 60 g of carbs, and work my way down to 20g or below.

I tried the bellydancing video, but my kids were trying to slam dance with me while I was trying it. I'm thinking I'm going to do some yoga before I go to bed.

Tomorrow, my goal is to be under 20 g of carbohydrates. Hopefully, this day of easing into ketosis will do me some good. My other goal is to actually use my exercise equipment tomorrow, or maybe get down to the gym at the school if it's open. I have to go sit down at a restaurant that serves ice cream tomorrow as part of a fundraiser. That will be soooo tempting! Ugh!

Wish me luck!
